Woman who lost 15 kg shares weight loss tips that helped her go from 73 kg to 56 kg: ‘Stretch every morning, night for…’

Losing weight is an uphill battle. Apart from working out regularly, it also requires one to keep a check on their diet, adopt lifestyle habits that can benefit their routine, and follow a cohesive plan that offers long-term benefits rather than quick results.

Fitness coach shares tips that helped her lose 15 kg during weight loss, including eating high-protein meals, stretching regularly, and more.

Sophia Clare, an online fitness coach, on August 23, shared her transformation on Instagram. She shared a few tips that helped her lose over 15 kg during her weight loss journey, including eating high-protein meals, stretching regularly, and not skipping weight training, among others.

Weight loss tips to shed almost 15 kg

According to the fitness coach, she used to weigh 73 kg, and now she weighs about 56 kg. She lost over 15 kg during her transformation period, and it was possible because she followed steps that helped maintain her nutrition and health, and remained consistent. Let’s find out what helped her lose weight.

1. Food = fuel

According to the fitness coach, food is fuel for our body, and while she was trying to lose weight, instead of giving up food to reduce calories, she ate lots of high-protein, nutrient-dense meals.

She also maintained being in a caloric deficit while fuelling her body. She explains, “[Be in] calorie deficit if you are trying to lose weight. E.g.: If your maintenance calories are 2,000, a deficit diet for you would be eating around 1,700 calories.”

2. Weight lifting 4-5x a week

The fitness coach made sure that she did weight training at least 4 to 5 times a week. While training, she did a PPL split: push, pull, and legs. For instance, push exercises would be bench press, barbell shoulder press, dumbbell lateral raises, push-ups, and chest press. Meanwhile, pull exercises include pull-ups, bicep curls, one-arm dumbbell rows, bent-over rows, and deadlifts.

She also suggested a key tip to keep in mind while working out. “Focusing on different muscle groups each day, to allow the other muscles to recover. Focusing on progressive overload and training until failure. Push for extra reps, your mind gives up before your body does,” the coach recommended.

3. Aiming for 10-12k steps a day

“Steps are so beneficial to help with weight loss, and even an instant mood booster,” the fitness coach noted. During her weight loss journey, she completed 10 to 12k steps every day.

4. Stretching every morning and night

According to the fitness coach, she stretched every day, once in the morning and once at night, for 15 minutes each time. “This helps keep the muscle active, but also allows for recovery. Also good before bed to unwind,” she explained.

5. Stay motivated

Lastly, the fitness coach advised those trying to lose weight to stay motivated and avoid comparing their progress to others. She added, “It can be hard, but keep reminding yourself why you started. We all have to start somewhere; you can’t compare your day 1 to someone’s day 100.”

An uncontrolled growth of cells in the colon or rectum leads to colon cancer. Also known as colorectal cancer, it typically affects older adults, though it can happen at any age. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), in 2020, more than 1.9 million new cases and more than 930,000 deaths were estimated to have occurred globally.

According to Dr Sethi, eating a healthy diet can reduce your risk of colon cancer. (Freepik)

Therefore, colon cancer requires as much of our attention as any other type of cancer. WHO says that the colon cancer risk can be reduced with regular screenings, staying physically active, not smoking tobacco, and limiting alcohol. However, your diet also plays a major role.

10 foods that can quietly protect you from colon cancer

Dr Saurabh Sethi, MD, MPH, a gastroenterologist trained at AIIMS, Harvard, and Stanford Universities, stressed that eating a healthy diet can reduce your risk of colon cancer. In an Instagram post shared on October 25, titled ‘10 Foods That Can Quietly Protect You From Colon Cancer’, the expert listed foods you should include in your daily diet to protect your colon.

Here are the foods he suggested in the video:

  1. Beans and lentils
  2. Broccoli and cruciferous veggies
  3. Berries
  4. Oats, barley, and quinoa
  5. Leafy greens
  6. Garlic
  7. Onions
  8. Tomatoes
  9. Yoghurt and fermented foods
  10. Nuts and seeds

8 warning signs of colon cancer

While improving your diet to reduce the risk of colon cancer is one of the most essential steps, it is also important to know the signs because most colon cancers start silently.

In an October 10 Instagram post, Dr Sethi highlighted 8 warning signs one should look out for to detect colon cancer early, such as persistent bowel changes, constant fatigue, unexplained weight loss, abdominal pain or cramping, and more. According to the gastroenterologist, when caught early, there is a 90 percent chance of survival five years after the diagnosis. Learn more signs here.

Music composer and singer Amaal Mallik has once again captured headlines, this time for his heartfelt revelations on Bigg Boss 19. In a recent promo of the reality show, Amaal was seen in an emotional conversation with actress Ashnoor Kaur, where he opened up about some of the most painful moments of his life, leaving him teary-eyed.

Reflecting on the past few years, Amaal shared, “2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 were very bad years. Emotionally bahut mushkil tha.” He spoke about enduring multiple personal losses — the death of his beloved pet dog Handsome, losing friends during the Covid-19 pandemic, and the end of a long-term relationship. “Losing my pet, losing a few friends in Covid, a 6-7 saal ka relationship coming to an end, everyone getting married, everything… aise dhad dhad dhad karke hua mere saath,” he said.

Among these heartbreaks, Amaal revealed that losing his dog Handsome affected him the most. Fighting back tears, he recalled, “When I lost Handsome, it was the worst. Mummy boli thi ki aake milke ja bimaar hai. I didn’t meet him.” Ashnoor was seen comforting him, saying, “It’s okay.”

Adding to the speculation, Amaal’s father Daboo Malik posted a cryptic message on X, writing, “Bahut hogaya… Abbass Milton Hain, October 28… Music is our real destiny.” While he did not mention Amaal or the show directly, fans linked the timing of his post to the exit rumours. Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam 3 Loses Paresh Rawal: Find Out What Went Down Behind The Scenes! | Glamsham.com

The Drishyam franchise is gearing up for its much-awaited third instalments in both Hindi and Malayalam, with Ajay Devgn and Mohanlal returning to their iconic roles. However, recent buzz surrounded veteran actor Paresh Rawal, who was reportedly approached to join the cast of Drishyam 3. After widespread speculation, the actor has now confirmed that he was indeed offered a role — but turned it down for personal reasons.

In a statement to Bollywood Hungama, Paresh Rawal shared, “Yes, the makers did approach me. But I didn’t feel that the role was suitable for me. Maza nahin aaya (I didn’t have fun with the part).” The 70-year-old actor clarified that while he admired the film’s writing, he did not feel the same excitement about his character. “The script is very good. I was really impressed. But even in a compelling script, you need a role that excites you. Warna maza nahin aayega (Otherwise, it’s no fun),” he added.

Rumours had earlier suggested that Rawal had already joined the project and would begin shooting soon. However, his revelation confirms that he opted out early on. The specific role offered to him remains undisclosed, and details about his potential replacement are still under wraps.

Meanwhile, Drishyam 3 will see Ajay Devgn and Shriya Saran reprising their roles, with the teaser expected to drop soon. However, reports indicate a delay due to creative and contractual issues between the Hindi and Malayalam teams. According to The Times of India, one of the adaptation clauses prevents the Hindi makers from announcing content details without approval from the original creators, Jeethu Joseph and Antony Perumbavoor.

The Malayalam producers reportedly objected to the Hindi team’s sudden release announcement for October 2, 2026, enforcing the clause to maintain coordination between both versions.

Meet the Kolkata artists who are igniting our imagination

by jummy84 October 25, 2025
written by jummy84

While Kolkata earned its sobriquet City of Joy from Dominique Lapierre’s 1985 novel that captured the resilience of its people, the storied city holds treasures far beyond – of art, culture and a timeless creative spirit. It’s a land of thinkers and of hands that shape beauty. Steeped in rich history and cultural heritage, the city has long inspired dreamers. We speak to designers, jewellers, and artists from Kolkata who are igniting our imagination – and our feeds.

Shreya Ghosh, Viraj Khanna and Ayushman Mitra

Viraj Khanna, Artist

Fascinated by striking moments from everyday life, Viraj Khanna, son of designer Anamika Khanna, translates them onto canvas through vivid hand embroidered imagery. For his collages, the 30-year-old reflects on the never-ending chase for perfection. These become the blueprints for his sculptures, which invite one to embrace imperfection with grace. For Viraj, no place inspires like Kolkata. ‘There is such an eclectic blend of tradition and modernity here – from the dazzling puja pandals to heritage architecture! It’s a city brimming with imagination, and our karigars have as much to teach you about life as they do about craft,” he says.

Ayushman Mitra, Fashion Designer and Artist

With his daak naam, Bobo, Ayushman Mitra is celebrated for blending art and fashion into designs steeped in psychedelic fantasy. A painter since childhood, Bobo translates his canvas into wearable art through his label, Bobo Calcutta. “The eyes you often see in my work, along with other recurring motifs, are drawn from Goddess Durga. She inspires me every day,” says the 36-year-old. For Bobo, Kolkata is both muse and beloved home. “The city offers endless artistic energy, with karigars whose hands move as if guided by the divine. What makes Kolkata unique is the harmony in which people of different faiths live and create,” he says.

Shreya Ghosh, Jewellery Designer

After 15 years in Mumbai’s fashion world, Shreya Ghosh returned to her roots in New Alipore, Kolkata. There, she turned her gaze to West Bengal’s famed joroa work – a unique blend of vintage British jewellery aesthetics and Indian craftsmanship – and felt the need for reinvention. Traditionally loved by Bengali brides for its gold vines, flowers, leaves and seed pearls, joroa finds a bold, edgy expression in her label, Goddess of Glocal. “I wanted to marry joroa with modern aesthetics to make it relevant for the fashion-forward,” says the 36-year-old. For Shreya, the city’s greatest gift is its creative spirit. “From childhood, we are encouraged to paint, sing, sculpt, and dance. This tapestry of artistic pursuit is a blessing,” she says.

Arka Patra, Photographer

A non-conformist in every sense, Arka Patra has built a visual language that is as unrestrained as it is deliberate. Trained as a mechanical engineer, he abandoned convention to pursue photography. His lens dismantles long-held perceptions with images that challenge and provoke. Arka’s work often draws inspiration from the Pre-Raphaelites, the 19th century art movement, marked by luminous colour and meticulous detail. “My gaze is coloured by Kolkata’s socio-political and cultural landscape, as well as the riverside town I grew up in – the historic Chandannagar, with its echoes of Indo-French architecture. I doubt I could ever bring the same authenticity to my work if I had lived elsewhere,” reflects the 31-year-old.

Monalisha Manna, Jewellery Designer

Monalisha Manna left behind an engineering career to chase her passion, launching the silver jewellery label Earthaments. The 31-year-old celebrates the rich tribal culture of West Bengal through designs with a modern edge. ‘Growing up in Kolkata meant being surrounded by art in its purest form. The colonial layers merging with Bengal’s own aesthetics shaped my world – whether it was heirloom jewellery or the textures of Kalighat roads,” she says. But above all, it is the women of Kolkata who she loves the most. “Fierce and fearless, they embody the Divine Mother. Their strength, resilience, and grace inspire every piece,” she says.

AIIMS gastrologist shares 3 simple tests that can ‘literally save your life’ and detect hidden health risks early

Many serious health conditions develop silently. AIIMS gastroenterologist Dr. Saurabh Sethi shares 3 simple tests that can detect risks early and save lives.

Many serious digestive conditions, including liver, stomach, and intestinal disorders, develop quietly without obvious symptoms in the early stages. By the time signs appear, the disease may have progressed significantly. To help detect potential issues before they become life-threatening, Dr Saurabh Sethi, a gastroenterologist trained at AIIMS, Harvard, and Stanford universities, shares in his October 25 Instagram post 3 simple, routine tests that everyone should consider. (Also read: Apollo orthopaedic surgeon says ‘calcium is not enough for bones’; shares how to keep them healthy and strong for life )

Dr. Sethi advocates routine tests to combat hidden health risks for all ages. (Freepik)

1. Lipid profile test

“High LDL cholesterol and triglycerides are early warning signs for heart disease. Globally, nearly 4 in 10 adults have high cholesterol, often without any symptoms,” explains Dr Sethi. Regular lipid profile tests help detect these risks early and allow timely intervention.

2. Blood sugar test

“High blood sugar silently damages your heart, kidneys, and brain. Over 500 million people worldwide have diabetes, and half of them don’t even know it,” warns Dr Sethi. A simple blood sugar test can uncover hidden risks and prevent severe complications.

3. Bone density test

“After 40, bones start weakening faster. Low bone density means even a small fall can cause a fracture. Around 1 in 3 women and 1 in 5 men over 50 will suffer an osteoporosis-related fracture,” says Dr Sethi. Early screening helps in taking preventive measures to maintain bone health.

“As a doctor, my advice is simple: prevention is always cheaper and smarter than a cure. Share this widely to spread awareness,” concludes Dr Sethi.

Curtain Call For Satish Shah: The Man Who Made Laughter Feel Effortless | Glamsham.com

by jummy84 October 25, 2025
written by jummy84

There are actors who make you laugh, and then there are those whose very presence promises laughter. Satish Shah belonged to the latter. The moment he entered the frame, something inside you smiled. His face carried mischief, warmth, and a kind of unspoken assurance that something funny was about to happen. It didn’t need words — just that twinkle in his eyes and the slight tilt of his head was enough.

Satish Ravilal Shah (25 June 1951 – 25 October 2025) wasn’t simply a comic actor. He was a craftsman who understood that humour is rhythm — a melody that relies on silence as much as on sound. He had a musician’s sense of timing, a painter’s eye for detail, and a philosopher’s empathy for the everyday absurdities of life. In a world that often mistakes noise for comedy, Satish Shah’s humour was soft-spoken, intelligent, and wonderfully human.

For millions of Indians, their first memory of him was in Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi. Week after week, Satish became someone new — a taxi driver, a boss, a neighbour, a priest. He played them all, and somehow, you never felt he was repeating himself. He had the rare gift of vanishing into character without losing his essence. Families across India sat together on Friday nights not just to watch a sitcom, but to see what new avatar Satish Shah would surprise them with. His versatility was astonishing, his ease deceptive. It all looked effortless — because he made it so.

And then came Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro. As the overconfident municipal commissioner D’Mello, Satish turned chaos into art. His performance in that iconic Mahabharat scene remains one of Indian cinema’s greatest comic moments — an orchestra of confusion where every gesture and pause added to the symphony. You could watch that sequence a hundred times and still find something new in his expressions, a fresh nuance in his timing. That was his magic: he didn’t just deliver jokes; he created moments.

Two decades later, Satish Shah found a new home in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai. As Indravadan Sarabhai, he became the lovable patriarch with a sarcastic streak and impeccable comic timing. His banter, his mock arrogance, his effortless rapport with every co-actor — all of it created a character that generations still quote today. Even now, social media is filled with Indu’s one-liners, proof that his humour was not only sharp but timeless.

Off-screen, though, Satish was nothing like his flamboyant roles. Those who knew him speak of a quiet man, full of understated wit and kindness. His jokes in real life were never loud or attention-seeking; they were gentle, perfectly timed asides that left people in laughter long after he’d moved on. He was a trained actor from FTII, and he approached comedy with the same rigour others reserved for tragedy. Every pause, every reaction, was measured — not mechanical, but mindful. That’s why his humour felt real. It came from observation, not exaggeration.

He once told a friend about an incident that stayed with him. While his wife was undergoing surgery, a fan approached him in the hospital corridor and asked him to tell a joke. It was a moment that summed up both the beauty and burden of being funny. “People think you live in laughter,” he said quietly, “but sometimes, you only borrow it for them.” There was grace in that — the grace of someone who understood what he gave to the world.

It’s hard to recall Satish Shah in a serious role, and perhaps that was deliberate. He didn’t want to remind audiences of pain; he wanted to give them respite from it. His art was never cynical, never cruel. It was rooted in affection — for people, for their follies, for the small confusions that make us human. He wasn’t laughing at the world; he was laughing with it.

His passing leaves a strange quiet — the kind that follows a perfect punchline. For decades, he made Indian living rooms ring with laughter. He taught us that comedy doesn’t need to shout to be heard. It just needs honesty. And now, as the curtain falls on one of the finest comic actors this country has ever known, there’s no need for grand farewells. Just a smile, maybe a chuckle, and a line he might have said himself, “Arre, drama mat karo yaar… hasso thoda.”

Because even in his final bow, Satish Shah would want the applause to sound like laughter.
