I’m not afraid anymore…” Fandor has revealed an official trailer for the acclaimed thriller The Things You Kill, a film set in Turkey made by award-winning Canadian-Iranian director named Alireza Khatami. This first premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival earlier in the year, earning some rave reviews from critics. The film stars Ekin Koç, Erkan Kolçak Köstendil, Hazar Ergüçlü, Ercan Kesal, Serhat Nalbantoğlu, Aysan Sümercan, & Selen Kurtaran. Opening in limited US theaters in November. Will the Netflix TV Show Return? – Hollywood Life

Netflix’s Boots quickly became a hit after its debut on the streamer on October 9, 2025. Based on Greg Cope White’s 2015 memoir, The Pink Marine, the series follows bullied gay teenager Cameron Cope (Miles Heizer), who joins the United States Marine Corps with his best friend. Since all episodes were released the same day, fans are wondering if a season 2 is in the cards.

Hollywood Life has the latest updates on the possibility of a second season of Boots below.

What Is the Boots TV Show About?

According to its logline, Boots follows Cameron, a “bullied gay teen [who] joins the Marine Corps with his best friend despite risks. In boot camp they experience profound personal change amid danger, as their platoon confronts both literal and figurative landmines.”

Will There Be a Season 2 of Boots?

At the time of publication, Netflix has not announced a season 2 of Boots yet. However, Heizer hopes to continue the show. He previously told Variety that there were still “a lot of stories to tell, from more of Greg’s different experiences in the Marines to ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ to when it was repealed.”

“I would do it for 10 seasons if they let us,” the 13 Reason Why alum added.

'Boots' Season 2: Will the Netflix TV Show Return?

Who Is in the Boots Cast?

Heizer leads the cast, playing Cameron Cope, in addition to Liam Oh as Ray McAffey, Max Parker as Sergeant Liam Robert Sullivan, Vera Farmiga as Barbara Cope, Cedrick Cooper as Staff Sergeant Marcus McKinnon, Ana Ayora as Captain Denise Fajardo, Angus O’Brien as Thaddeus Beau Sterling Hicks and Dominic Goodman as Isaiah Nash.

Pentagon’s Reaction to Boots: Read Statement

The Pentagon slammed Netflix for its “woke garbage” (without directly naming Boots) in a statement obtained by Entertainment Weekly.

“Under President Donald Trump and Secretary [Pete] Hegseth, the U.S. military is getting back to restoring the warrior ethos,” Pentagon Press Secretary Kingsley Wilson said in the statement. “Our standards across the board are elite, uniform, and sex neutral because the weight of a rucksack or a human being doesn’t care if you’re a man, a woman, gay, or straight.”

Kingsley went on to note that officials “will not compromise our standards to satisfy an ideological agenda, unlike Netflix whose leadership consistently produces and feeds woke garbage to their audience and children.”

Is it Illegal to Be Gay in the U.S. Marines?

It is not currently illegal to be openly gay in the U.S. Marine Corps. However, it was illegal in the 1990s, when Boots is set. At the time, the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy was in play from 1994 until 2011. Under this policy, if a Marine’s homosexuality or bisexuality became known, they could face discharge.

“Santa’s gonna slay!” Oh dang! 🎅🪓 This looks gnarly. Cineverse has revealed the main official trailer for the modern remake of horror cult classic Silent Night, Deadly Night – which is coming to disturb your holiday season this year. “In 1984, one film shocked audiences, was banned from theaters, and traumatized a generation. From the studio that brought you Terrifier 3, comes a new, and unrated, vision of the cult classic. This Christmas, spread the holiday fear.” Not for everyone! A child witnesses his parents’ murder by a man in a Santa suit. Years later, now as an adult, he dons a Santa costume himself and embarks on a violent quest for retribution against those responsible for the traumatic event in his childhood… Written & directed by Mike P. Nelson, this horror stars Rohan Campbell, Ruby Modine, Mark Acheson, David Lawrence Brown, and David Tomlinson. This freaky film is already set for release in December later in the year. It definitely looks like you have to put the kids to bed before you even consider watching it! Brutal.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Mike P. Nelson’s horror Silent Night, Deadly Night, on YouTube:

In response to the military parade celebrating the 250th anniversary of the US Army but also coinciding with Trump's 79th birthday, a "No Kings" movement has sprung up promising to stage protests in more than 2,000 places across the country, including a large parade expected in Los Angeles which organizers say will feature a "20-foot-tall balloon of Trump wearing a diaper." On June 14, 2025 — Donald Trump’s birthday — he held a military parade honoring the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary, while thousands across the country joined “No Kings” protests against his administration. From Los Angeles to New York City, the demonstrations peaked amid heated clashes over ICE raids and executive overreach.

If you’re unfamiliar with the movement’s goals—or how it’s evolving—here’s what “No Kings” really means below.

How Many ‘No Kings’ Protests Were There?

According to multiple outlets, more than 2,000 “No Kings” protests took place in all 50 states on June 14, 2025.

What Does the ‘No Kings’ Protest Mean?

According to protest organizers, the “No Kings” movement “is a direct response to Donald Trump’s self-aggrandizing $100 million military parade and birthday celebration, an event funded by taxpayers while millions are told there’s no money for Social Security, SNAP, Medicaid, or public schools.”

Organizers added that all “No Kings” mobilizations “adhere to a shared commitment to nonviolent protest and community safety. Organizers are trained in de-escalation and are working closely with local partners to ensure peaceful and powerful actions nationwide.”

The term “No Kings” is also a reference to a leader’s alleged monarchical or authoritarian actions. Actor and activist Mark Ruffalo attended a New York City protest on Saturday and told MSNBC why he and many other celebrities showed up.

“Because we see our democracy is in real trouble,” Mark said. “We see a president who has made himself a king and dictator, and we don’t seen an opposition that’s powerful enough to stand up against the trampling of our rights and the trampling of the Constitution that’s happening every single day with executive orders, with the refusal to obey court orders, kidnapping of immigrants, people who are here legally, people who their children are being taken from them. We’re disgusted and we’re scared, and we know that the only way that — to fight this now is for the people, is to come together.”

Will There Be Another ‘No Kings’ Protest?

Yes, organizers have confirmed a second nationwide “No Kings” protest scheduled for October 18, 2025, with more than 2,500 events planned across all 50 states.

In Texas, Gov. Greg Abbott has activated the National Guard ahead of protests in Austin. Meanwhile, in Salt Lake City, local organizers shifted their plans, canceling a march portion and holding a stationary gathering instead—citing safety concerns from past violence.

The president has received backlash for signing numerous executive orders once he took office in January.

Did Trump Respond to the ‘No Kings’ Protests?

Two days before the “No Kings” rallies took place, Trump told a group of reporters what he thought about the demonstrations.

“I don’t feel like a king,” the president said on June 12. “I have to go through hell to get things approved. Not a king.”

“Spending all that time with a possible murderer doesn’t scare you?” It should! Another unsettling shocker series to watch. Netflix has debuted the main official trailer for another brand new series titled The Beast in Me, a crime thriller following a woman investigating her neighbor. Set to launch on Netflix in November. From the creators of “Homeland” comes another tricky new series. Author Aggie Wiggs, grieving her the loss of her son, finds new purpose unraveling the mystery behind neighbor Nile Sheldon’s vanished wife and his suspicious dealings. At once horrified and fascinated by this man, Aggie finds herself compulsively hunting for the truth – chasing his demons while fleeing her own – in a game of cat & mouse that might turn deadly. Surprise, surprise. The series stars Claire Danes, Matthew Rhys, Brittany Snow, & Natalie Morales. With Jonathan Banks, David Lyons, Tim Guinee, Hettienne Park, Deidre O’Connell, Aleyse Shannon, Will Brill, Kate Burton, Bill Irwin, Amir Arison, & Julie Ann Emery. “The title of the series comes from a Johnny Cash song — but it’s not as simple as it might initially seem. It really is about all of our complicity.” So he’s some kind of Dexter killer (maybe?) but there’s more explaining how we’re all complicit, right? Intriguing…

At once horrified and fascinated by this man, Aggie finds herself compulsively hunting for the truth – chasing his demons while fleeing her own – in a game of cat & mouse that might turn deadly. The Beast in Me is created by writer Gabe Rotter (of “The X-Files”). It’s showrun & co-written by Howard Gordon (of “The X-Files”, “Homeland”, “24”). With writing by Gabe Rotter, Erika Sheffer, C.A. Liam Payne, the English singer and former One Direction star, tragically died at the age of 31, multiple outlets confirmed on October 16, 2024. His sudden death in Buenos Aires sent shockwaves through the music world and among devoted fans who had followed his journey since The X Factor. Payne, who had been staying at the CasaSur Hotel in Palermo, reportedly fell from a third-floor balcony, and authorities later confirmed that he died from multiple traumatic injuries.

Beyond his global fame, Payne was also a devoted father to his now 8-year-old son, Bear Grey Payne, whom he shared with his ex, Cheryl Cole. His passing left the music industry and his devoted fanbase reeling, as many remembered him not only for his voice and stage presence but also for his warmth and humor. Here’s what’s known about Payne’s cause of death and the events surrounding his final days.

How Did Liam Payne Die?

According to multiple outlets, local authorities in Buenos Aires, Argentina, responded to an emergency call, and Payne was found dead after having fallen from his hotel’s third-floor room. Reuters reported that police in the Palermo neighborhood were called in response to an “aggressive man who could be under the effects of drugs and alcohol.” The outlet also reported that emergency responders found Payne dead in the hotel’s interior patio.

Buenos Aires emergency services chief Alberto Crescenti explained how responders tried to resuscitate Liam and pointed out that he had a “cranial fracture” after he fell, according to La Nacion.

“Our role was to head there quickly, give medical attention, and try to resuscitate him, but his injuries were incompatible with life,” Crescenti said. “Based on what the team saw, there was apparently a cranial fracture and extremely serious injuries that led to his immediate death. The team could do absolutely nothing. There was no resuscitation because it was confirmed that he had died. The whole body had very serious injuries.”

In January 2025, Liam’s cause of death was revealed to be from polytrauma, according to multiple outlets. Polytrauma refers to multiple traumatic injuries in a person’s body.

According to a press release from the National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office on February 25, 2025, Liam’s blood alcohol level (BAC) was 0.27 percent at the time of his death. Per E! News, his level was “three times” the legal driving limit in the United States, which is 0.08 percent.

Payne was seemingly in Argentina to attend his former One Direction bandmate Niall Horan‘s concert in Argentina. The late “Strip That Down” artist was seen dancing the famous “Macarena” with fans at the show. Videos of the moment circulated on social media, in addition to another TikTok clip of him sweetly greeting fans from a box suite at the concert venue.

Was One Direction Going to Reunite?

Payne and his former band members, Niall, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson, have expressed an interest in a potential One Direction reunion.

During a 2020 interview with PEOPLE, Payne pointed out that he couldn’t “promise” anything but was still “hopeful” that One Direction would get back together someday.

“I can’t promise any reunion plans because it just isn’t it right now,” the “Teardrops” singer told the publication. “I always put it down to music language because everyone’s releasing at the moment with, like, two years worth of promo. But, you know, it still seems very hopeful in that department. I’m starting to think it’s gonna happen at some point. So, it’s exciting.”

Payne also discussed how he had reconnected with Harry, Niall, Zayn and Louis during the COVID-19 lockdown. During his interview, the U.K. native noted that they all “hadn’t spoken for a while.”

“It’s been nice to open up the channels of communication again because we hadn’t spoken for a while,” Payne began, before adding, “And I think we all needed that after spending so much time together — just to figure out our own selves as people because we all know what we are in the band. … And it’s just nice to see everyone turned out to be nice people, you know?”

“We should’ve gone with my idea.” Netflix has unveiled the trailer for a holiday crime comedy called Jingle Bell Heist, arriving to watch later in November in the holiday season. It’s about two thieves who become lovers who try to pull off the same heist who then run into problems with their heist and their relationship. Two down-on-their-luck hourly workers reluctantly form an alliance to rob one of London’s most illustrious stores on Christmas Eve. As they hatch their plans, the pair start to realize there are sparks between them — and they’re not from the twinkly holiday lights around jolly London town. Starring Olivia Holt as Sophia Martin, who moved to London to care fer her mom; and Connor Swindells as Nick O’Connor, a former security consultant turned phone tech. Along with Lucy Punch, Peter Serafinowicz, Poppy Drayton, Natasha Joseph, and Michael Salami. This looks like a made-for-TV riff on Bad Santa, but without the same crude humor that Billy Bob Thornton brought to that. Another Netflix watch & forget holiday special.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Michael Fimognari’s comedy Jingle Bell Heist, from YouTube:

“This holiday, payback never looked so festive.” Sophia (Olivia Holt), a sharp-witted retail worker, and Nick (Connor Swindells), a down-on-his-luck repairman, are small-time thieves both with eyes on the same Christmas Eve score: robbing London’s most notorious department store. Forced into an uneasy alliance, as secrets surface & feelings for each other deepen, Sophia & Nick put their relationship and the heist in jeopardy. Jingle Bell Heist is directed by American producer / filmmaker Michael Fimognari, director of the films To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You, To All the Boys: Always & Forever, and series “The Midnight Club” & “The Fall of the House of Usher” previously. The screenplay is by Abby McDonald and Amy Reed; and story by Abby McDonald. Produced by Matt Kaplan; co-produced by Shannon Gibson. Netflix debuts Fimognari’s Jingle Bell Heist streaming on Netflix starting November 26th, 2025 this fall.

Ace Frehley is survived by his family. Though his marriage ended decades ago, the late KISS guitarist welcomed a child with his estranged spouse. Now that music fans are learning more about Ace after he died, many are wondering how many children he had.

In October 2025, Ace suffered a fall at home and died at the age of 74. His family paid tribute to the “Rock and Roll All Nite” rocker in a public statement, which read, “We are completely devastated and heartbroken. In his last moments, we were fortunate enough to have been able to surround him with loving, caring, peaceful words, thoughts, prayers and intentions as he left this earth. We cherish all of his finest memories, his laughter, and celebrate his strengths and kindness that he bestowed upon others. The magnitude of his passing is of epic proportions, and beyond comprehension. Reflecting on all of his incredible life achievements, Ace’s memory will continue to live on forever!”

Learn about Ace’s daughter and family below.

How Many Children Did Ace Frehley Have?

Ace had one child, his daughter, Monique.

Monique Frehley Got a Matching Tattoo With Her Dad

Monique was born in 1980 and was occasionally featured on her late father’s Instagram account. In May 2024, Ace shared a photo of him and his daughter when they got matching tattoos.

“Got matching ‘Ace’ tattoos with my daughter Monique back on tour in 2023!” the late rock star captioned his post at the time. “Family ink, rock ‘n’ roll style! Thinkin’ about getting another.”

Who Is the Mother of Ace Frehley’s Daughter Monique?

Jeanette Trerotola, Ace’s estranged wife, is Monique’s mother.

Were Ace Frehley & His Wife Jeanette Divorced?

Jeanette and Ace did not legally divorce, but they were separated for the remainder of his life. After seven years of marriage, the spouses split but did not finalize their divorce.

In his 2012 book, No Regrets, Ace reportedly wrote about the end of his marriage.

“A fresh start was in order and part of the process involved legally separating from my wife,” he wrote in one excerpt from the book.

In 2018, Ace moved on with ex-girlfriend Lara Cove. Six years later, he confirmed their split during a 2024 concert.

“I broke up with my ex, Lara. Sorry. She’s gone,” Ace said, according to several outlets. “I still care about her. Wonderful girl, beautiful girl. We decided to part our own ways, and she’s happy, I’m happy. It was just time. Things go south, right? Three out of four marriages end after five years in this country, statistically. I don’t wanna be a bearer of bad news, but that’s reality.”

VertiGo Sets the Stage for the Future of Storytelling at LA Vertical Drama Market

by jummy84 October 17, 2025
written by jummy84

Los Angeles witnessed a cinematic shift on Wednesday, September 24, as the LA Vertical Drama Market, hosted by VertIGo/Dana Productions, took center stage. The groundbreaking event brought together filmmakers, producers, and digital innovators to celebrate and explore the rise of vertical storytelling, a format that’s rapidly transforming Hollywood’s creative landscape.

At its heart, the LA Vertical Drama Market was a convergence of vision and opportunity. Hosted by Dana Protsyshak, founder of VertIGo, the event gathered a new generation of storytellers determined to challenge convention and embrace innovation. “People were skeptical about verticals at first, but now they want in. Entertainment is changing and you need to adapt to it,” said Dana, reflecting on how the once-dismissed format has become one of the most exciting frontiers in modern filmmaking.

The LA Vertical Drama Market evolved from Dana’s successful VertIGo Vertical Mixers, six of which were hosted earlier in 2025, and represented a natural expansion of her mission to unite creatives working on vertical projects.

“I felt the need to shape the industry around verticals, build the community of creatives who work on verticals and introduce verticals to Hollywood,” Dana explained. “When I was starting in the film industry, attending film festivals and markets gave me lots of insights into the industry and helped me navigate my career as well as meet new people. All this combined shaped the LA Vertical Drama Market.”

Throughout the night, conversations buzzed around the artistic possibilities and challenges that come with the vertical frame, once seen as a social media quirk, now recognized as a powerful storytelling tool. “Vertical frame opens up new opportunities and challenges creatives to explore new ways of telling stories,” Dana shared.

The event also tackled the lingering doubts about the medium. “The ghost of Quibi begins to disappear thanks to the buzz verticals are getting, encouraging filmmakers to explore verticals from a fresh perspective. More and more traditional filmmakers open up to the opportunities verticals give,” she said, addressing how vertical filmmaking is carving out a serious place in the entertainment industry.

The LA Vertical Drama Market wasn’t just an event, it was a declaration. By bridging the gap between Hollywood insiders, independent creators, and digital visionaries, VertIGo set the stage for a new cinematic language.

As the night wrapped in Los Angeles, one message was clear: vertical storytelling isn’t the next big thing, it’s the new normal, shaping Hollywood’s next wave of creativity.

First Look Teaser for ‘Wasteman’ Prison Movie Starring David Jonsson

“You are this close to gettin’ out of here…” Lionsgate UK has revealed the first teaser trailer for the film Wasteman, an acclaimed indie debut from the 2025 Toronto Film Festival. I’ve seen this already – and yep it’s damn good. Definitely one to keep an eye out for. The directorial debut of Cal McMau, Wasteman tells the incredible story of how a convict’s chances for early prison release come under threat from his ruthlessly violent new cellmate in this uncompromisingly brutal British thriller. The film follows parolee Taylor whose fresh start hopes are jeopardized by cellmate Dee’s arrival. As the rebellious Dee takes Taylor under his wing, a vicious attack tests their bond, forcing Taylor to choose between protecting Dee and his own parole chances. Starring the exceptionally talented David Jonsson (last seen in The Long Walk) along with Tom Blyth, plus Alex Hassell, Corin Silva, and Paul Hilton. Though it’s a familiar story of inmates & prison culture, it is worth watching just for the two riveting lead performances and their dynamic within this film.

Here’s the first UK teaser trailer (+ poster) for Cal McMau’s film Wasteman, direct from YouTube:

Wasteman Teaser Trailer

Wasteman Teaser Poster

After years in prison, in which time his son has grown up without him, Taylor’s (David Jonsson) parole is approaching. It’s bad timing, then, that new cellmate Dee (Tom Blyth) ropes Taylor into violent inmate rivalries, endangering his fresh start outside the prison walls. Cal McMau’s feature debut is an intense & claustrophobic portrait of a merciless prison eco-system, featuring standout performances from rising British stars David Jonsson and Tom Blyth. Wasteman is directed by artist / graphics designer / filmmaker Cal McMau, making his first feature film after other video work previously. The screenplay is written by Hunter Andrews and Eoin Doran. Produced by Sophia Gibber and Myles Payne. This initially premiered at the 2025 Toronto & London Film Festivals this year. Lionsgate UK will debut McMau’s Wasteman movie in UK cinemas starting on February 20th, 2026 early next year. No US release date is set. First impression?
