Why the Internet Thought Trump Died – Hollywood Life

Donald Trump became one of the internet’s highest searches in America on August 30, 2025, after baseless death rumors circulated online. Social media users assumed that the Republican president, 79, had died. Now that multiple outlets have reported that he was in Virginia on his way to a golf course, the public is wondering how the death hoax started in the first place.

Perhaps adding fuel to the fire was Vice President JD Vance, who spoke with USA Today in an interview published August 30 about the president’s health. The VP insisted that Trump’s health was in good standing, but Vance noted that he is ready and willing to become president if “God forbid, there’s a terrible tragedy.”

Below, find out how the false death rumors about Trump surfaced.

Is Trump Actually Dead?

No, Trump is alive. The president shared a message to Truth Social at 6:10 p.m. ET on Truth Social about tariffs.

His post read, “ALL TARIFFS ARE STILL IN EFFECT! Today a Highly Partisan Appeals Court incorrectly said that our Tariffs should be removed, but they know the United States of America will win in the end. If these Tariffs ever went away, it would be a total disaster for the Country. It would make us financially weak, and we have to be strong. The U.S.A. will no longer tolerate enormous Trade Deficits and unfair Tariffs and Non Tariff Trade Barriers imposed by other Countries, friend or foe, that undermine our Manufacturers, Farmers, and everyone else. If allowed to stand, this Decision would literally destroy the United States of America. At the start of this Labor Day weekend, we should all remember that TARIFFS are the best tool to help our Workers, and support Companies that produce great MADE IN AMERICA products. For many years, Tariffs were allowed to be used against us by our uncaring and unwise Politicians. Now, with the help of the United States Supreme Court, we will use them to the benefit of our Nation, and Make America Rich, Strong, and Powerful Again! Thank you for your attention to this matter.”

Donald Trump Death Rumors Explained

On August 29, 2025, rumors gradually circulated online claiming that Trump hadn’t been seen in two days. The next morning, the hashtags “#whereistrump” and “#trumpisdead” became a popular X.com trend.

Baseless tweets that read “TRUMP IS DEAD” and “TRUMP DIED” quickly made the rounds online, but multiple outlets and news reporters quickly shut down the rumors.

Daily Caller White House correspondent Reagan Reese tweeted, “I wake up to see people freaking out that Trump’s sick or dead or something because he hasn’t been seen in a few days. I was with the president yesterday afternoon. I interviewed him for an hour.”

At the time of publication, the White House has yet to publicly comment on the death rumors.

BREAKING: Trump is NOT dead.

Minutes ago, the White House press pool spotted him leaving for his Virginia golf resort, dressed in a white polo, red MAGA hat, and black pants.

— Republicans against Trump (@RpsAgainstTrump) August 30, 2025

Why Did the Internet Think That Trump Died?

It all started with the claim that Trump hadn’t been seen in two days, which was proven false by multiple reports. However, the White House’s silence on the rumors contributed to the speculation.

Moreover, Trump is now the oldest inaugurated president in the U.S. He was 78 when he officially took office in January 2025.

How Is Trump’s Health Today?

According to the president himself, his inner circle and his colleagues, Trump is in good health. Vance defended this claim during his recent USA Today interview.

“He’s got incredible energy, and while most of the people who work around the President of the United States are younger than he is, I think we find that he actually is the last person who goes to sleep, he’s the last person making phone calls at night, and he’s the first person who wakes up and the first person making phone calls in the morning,” Vance said. “Yes, terrible tragedies happen, but I feel very confident the President of the United States is in good shape, is going to serve out the remainder of his term and do great things for the American people.”

The vice president added that he’s ready to take office if “God forbid, there’s a terrible tragedy,” adding, “I can’t think of better on-the-job training than what I’ve gotten over the last 200 days.”

Venice 2025: Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Frankenstein’ is All Cinema Can Be

by Alex Billington
August 30, 2025

“In seeking life, I created death.” The timeless story of Dr. Frankenstein and his Monster returns to the big screen again in this brand new version of Frankenstein. For his 13th movie, Mexican maestro Guillermo del Toro adapts Mary Shelley’s 1818 novel of the same name and brings his vision of this tale to screens – with a gothic, macabre, brutal, and mesmerizing take on this well-known story. Much like del Toro’s version of the classic story of Pinocchio from a few years ago, he infuses this Frankenstein with so many unique and intriguing ideas, expanding upon the original story and adding depth into every single frame of it. I LOVED this movie. Right from the start, with an action-packed opening scene set on a Danish ship trapped in ice, I knew we were in for a magnificent tale of madness and this delivers on that promise. Part creature feature, part emotional exploration of what makes us human, part horror, part love story, it’s a mash-up of all of del Toro’s favorite things in one spectacular cinematic creation. Yes it is yet another Netflix movie destined for streaming but I don’t care, it’s beautiful creation no matter what. I’m especially lucky to have had a chance to view it on the big screen and enjoy every last second of it as a thrilling, heart-pounding, vivid experience.

Everyone already knows that Guillermo del Toro is a master storyteller & cinema maven. He’s won plenty of Oscars already, he’s even won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival before (for The Shape of Water in 2017). He is still as voracious and masterful as ever and Frankenstein is one of his best. Del Toro is also credited as the sole writer on this adapting Mary Shelley’s original story about Dr. Victor Frankenstein and his Monster creation. He sticks closer to what is in the book and does not attempt to reinvent or re-imagine this story in any new way, which is fine, he doesn’t need to as it’s still a riveting story to tell especially with his vision. What he does do is embellish in the visuals and the emotions – letting all the extraordinary sets & cinematography become characters of their own. Del Toro’s Frankenstein tells the original 1800s version of the story following Victor, played with exceptional verve by Oscar Isaac, as he grows up through a troubled childhood to become a mad scientist / surgeon hellbent on figuring out how to stop death. This ultimately leads him to exploring the uncanny act of creating life from death – and his greatest experiment involves putting together a body from various parts and re-animating it with the electricity captured from lightning.

Goodness it is always so refreshing & thrilling when a filmmaker actually has a VISION for their work. Not just someone shooting what’s in the script and getting it on screen in the most generic way. A real visionary filmmaker has a complete focus on the details & every last part of the film so that that there’s real meaning and depth in every shot. Everything matters. This is the true glory of fantastic cinema. Guillermo del Toro is one of the greatest filmmakers of our times whose vision remains entirely singular & cinematically exciting. This story obviously means a great deal to him and it feels like his life’s work to adapt the classic tale of The Monster with his distinct flourishes. He knocked this one out of the park. It’s everything that cinema should be – beautiful, thrilling, engaging, emotional, satisfying. The score, sets, cinematography, performances are all ravishing. I am buzzing thinking about and writing about this movie. There’s a propulsive, powerful drive del Toro’s storytelling that pulls viewers in and keeps them hooked. This drive is also what keeps the movie’s pacing lurching forward – it’s nearly 2 & 1/2 hours long but there is a lot to get through, from his childhood, to the birth of The Monster, to the violent aftermath, to the Monster’s own story when it all comes full circle.

My favorite segment of the movie is in the second half when The Monster himself, played by Jacob Elordi, finally gets to tell his side of the story. This seems to be where other reviewers have been getting frustrated as it humanizes The Monster in a way that gives him more depth than the classic version of this character presented iconically by Boris Karloff. It’s actually quite stirring to switch to this side and learn about what makes us human – which is an important aspect in the emotional core of del Toro’s take on Mary Shelley’s tale. Guillermo is often at his best when he lets the wise old man teach us about life – one of my favorites in his filmography is John Hurt as “Broom” in the first Hellboy. In this movie we get British character actor David Bradley as the Blind Man. In fact, all the performances are tremendous. Finally we get Oscar Isaac digging into a role again (it has been a bit), giving it all his all, confronting his darkness and presenting a well-rounded take on this character. Del Toro said during the press conference that this Frankenstein movie is about the various flaws in all people and how these flaws, these imperfections, are part of humanity, part of our existence, part of what makes us all unique. Isaac embraces that uniqueness ever so (ahem) perfectly.

I can’t wait to watch it again. Del Toro’s Frankenstein is a cinematic triumph. It represents his growth as a filmmaker and exemplifies his storytelling prowess. Much like Hayao Miyazaki’s masterpieces, I can sense every storyboard, every decision that led to every single shot working as wonderfully as it does on screen. The cinematography by DP Dan Laustsen is to die for – and be brought back to life by because it’s awe-inspiring to look at all the time. Light pouring in from everywhere, lush colors, vivid details. It’s not exactly realistic, but neither is this story, it’s a fantastical tale of darkness. Maybe this fancy, showy cinematography style won’t work for everyone, but I loved everything about it. As an example of the attention to detail, the way Del Toro makes sure that glowing orange embers float away from The Monster’s robes after he is shot represents how this kind of tiny, usually unnoticeable detail is part of the magic of visionary filmmaking. Frankenstein isn’t a completely new reinvention but is now the best version of Victor & The Monster’s story made for the screen. An instant favorite. This is why I go to the movies – for this kind of enchanting cinema.

Why Is My Phone on SOS? Updates on the Verizon Outage – Hollywood Life

In case you’re a Verizon customer, you probably noticed that your phone was on SOS today, August 30, 2025. People across the United States — mainly on the East Coast and in parts of California — complained that their cellular service was down.

According to downdetector.com, there were more than 23,000 reports of outages that afternoon, and Verizon acknowledged the issue. So, what’s happening with Verizon, and what can you do if your iPhone is in SOS mode?

Learn about the outage and find out what to do if you were affected here.

Why Is My Phone on SOS?

If you’re a Verizon Wireless customer and your phone is in SOS mode, it’s due to a widespread outage with the carrier.

An iPhone could be in SOS mode because the device is not connected to a cellular network. If a carrier isn’t having an outage, Apple suggests that iPhone customers restart their devices and try reconnecting to their network. However, if there is a widespread network outage, then iPhone users should contact their carrier.

How Did the Verizon Outage Happen?

The mass Verizon outage across America is apparently due to a “software issue,” the company confirmed in a statement, according to multiple outlets.

“We are aware of a software issue impacting wireless service for some customers,” Verizon’s statement read. “Our engineers are engaged, and we are working quickly to identify and solve the issue.”

Verizon also advised customers to “visit our Check Network Status page for updates on service in your area.”

“We know how much people rely on Verizon and apologize for any inconvenience,” the rest of the statement read. “We appreciate your patience. Thank you again.”

Is Verizon Still Down?

It depends on the area and customer, but at the time of publication, there are still outages being reported across the country. Complaints on downdetector.com rose at around 12:30 p.m. ET to more than 20,000, and new reports decreased afterward. However, there were still more than 18,000 reports on the site.

Customers in Florida, California, Wisconsin and other states were still reporting cellular issues by 6:00 p.m. ET on downdetector.com. Many claimed their phones weren’t working for several hours that day.

“Two identities. One icon. Zero shame.” Meet Chad! 🏈 Hulu has debuted the full official trailer for their new sports comedy series called Chad Powers, ready for streaming starting in September one month from now. We posted the first teaser for this last year during the football season – now it’s finally about to release and they’re dropping more footage. When bad behavior nukes hotshot QB Russ Holliday’s college career, he disguises himself (using prosthetics?!) and walks onto a struggling Southern football team as the talented, affable Chad Powers. The supremely talented Glen Powell stars as Powers – he also co-created, co-wrote, and is executive producing the series through his production co-banner Barnstorm Productions. This stars Powell as Russ Holliday / Chad Powers, Perry Mattfeld as Ricky, Quentin Plair as Coach Byrd, Wynn Everett as Tricia, Frankie A. Rodriguez as Danny, and Steve Zahn as Jake Hudson. This actually looks like good fun. It’s a very ridiculous premise, but somehow Powell might just pull this off. Take a look below.

Coco, however, acknowledged that she represents “people that look like me in America who maybe don’t feel as supported during this time period.”

“I remember after the election and everything, it kind of felt like a down period a little bit, and my mom told me during Riyadh: ‘Just try to win the tournament just to give something for people to smile for,’” Coco added. “So, that’s what I was thinking about today when holding that. And then, seeing the flags in the crowd means a lot. … Some people may feel some type of way about being patriotic and things like that, but I’m definitely patriotic and proud to be American, and I’m proud to represent the Americans that look like me and people who kind of support the things that I support.”

Venice 2025: Guadagnino’s ‘After the Hunt’ is Brilliant Tale of Denial

by Alex Billington
August 30, 2025

“He crossed the line.” “But what actually happened?” The truth is out there, but no one really likes the truth anymore, because the truth can be destructive. That’s just the truth. Not every film is meant to make you feel all warm & fuzzy when you watch. In fact, some of the best films ever made are films that make viewers feel uncomfortable (like Tar at Venice 2022), and make them question their own views and thoughts and feelings. This is the case with After the Hunt, the 10th feature film from the acclaimed Italian filmmaker Luca Guadagnino. The film just premiered at the 2025 Venice Film Festival to many negative reviews from critics right off the bat. But I’m here to set the record straight – After the Hunt is a brilliant thriller, Luca Guadanigno’s best film after Call Me By Your Name. It may not as exciting or upbeat as Challengers or Queer, but that doesn’t make it any less masterful. The film features an exceptionally dense, philosophically / intellectually complex script that directly address sexual assault denialism. It’s also meticulously crafted, entrancing and harrowing to watch. And it hasn’t left my mind at all since the end of the screening days ago.

After the Hunt is a sensitive story about sexual assault and women, however it is directed by a man – Luca Guadanigno. Though the screenplay is written by a woman – American writer Nora Garrett with her first produced screenplay. The film is set at Yale and literally opens with a title card saying “it happened at Yale.” Clearly inspired by and/or based on a real incident, but that’s besides the point because what it shows is still sadly happening in so many places. Julia Roberts stars as professor Alma Olsson, on the verge of tenure at Yale. One of her friends / colleagues is Hank Gibson, played by Andrew Garfield, a beloved, outspoken, bearded young professor. Ayo Edebiri co-stars as Maggie Price, a PhD student in Alma’s program. After a late night party at Alma’s fancy home where everyone was drunk, Hank walks Maggie home and something happens. The next day a broken down Maggie comes to Alma and tells her something bad happened that night, hoping she might help her through this horrible situation. Alas, Alma increasingly becomes resistant, and the situation explodes – mainly because Hank and Alma start to realize this is going to mess with their hopes and dreams of tenure climbing up the career ladder in academia. It’s not actually a “he said, she said” situation – it’s much more about why won’t others believe what she said & refuse to deal with abusive men.

The filmmaking is entirely on point as it’s a very sensitive subject dealing with major issues of our time and generational differences. This film has some serious depth to what it’s getting at and implying about society – and it’s actually very specifically making an uncomfortable point. It’s not “fun” to watch by any means, but it is compelling and extremely fascinating. Michael Stuhlbarg also co-stars as Alma’s husband Frederik, an arrogant philosopher therapist who loves to argue and debate about heady topics. Much of the dialogue throughout he film is exceptionally complex, and I think it will take multiple viewings for those interested to dig into what is being said, what is being debated, and what each scene means. It’s hard for anyone to pick up on everything in the first viewing. Yes it’s a very talky film, but almost all of Luca Guadanigno’s films are about dialogue and conversations. Even Call Me By Your Name – they’re attracted to each other because of their conversations. “You know what things…” After the Hunt is actually quite similar to CMBYN but plays out entirely opposite. At the start, Alma and Maggie do sort of love each other (in a respectful professor / student way) however as the story goes on they split and get further & further from each other. I love how Guadanigno crafts this dynamic and builds a narrative around an intellectual understanding of the dialogue.

What might upset people the most is that the film has a very strong point to make about all the characters. Essentially it’s a film about generational differences, and specifically it’s about how the older generation is entirely wrong about the younger generation. Yes this is brought up in a few conversations, but the point of the script is digging really painfully into why someone like Alma gets so obsessed with denying and rejecting Maggie and what happened. Accusations are thrown about, conversations descend into yelling matches, and philosophy is used to excuse complaints. All because way too many people are afraid of losing their power, their career, all that they’ve worked for, because they don’t want to deal with the truth about sexual assault and rape, and how poorly it is handled in places like prestigious universities. The script and this film really want to remind us that older generations might not be right about everything and really do need to defer to the younger generations – even if this pisses them off. The writing is very, very heavy with intricate scenes and subtle reveals aplenty. I really think most are missing the point. But this is all too common nowadays – even the final revelations are going to piss people off because it’s not what they want to hear from anyone…

Aside from the narrative, this new Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross score is again superb though much more haunting, enhancing the unease of watching this story about accusations and truth. Of course everything is different from Guadanigno’s past films because this is not a topic that warrants any kind of playful, upbeat filmmaking. The lead performances are all exceptional & layered. Their characters are not underdeveloped at all, any claim of such is incorrect. There’s so much going on within each one of them, but of course they’re people in academia and that means their entire existence is wrapped up in the philosophy & intellectualism of academia, which is precisely what it is like on these campuses. The film will grow on people with time and will be appreciated properly with time. The best summation of how reflective it is comes from Garfield at the press conference in Venice: “If we don’t make the unconscious conscious, things will happen in our lives and we will call them fate. When our motivations are invisible even to ourselves, we become unreliable narrators – especially in a culture where survival is paramount. It’s fascinating that, in these characters, their wants and needs are invisible to themselves, so each of them believes they’re the hero of the story.” And in the end there is no hero, there is no one to celebrate in this story. But it’s still an important story told so brilliantly.

Unpack the Meaning of the Song – Hollywood Life

Sabrina Carpenter has finally released her long-awaited 2025 album, Man’s Best Friend, and the pop star wasn’t kidding when she warned that it wasn’t for “pearl clutchers.” After dropping the album on August 29, 2025, Sabrina released the accompanying music video for “Tears,” and the lyrics are a tribute to how “f**king horny” her music dares to be!

During her August 2025 CBS Mornings appearance, Sabrina acknowledged that her songs are “almost too TMI” but pointed out, “I think about being at a concert with, you know, however many young women I see in the front row that are screaming at the top of their lungs with their best friends, and you can go like, ‘Oh, we can all sigh [in] relief like, ‘This is just fun.’ And that’s all it has to be.’”

Below, we’re breaking down the lyrics of “Tears” and unpacking who the song could be about.

Who Is Sabrina Carpenter’s ‘Tears’ About?

There’s no way to tell if “Tears” was written about anyone in particular. According to the lyrics, Sabrina was inspired by anyone who’s “responsible.” The Grammy Award winner’s tongue-in-cheek song praises any man who can “do the dishes” or “assemble a chair from IKEA.”

Sabrina Carpenter’s ‘Tears’ Song Lyrics

The main chorus of “Tears” are pretty self-explanatory: Sabrina is singing about a person who actually treats her right and isn’t a “manchild” like her famous single.

“I get wet at the thought of you (I get) / Being a responsible guy (So, so, so, responsible guy),” she sings in the chorus. “Treating me like you’re supposed to do (Supposed to do) / Tears run down my thighs (Dance break).”

In one verse, the Video Music Award winner points out that “a little respect for women can get you very, very far” and “remembering how to use your phone gets me oh so (Oh so), oh so hot.”

Another verse in the witty track goes,  “A little initiative can go a very long, long way / Baby, just do the dishes, I’ll give you what you (What you), what you want / A little communication, yes, that’s my ideal foreplay / Assemble a chair from IKEA, I’m like, ‘Uh’ (Ah).”

In short, “Tears” describes a man who is the opposite of the one in her single “Manchild.”

“What the hell is a jigawatt?!” Universal debuted a brand new trailer celebrating the 40th anniversary of the all-time sci-fi time travel adventure classic Back to the Future, considered one of the best movies ever made. Robert Zemeckis directed this as his fourth feature film at the time and it hit first theaters in July 1985. Universal will be giving BTTF a big ol’ grand re-release in theaters on October 31st this fall, and of course it’s a must watch on the big screen. Bring the kids! Show it to the next generation, too! On October 31st, the beloved 1985 classic returns to theaters nationwide for a limited engagement in premium large screen formats, including Dolby Cinema, 4DX, D-Box, IMAX, among others. This marks the first time Back to the Future will be presented on the world’s largest screens, offering fans the opportunity to experience the film’s scope and spectacle in the most immersive formats yet. Marty McFly, a 17-year-old high school student, is accidentally sent 30 years into the past in a time-traveling DeLorean invented by his close friend, the maverick scientist Doc Brown. The BTTF original cast includes Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson, Crispin Glover, Thomas F. Wilson, Claudia Wells, Marc McClure, Wendie Jo Sperber, James Tolkan. This trailer shows the whole movie! But we’ve all seen it so many times already.

Universal Pictures is proud to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Back to the Future, the Academy Award–winning sci-fi adventure from director Robert Zemeckis and executive producer Steven Spielberg that became a global phenomenon and redefined the adventure genre. When teenager Marty McFly (starring Michael J. Fox) is blasted to 1955 in the DeLorean time machine created by the eccentric Doc Brown, he finds himself mixed up in a time-shattering chain reaction that threatens to erase his future—and trap him in the past forever. Back to the Future is directed by the iconic American filmmaker Robert Zemeckis, his fourth feature film at the time just after Romancing the Stone (1984) and right after he made Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988) before the two sequels. The screenplay is written by Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale. Produced by Neil Canton and Bob Gale. Executive produced by Steven Spielberg, Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall. Back to the Future originally opened in theaters on July 3rd, 1985 and ended up becoming an epic $389 million box office success then. Universal re-releases the classic BTTF in theaters again starting on October 31st, 2025 this fall – including on IMAX screens nationwide. Is it one of your all-time faves?

The halls of Nevermore Academy are opening once again—Wednesday is back for season 2. After a wildly successful debut that turned the iconic Addams Family daughter into a streaming sensation, fans got word in 2023 that a follow-up season was on the way. Now that part 1 of season 2 has aired, fans can’t wait for part 2.

With returning characters, fresh mysteries, and even darker twists ahead, Hollywood Life has rounded up everything we know so far about the next round of chaos for Wednesday Addams.

‘Wednesday’ Season 2 Details

Netflix officially announced the renewal of Wednesday on January 6, 2023. In the Season 2 announcement video, Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday Addams delivers a perfectly on-brand message: “Over the past few weeks, I’ve been hunted, haunted, and mimicked millions of times across the internet. It’s been pure torture. Thank you.”

The streaming service said “more misery is coming” and the “global phenomenon will return for season 2.”

“It’s been incredible to create a show that has connected with people across the world.  Thrilled to continue Wednesday’s tortuous journey into season two. We can’t wait to dive head first into another season and explore the kooky spooky world of Nevermore. Just need to make sure Wednesday hasn’t emptied the pool first,” creators/showrunners/executive producers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar told Tudum.

Wednesday became an instant hit for Netflix when it debuted on November 23, 2022. In just its first week, Wednesday had 341.23M hours viewed and became the record-holder for the most hours viewed in a week for any English-language TV series on Netflix. Wednesday beat Stranger Things 4, which previously held the title with 335M hours viewed in the first week. Wednesday broke another Netflix record in its second week with 411.29M hours viewed.

The love for Wednesday Addams began when the fictional family was created by cartoonist Charles Addams. The first Addams Family television series premiered in 1964. Feature films starring Christina Ricci as Wednesday Addams debuted in the 1990s.

Wednesday Season 2 Part 1 & 2 Release Dates

Season 2 of Wednesday will be released in two parts on Netflix. Part 1 premiered on August 6, 2025. Part 2, featuring the remaining four episodes, arrives on September 3, 2025.

Filming for the new season began in early 2024, following delays due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes as unions negotiated new deals with studios. Production for Season 2 has shifted to Ireland, a change from Season 1, which was filmed in Romania from September 2021 to March 2022.

‘Wednesday’ Season 2 Cast & Crew

Jenna is, of course, returning as Wednesday Addams—and this time, she’s not just the star. As revealed in her Elle cover story, Jenna will also serve as an executive producer for Season 2.

With Wednesday returning to Nevermore Academy for another semester, several familiar faces are back as well. Expect to see:

  • Emma Myers as Enid Sinclair

  • Joy Sunday as Bianca Barclay

  • Georgie Farmer as Ajax Petropolus

  • Moosa Mostafa as Eugene Otinger

All these actors will be returning except for Percy Hynes White.

Hunter Doohan will reprise his role as Tyler Galpin, despite his character being locked away at the end of Season 1 after being revealed as the Hyde. He teased that Tyler’s arc is far from over, telling Hollywood Life, “I just want to explore what’s next for Tyler, and if he’s going to come back after Wednesday… I guess the idea left at the end is that he’s really pissed off enough to transform in that armed vehicle and I assume escape.”

Tyler was previously under the control of Marilyn Thornhill (played by  Christina Ricci), whose fate was left unresolved in the Season 1 finale. Hunter added that he’d love to see “what Tyler and the Hyde are like without having a master in Thornhill.”

The Addams family is also expected to appear throughout the season. Catherine Zeta-Jones (Morticia), Luis Guzmán (Gomez), Isaac Ordonez (Pugsley), George Burcea (Lurch), Victor Dorobantu (Thing), and Fred Armisen (Uncle Fester) are all likely to pop in—and fans are hoping for even more screentime.

“We felt like we just touched the surface with those characters and the actors are so amazing in those roles,” Miles told TVLine. “Catherine is, I think, an iconic Morticia. The relationship between Wednesday and Morticia is also essential to the show, and the idea that Wednesday is trying to forge her own path outside the family is important.”

Season 2 is also bringing in fresh blood. Steve Buscemi joins the cast as Nevermore Academy’s new principal. Lady Gaga has been confirmed for a mysterious role, and additional guest stars include:

  • Thandiwe Newton

  • Haley Joel Osment

  • Heather Matarazzo

  • Joanna Lumley

  • Frances O’Connor

  • Joonas Suotamo

Tim Burton, who directed the first four episodes of Season 1, is back to direct another four in Season 2.

‘Wednesday’ Season 2 Plot

At Tudum 2025, Netflix unveiled the first six minutes of Season 2’s premiere episode, titled “Here We Woe Again.” The opening scene features Wednesday confronting a serial killer known as the Kansas City Scalper, played by Haley Joel Osment, showcasing her growing psychic abilities and setting a darker tone for the new season.

A trailer for Wednesday Season 2 Part 1 was released in July 2025, and it shows Wednesday grappling with new supernatural threats at Nevermore Academy. After becoming a reluctant hero in Season 1, Wednesday is haunted by disturbing visions, including one of her best friend Enid’s death. She vows to stop it, saying, “Enid dies and it’s all my fault. I’ll die trying.”

While on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon in March 2023, Jenna gave a little hint as to what to expect in season 2. “We just started getting a writers’ room together and talking about it,” she said.  Everybody’s being really cool. I think we want to up the kind of the horror aspect a little bit and get Wednesday out of the romantic situation and just let her be her own individual and fight her own crime.

Jenna gave a taste of what’s to come during her Variety Actors on Actors interview with Elle Fanning in 2023. She said at the time they wanted to “lean into the horror aspect of the show” more in season 2.

“I just got a couple of the outlines for the first couple episodes. So it’s still very much coming together,” she said. “We’ve had a lot of conversations and we’ve decided things that we want to enhance and dive a little bit deeper in. I think we want to lean into the horror aspect of the show more because it is so light-hearted. I think that we’re kind of ditching any romantic love interest for Wednesday, which is great. And then also, we have such incredible female leads in the show.” She added, “I think we’re gonna get a lot more bolder. A lot more dark.”

At the end of the first season, Nevermore Academy was shut down for the remainder of the semester. Co-showrunner Alfred told THR that the school being closed “gave us the most possibilities for season 2, and I think that’s something that we’re excited to explore.”

He noted that the show is ultimately about the “female friendship” between Wednesday and Enid. However, many fans believe Wednesday and Enid have romantic feelings for each other. Here’s what Miles had to say:

“As Al said, this idea of sisterhood is key to the show. We’re not gonna discount anything, and, obviously, sometimes characters reveal themselves, which is the fun thing we love about television, that it’s an organic journey. We have a roadmap, and we’d like to have routes along that map that take you in unexpected directions. So, we’re open to everything. We wanna explore that friendship in every way, but we’re not gonna be, this is where you sometimes get misdirected by fans and things like that, so it’s just being really open to see how those characters develop and that friendship. As Al said, that friendship is key to our sort of vision of the show.”

Wednesday did open her heart a little in season 1 and developed feelings for Tyler. When he turned out to be the Hyde, that was obviously a shock to the system. In the final moments of the finale, Xavier gave Wednesday her first phone and hinted that she should text him sometime. Xavier and Wednesday definitely had a will-they-or-won’t-they element in season 1, so season 2 could go down the romantic route for them.

During Netflix’s TUDUM event on June 17, 2023, the Wednesday cast filmed a video and discussed popular fan theories. “Wednesday season 2 is being worked on right now, and the storyline is so top secret, even we don’t know what’s going to happen,” Emma Myers said in the video.
