Inside Prison Life at MDC Brooklyn – Hollywood Life

Sean “Diddy” Combs spent months behind bars at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn while awaiting his 2025 sex trafficking trial, and the spotlight only intensified once proceedings began in May 2025. The 55-year-old music mogul was ultimately acquitted of sex trafficking and racketeering charges but found guilty on two counts of transportation for prostitution. His legal team argued for his immediate release, but a judge denied bail under mandatory detention laws. Diddy is now set to be sentenced on October 3, 2025.

Below, read on to find out what life was life for Diddy at MDC Brooklyn and how long he could serve time in jail.

How Many Years Is Diddy Facing in Jail?

After being convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, Diddy faces a maximum possible sentence of 20 years, since each count carries up to 10 years. However, legal experts believe he is far more likely to serve a shorter term. Former federal prosecutor Mitchell Epner told the New York Post on July 2, 2025 that “the convictions … likely will lead to a sentence that will be measured in months, not years,” with sentencing guidelines pointing to a range of 15 to 21 months.

“The defense won three acquittals, with Combs found guilty of the Mann Act transportation of former girlfriends Cassie Ventura and ‘Jane’,” NBC reported.

Prosecutors, however, are pushing for a much harsher outcome. In a September 2025 sentencing memo, they requested more than 11 years in prison, arguing that Diddy has shown no remorse and remains “unrepentant.” Meanwhile, his defense team has emphasized his behavior while in custody, pointing to his creation of a jailhouse program called Free Game With Diddy, in which he teaches business and self-development classes to other inmates. Letters from participants were submitted to the court in hopes of showing evidence of rehabilitation.

His sentencing is set for October 3, 2025, when the judge will ultimately decide whether to impose a lighter sentence, follow guideline recommendations, or agree with prosecutors seeking a lengthy prison term.

Why Was Diddy on Suicide Watch at MDC Brooklyn?

Combs was placed in federal custody in New York City in September 2024, with guards at the Metropolitan Detention Center closely monitoring him, multiple sources confirmed to People. One source described the suicide watch as “procedural for high-profile clients.” The facility has previously held public figures such as R. Kelly, Ghislaine Maxwell, and Sam Bankman-Fried.

Representing the singer, Marc Agnifilo and Teny R. Geragos wrote in a bail proposal rejected by two Manhattan judges earlier this week that the Brooklyn facility is “not fit for pre-trial detention,” describing the conditions as “horrific.”

Cameron Lindsay, a retired warden of MDC Brooklyn and an expert witness in corrections, noted, “His celebrity status and the allegations of violence against women make him a very attractive target for assault.”

“In the subculture of jails and prisons, delivering a hit on someone like him would be considered a badge of honor,” Lindsay added.

What Is MDC Brooklyn?

MDC Brooklyn is a federal detention facility located in the Sunset Park neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York, housing both male and female inmates. According to CNN, Combs is being held alone in the Special Housing Unit at MDC Brooklyn, which is separate from the general inmate population and designated for inmates needing protection.

Lindsay described the facility as “austere” and “cold,” explaining that Diddy would not have access to the internet, and any outdoor recreational time would be spent in an enclosed area.

— Annie Correal (@anniecorreal) February 2, 2019

In a phone interview, R. Kelly’s lawyer, Nicole Blank Becker, described Kelly’s time at the Brooklyn facility as “mentally crippling” and “one of the worst experiences I have ever heard of.”

“If Diddy is going to experience anything like what R. Kelly went through, it’s not going to be good,” Blank Becker said, expressing her belief that the jail is “not at all” safe. “Daily, we were concerned about whether R. Kelly was alive, frankly,” she added. “It is inhumane—a whole other world. I mean, grown men cry.”

When Was Diddy Imprisoned at MDC Brooklyn?

Diddy was being held at MDC Brooklyn since his September 2024 arrest after being denied bail. During his court appearance to offer a $50 million bond, a judge ruled that he must remain in custody as his case proceeds.

Agnifilo stated that they plan to appeal the judge’s ruling. Speaking to reporters, the attorney emphasized that his client came to New York “to turn himself in” to comply with the law. “Why doesn’t the government want him to turn himself in? Because then they can’t ask for detention,” Agnifilo claimed. “All we can do is show good faith. He got on a plane and came here. They arrested a guy who came here to turn himself in.”

Combs was accused of orchestrating a “criminal enterprise” through his business that perpetuated “sex trafficking, forced labor, kidnapping, arson, bribery, and obstruction of justice.” Additionally, he is alleged to have threatened and coerced “women and those around him to fulfill his sexual desires” by participating in “Freak Offs,” which involved recorded forced sexual acts. Federal agents claimed they seized more than 1,000 bottles of baby oil and other lubricants from Combs’ homes, which were used in these acts.

He was found not guilty of sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy but guilty of two charges of transportation to engage in prostitution.

“What are the odds of that, right? We deeply apologize for any inconvenience we may have caused.” Wow. Another remarkably clever, ingeniously shot new short film from filmmaker Jon Walkup. After recently premiering at a film festival, the 5-minute short is now available online to watch below. A Minute on Each Side is about James making a microwave burrito for dinner. But there is a bit more to it than that… Here’s the intro: A man’s life falls apart in the time it takes to microwave a burrito. Starring Jake Lewis as James, and director Jon Walkup as the voice on the other end of the phone. It’s also the winner of an Audience Award from the 2025 Nashville Film Festival. Walkup also produced a few other worth watching shorts The Cowboy & The Samurai and Such Good Friends which we’ve featured, and he directed Big Fun. He’s getting better and better with every new film he makes. And this is another impressive dark comedy – watch below.

A Minute on Each Side - Short Film

Thanks to Jon for the tip on this film debuting online. Brief intro via YouTube: “In this comedy-thriller, a man’s life falls apart in real time while a frozen burrito cooks in the microwave. Shot in a single five-minute take from inside the microwave, the film turns an everyday convenience into a front-row seat to a personal nightmare.” A Minute on Each Side is directed by up-and-coming indie filmmaker Jon Walkup, director of many other short films & music videos (producer on The Cowboy & The Samurai, Such Good Friends), as well as his first feature Big Fun a few years ago. You can also follow him on IG @jonwalkup. Written by Jon Walkup & Bri Klaproth. Produced by Bri Klaproth, Rachel Rambaldi, Jon Walkup. With cinematography by Cooper Shine. Sean “Diddy” Combs rose to fame in the 1990s as the founder of Bad Boy Entertainment, shaping the sound of hip-hop with artists like The Notorious B.I.G., Faith Evans, and Mase. Over the decades, he expanded his empire into fashion, spirits, and television, becoming one of the most influential figures in music and business. But in 2025, Diddy’s legacy has been overshadowed by mounting legal troubles. Following multiple sexual abuse allegations and a federal sex trafficking investigation, the music mogul went to trial in May 2025 and was ultimately found guilty on two counts of Mann Act transportation to engage in prostitution.

With his sentencing scheduled for October 3, 2025, questions are growing about how his conviction could reshape his finances and business holdings. Learn where Diddy’s net worth and fortune stand now after his trial.

What Is Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ Net Worth?

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Combs has an estimated net worth of $400 million. That number, however, may not remain stable. His conviction and ongoing legal battles have already caused damage to his reputation and business relationships, while the costs of his defense, which likely run into the millions, remain undisclosed. Several brands and partners have also begun cutting ties with the hip-hop mogul, raising further questions about the long-term future of his empire.

While in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, Diddy began teaching a voluntary class called Free Game With Diddy, where he shared business and life lessons with fellow inmates at no cost. His legal team has highlighted the program and even submitted letters from participants praising his mentorship as evidence of rehabilitation, though it remains unclear whether this will influence his sentencing.

How Did Diddy Make Money?

Being a record producer, music artist, a designer and an entrepreneur, Diddy was able to build his high net worth over time. After creating his record label, Bad Boy Entertainment, in the early 1990s, Combs was able to earn a hefty income over the years. His business was able to sign several well-known music artists, including Machine Gun Kelly and Janelle Monáe.

By the late 1990s, Bad Boy was reportedly worth about $100 million.

Why Is Diddy in Jail?

In 2023, multiple sexual abuse allegations surfaced against Diddy, including from his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura. Though they settled their legal dispute by the end of the year, a shocking video resurfaced in mid-2024 of Combs dragging and beating Ventura in 2016 surveillance footage. Diddy posted an Instagram video admitting that he was “disgusted” with his behavior in the footage. However, Homeland Security had raided his two properties in Los Angeles and Miami due to accusations of sex trafficking. Federal agents discovered narcotics, 1,000 bottles of baby oil and various “freak off” supplies.

By September 2024, Combs was arrested in New York City and charged with three felony counts of sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution. He pleaded not guilty and proposed a $50 million bail in order to be released from police custody. However, he is currently being held behind bars at MDC Brooklyn. Jury deliberations in his sex trafficking trial began at the end of June 2025 and concluded three days later in July.

Combs was found guilty of two lesser charges. He has remained behind bars at MDC Brooklyn since, with sentencing scheduled for October 3, 2025.

“Someday we’ll all be living in computers…” That’s for sure. Oscilloscope Labs has unveiled the full trailer for OBEX, a peculiar indie horror fantasy sci-fi creation from the mind of filmmaker Albert Birney (also of Strawberry Mansion). This first premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival in the experimental Next section, then played at the RiverRun, Atlanta, Chicago Critics, Sydney, Munich, Fantasia, & Vancouver Film Festivals during the year. Set in the 1980s, Conor Marsh’s secluded life disrupted when he gets a start of the art new game called OBEX which claims to digitize the player and put them into the game. But when he starts playing, his dog Sandy disappears, blurring reality and game. Conor enters the OBEX world to rescue Sandy, navigating its strange realms. A black-and-white surreal fantasy film. Starring Albert Birney as Conor, Callie Hernandez, Paisley Isaacs, Frank Mosley, Tyler Davis, and more. This nerdy little film has such a funky retro vibe, with all the clunky hardware and 8-bit chunkiness from the 80s. It’s a unique & entertaining indie project that I hope cinephiles of all kinds watch out for when it’s in theaters. View below.

Here’s the main official trailer (+ poster) for Albert Birney’s film OBEX, direct from YouTube:

In pre-internet 1987, Conor (starring Albert Birney) and his dog named Sandy live a life of seclusion, lost in the slow-rendering graphics of early Macs and televisions aglow with late night horror marathons. But when he begins playing OBEX, a new and mysterious, state-of-the-art computer game, he finds himself trapped in a low-tech, but high-stakes analog hellscape as the line between reality and game blurs. OBEX is directed by the indie actor / writer / filmmaker Albert Birney, director of the films The Beast Pageant, Sylvio, Tux and Fanny, Strawberry Mansion, and Eyeballs in the Darkness previously. The screenplay is written by Albert Birney and Pete Ohs. Produced by James Belfer, Albert Birney, Emma Hannaway, Pete Ohs. This initially premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year in the Next section, with a stop at the Chicago Critics Film Festival in the summer. Oscilliscope Labs will debut Birney’s OBEX film in select US theaters starting on January 9th, 2026 early next year. So who’s intrigued? Would you play? 💀

On September 16, 2024, Sean “Diddy” Combs was arrested in New York by federal agents and was charged with three felony counts: racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. The news came amid the rapper and music producer’s legal woes, including a 2023 lawsuit filed by his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, who claimed that he sexually assaulted her. Although he denied the claims and settled the case, Combs was placed under investigation by Homeland Security.

Diddy’s trial began in May 2025 and drew nationwide attention. After weeks of testimony, a jury acquitted him of the most serious charges—sex trafficking and racketeering—but found him guilty on two counts of Mann Act transportation to engage in prostitution. He has remained in custody at MDC Brooklyn as he awaits sentencing on October 3, 2025.

Below, learn more about Diddy’s legal troubles, the trial, and what’s next for the music mogul.

When Was Diddy’s Trial?

Diddy’s federal trial began on May 12, 2025, in New York. The government’s star witness was his ex-girlfriend Cassie, whose emotional testimony made headlines and struck a chord with both the courtroom and the public. Other witnesses included former Danity Kane singer Dawn Richard, Cassie’s best friend Kerry Morgan, and Combs’ former assistant David James, each offering accounts that added weight to the prosecution’s case.

After weeks of testimony, closing arguments were delivered during the week of June 24, 2025, before the jury began deliberations.

Why Was Diddy Arrested?

Diddy was arrested on September 16, 2024, and the charges against him were revealed when he was taken into custody on September 17. According to his indictment, he and his alleged accomplices participated in “sex trafficking, forced labor, kidnapping, arson, bribery, and obstruction of justice” all while allegedly running a “criminal enterprise.”

The music mogul is currently in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.

His lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, told reporters at the time of his arrest, “He came to New York to basically engage the court system and start the case, and it will start today, and he’s going to plead not guilty.” Agnifilo added, “He’s going to fight this with all of his energy and all of his might and the full confidence of his lawyers.”

Why Were Diddy’s Houses Raided?

BREAKING

TMZ is reporting they’ve also raided his home in Miami. pic.twitter.com/w6hwKiRLwe

— Yashar Ali 🐘 (@yashar) March 25, 2024

Homeland Security did not publicly explain the reason behind its raid on Diddy’s home. However, the agency released a statement to multiple outlets about the incident.

“Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) New York executed law enforcement actions as part of an ongoing investigation, with assistance from HSI Los Angeles, HSI Miami, and our local law enforcement partners,” Homeland Security explained in a statement, per CNN. “We will provide further information as it becomes available.”

According to NBC, a source told the outlet that “three women and a man have been interviewed by federal officials in Manhattan in relation to allegations of sex trafficking, sexual assault and the solicitation and distribution of illegal narcotics and firearms.” The outlet also reported that Homeland Security and federal agents executed search warrants at Diddy’s L.A. and Miami properties. Following the raid, it was reported that law enforcement found firearms at both of the rapper’s residences.

What Did Diddy Do?

Combs previously made headlines for multiple allegations of sexual assault in late 2023. That November, Diddy’s ex-girlfriend Ventura filed a lawsuit against him in the Federal District Court in New York City for alleged rape and abuse.

According to court documents from Ventura’s lawsuit, she accused Combs of “beating her” and “forcing her to have sex” with “male prostitutes” while Diddy allegedly recorded the sexual “encounters.” At the time when Ventura and Combs began dating when she was 19 and he was in his 30s. The exes had an on and off relationship for several years.

In response to the claims, Combs defended himself in an Instagram statement—which now appears to have been deleted.

“ENOUGH IS ENOUGH,” he wrote. “For the last couple of weeks, I have sat silently and watched people try to assassinate my character, destroy my reputation and my legacy. Sickening allegations have been made against me by individuals looking for a quick pay day. Let me be absolutely clear: I did not do any of the awful things being alleged. I will fight for my name, my family and for the truth.”

Diddy’s lawyer, Ben Brafman, also released a statement as well, denying the sexual assault allegations.

Shortly thereafter, Ventura and Combs settled the case that month. However, in December 2023, another woman came forward with accusations of sexual assault against Combs. She claimed that he raped her in 2003 when she was 17.

By early 2024, Diddy was facing five accusations of sexual assault. Among the accusers is a man who was 16 at the time of the alleged incident and a woman who was a 19-year-old college student when she alleges Combs raped her in a Manhattan hotel room in 2004. All of the alleged incidents occurred in New York City or the Hamptons, according to the suits. Two of the lawsuits include incidents alleged to have happened at Combs’ lavish Labor Day “White Parties” at his Hamptons property.

In April 2025, actor Terence Howard claimed that Combs tried to have sex with him in a past encounter. Howard unraveled the alleged incident during an appearance on the “PBD Podcast.”

During the opening statements of Diddy’s trial, prosecutors unveiled a startling new set of claims against him. Ventura claimed that her ex had a male escort urinate in her mouth and introduced her to his “freak offs.”

What Are Diddy’s Charges?

Prosecutors decided to drop three of the charges against Combs when closing arguments began in late June 2025. The dismissed charges, indicted in a letter to the judge, were the following: attempted kidnapping under both California and New York law, attempted arson under California law, and aiding and abetting sex trafficking, according to multiple outlets.

Official Trailer for Polygamy Supernatural Horror ‘The Vile’ from UAE

“He brought home a second wife. But something else followed…” The first official trailer has debuted for a film titled The Vile, a supernatural horror thriller from UAE (United Arab Emirates). Directed by genre filmmaker Majid Al Ansari as his second horror feature so far, this film just premiered at Fantastic Fest last month where it won Best Film from the jury. It also plays at the Sitges Film Festival in Spain next this month. When a man decides to bring home a second wife, the new bride is not the only thing that enters the family house. Amani’s peaceful life as a wife and mother shatters when her husband brings home a second wife without her consent, unleashing mysterious dark forces into their household. Blending supernatural & horror elements, the film is a viscerally gripping exploration of polygamy, greed, betrayal, and trauma—told through the eyes of a mother and her daughter. Starring Bdoor Mohammed, Sarah Taibah, and Eman Tarik. While polygamy is a familiar concept in the UAE, Al Ansari’s film boldly questions notions of gender inequality & consent in relationships, making The Vile as thought-provoking as it is unsettling. Al Ansari found inspiration from legendary genre cult classics including Fatal Attraction and Whatever Happened to Baby Jane, offering audiences a truly diabolical cinematic feast for the senses. Worth a look! Check this out.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Majid Al Ansari’s horror film The Vile, direct from YouTube:

“As a huge horror fan and as a filmmaker who has predominantly worked in this genre, I wanted to create a female-led film where the fear factor stems from the trauma that is inflicted after a man decides to marry for a second time, without the consent of his current wife. I had to get as close as I could to the same kinds of emotions women could experience when they are confronted by this situation. Empathy alone was not going to be enough and I spent an intense period researching so that I could tell this story in an authentic way. I didn’t want to make a statement or judgement about polygamy, but rather visually express a family’s psychological and emotional journey as a result of deception and secrecy.” –Director Majid Al Ansari

Amani (Bdoor Mohammad) is blindsided & heartbroken when her husband, Khalid (Jasem Alkharraz), brings a second wife into their home. Forced to accept the circumstances and determined to fight for the sake of her daughter, Noor, Amani remains in the house and attempts to assert her role as the family’s matriarch. Living with the new bride, Zahra (Sarah Taibah), crushes Amani emotionally & sends her into a downward spiral. When ominous, seemingly paranormal events begin to overtake the house, Amani launches a frenzied search for answers, leaving Noor fearful for her mom’s own sanity. Driven by instinct and terror, Amani becomes increasingly convinced there is something sinister in Zahra’s past—but her desperate quest for the truth threatens to push her further from reality. The Vile, also known as Hoba, is directed by UAE filmmaker Majid Al Ansari, director of the film Zinzana (or Rattle The Cage) previously, and a few other shorts. The screenplay is by Majid Al Ansari and Johnnie Alward, from a story by Majid Al Ansari. Produced by Derek Dauchy, Roy Lee, Steven Schneider, and Rami Yasin. This premiered at Fantastic Fest and plays at the 2025 London & Sitges Film Festivals this fall. No US release date is set yet – stay tuned.

Why Are There So Many Plane Crashes Lately? What Experts Say – Hollywood Life

by jummy84 October 2, 2025
written by jummy84

Frequent travelers are growing increasingly concerned about a series of back-to-back aviation incidents that have occurred since the start of 2025. At the beginning of the year, an American Airlines jet collided with a Black Hawk helicopter near Washington, D.C., resulting in the deaths of all 67 passengers. Following that, a medical transport plane crashed in Northeast Philadelphia, a United Airlines flight started smoking shortly before takeoff in Houston, Texas, and a Delta Airlines flight crash-landed in Toronto. The tragedies have been going on for months now, the most recent being two Delta jets colliding on the taxiway of New York’s Laguardia Airport.

Global fears intensified following the devastating crash of Air India Flight AI 171 in June, which killed 241 people and left only one survivor, marking the first fatal accident involving a Boeing 787 jet. Just weeks later, another fatal crash occurred on July 13 at London’s Southend Airport, when a small aircraft burst into flames shortly after takeoff, killing all four people on board.

With the list of incidents continuing to grow, many are left wondering: why are so many aviation emergencies happening in 2025, and is it still safe to fly? Below, read on about the reported plane collisions, crashes, and other incidents in the U.S. in 2025.

Plane Crashes in the USA So Far in 2025

There have been hundreds of aviation crashes in the United States from January 1 through today, according to the NTSB. Not all of them have been fatal, however.

Why Are There So Many Plane Crashes Lately?

A surge in aviation incidents throughout 2025 has raised alarm among travelers and aviation authorities alike. The causes vary, including mechanical failures, pilot error, congested airspace, and gaps in emergency response. Investigators from agencies such as the NTSB in the U.S. and the UK’s AAIB are working to identify the root causes.

Is it Safe to Fly Now?

Experts have pointed to the statistics that prove it’s still safe to fly in the U.S. According to aviation safety expert Anthony Brickhouse, passengers are “safer in your flight than you were driving in your car to the airport … statistically speaking,” he told CNN in January 2025.

“Air travel remains the safest mode of transportation,” Brickhouse insisted. “And in safety, we identify trends … something that happens over and over again. And in the safety world, if you keep having near-misses, eventually you’re going to have a midair (collision).”

Still, Brickhouse noted that he thinks “it’s important for the flying public to be vocal and demand that the government and the different entities do everything possible to make air travel as safe as possible.”

In 2024, Bloomberg reported that it was the deadliest year for the aviation industry since 2018; last year, there were about 300 fatalities around the world.

Some people struggle with a fear of flying, otherwise known as Aerophobia. According to the Cleveland Clinic, around 25 million American adults live with Aerophobia.

“All they want is to be who they are, yet the world is determined go there and destroy them!” Yep! She’s right. Vertical has unveiled their official trailer for a movie titled Last Days, the first non-Fast & Furious movie directed by filmmaker Justin Lin in a while. The film premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and will be out to watch coming soon this fall. The film tells the story of John Allen Chau, an idealistic missionary wanting to make contact with the “Sentinelese“, an isolated tribe living on North Sentinel Island in the Indian Ocean. It’s the same story told in the doc film The Mission, which everyone is familiar with because he was killed by this island tribe at the shore. A 26-year-old missionary journeys to the remote North Sentinel Island, determined to convert an isolated tribe, while the authorities attempt to intervene before potential harm occurs. Starring Sky Yang as John Allen Chau, with Radhika Apte, Ken Leung, Naveen Andrews, Toby Wallace, and Ciara Bravo. This movie looks like it glorifies this kid way too much, when in reality, he was just a dangerous idiot who had no valid reason to go there. Oh well…

The screenplay is written by Ben Ripley. Based on the true story of John Allen Chau; inspired by the article “The Last Days of John Allen Chau” written by Alex Perry. It’s produced by Salvador Gatdula, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Justin Lin, Eric Ian Robinson, Andrew Schneider, and Clayton Townsend. This initially premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. Vertical will debut Lin’s Last Days film in select US theaters + on VOD starting October 24th, 2025 this fall. Look any good?

Meet Rama Duwaji – Hollywood Life

Zohran Mamdani has become a local celebrity in New York City. While running for mayor this year, he’s remained focused on his promises to New Yorkers — to target the affordability crisis, for starters. And by his side the whole way has been his wife, Syrian artist Rama Duwaji, whom he married in early 2025.

Below, learn more about Zohran and Rama’s relationship.

Zohran & Rama Met on Hinge

Zohran and Rama have a modern love story — they met on the dating app Hinge, which the politician credited during a past interview on “The Bulwark” podcast by noting there’s “still hope in those dating apps.”

Rama Is an Illustrator & Animator

As seen on her Instagram page, Rama is a skilled and dedicated artist. She regularly shares her work on social media and has been featured in multiple publications, including The New Yorker.

Rama & Zohran Married in 2025

In early 2025, Zohran and Rama got married in New York City at the Clerk’s office. They kept their vows low-key while Zohran pursued the mayoral ticket. While speaking to Interview Magazine about the civil ceremony, Zohran said about the Clerk’s office, “The outside is just so beautiful and reminiscent of a different New York City, and the inside is in many ways public goods personified. All of these New Yorkers getting married at the same time at different ages and at different times in their lives, it’s very beautiful.”

Zohran Calls Her the Love of His Life

Being close to a politician comes with its downsides. As her husband rose to prominence, Rama faced online bullying, but Zohran wasn’t having any of it. In a May 2025 Instagram carousel, he shared pictures from his and Rama’s wedding and defended her against “right-wing trolls.”

“If you take a look at Twitter today, or any day for that matter, you know how vicious politics can be,” Zohran acknowledged. “I usually brush it off, whether it’s death threats or calls for me to be deported. But it’s different when it’s about those you love. Three months ago, I married the love of my life, Rama, at the City Clerk’s office. Now, right-wing trolls are trying to make this race — which should be about you — about her. Rama isn’t just my wife, she’s an incredible artist who deserves to be known on her own terms. You can critique my views, but not my family.”

“Who are you? You know who I am…” Magnolia Pictures has unveiled the official trailer for an intriguing experimental genre creation called The Carpenter’s Son, described as sort of a horror take on the story of Jesus. Yes, for real. It’s from the same director behind the other visionary films 12 O’Clock Boys and Harka. The film is based on the apocryphal gospel, the Infancy Gospel of Thomas. A remote village in Roman-era Egypt explodes into spiritual warfare when a carpenter & his son Jesus are targeted by supernatural forces. A boy, known as “The Boy”, is driven to doubt by another mysterious child and rebels against his guardian, revealing inherent powers and a fate beyond his comprehension. As he exercises his own power, the Boy and his family become the target of horrors, natural & divine. The film stars Nicolas Cage as The Carpenter, FKA Twigs as The Mother, Noah Jupe as The Boy, with Souheila Yacoub and Isla Johnston. Set for release in theaters this November. Director Lotfy Nathan, drawing from his Coptic Christian background, delivers a meticulously crafted, genre-bending supernatural thriller packed with unshakeable images. Gotta say I’m certainly curious about this, looks like a unique take on the classic biblical tale. What do you think?

Here’s the full official trailer (+ poster) for Lotfy Nathan’s film The Carpenter’s Son, from YouTube:

A remote village in Roman-era Egypt explodes into spiritual warfare when a carpenter, his wife and their child are targeted by supernatural forces. Joseph (Cage), Mary (FKA Twigs) and their teenage son Jesus (Jupe) have lived for years under threat, clinging to their faith and traditions. But a stopover in a small settlement unleashes growing chaos when a mysterious stranger (Isla Johnston) tries to entice Jesus to abandon his devout father’s rules. With every pull of temptation, the boy is lured into a forbidden world, as a terrified Joseph realizes that a demonic power is at work. Violent, unnatural events inexplicably follow Jesus, and he begins to experience nightmarish visions of the future. Finally, he learns the fearsome truth about his new playmate, as well as the child’s real name: Satan. The Carpenter’s Son is written and directed by British-American visionary filmmaker Lotfy Nathan, director of the films 12 O’Clock Boys and Harka previously, plus a few other shorts. Inspired by the classic “Infancy Gospel of Thomas“. Produced by Brahim Chioua, Eva Diederix, Alex Hughes, Yiannis Iakovidis, Eugene Kotlyarenko, Riccardo Maddalosso, Vincent Maraval, Solène Michel, Julie Viez, and Nicolas Cage. This hasn’t premiered at any film festivals or elsewhere, as far as we know. Magnolia Pictures will debut Lofty Nathan’s The Carpenter’s Son film in select US theaters starting November 14th, 2025 coming soon this fall. First impression? Who’s interested n it?
