“It’s a fever dream about motherhood.” A24 has posted a “first look” making of promo for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, which is already out in theaters now (go see it!). Made by talented up-and-coming filmmaker Mary Bronstein, this film premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year to rave reviews. With her life crashing down around her, Linda attempts to navigate her child’s illness, her absent husband, a missing person, and an increasingly hostile relationship with her own therapist. I like the way Bronstein describes how the film is abut the mother as an individual: “It’s not a story about a family. It’s a story about this person.” Starring Rose Byrne as Linda, with Conan O’Brien, Danielle Macdonald, ASAP Rocky, Ivy Wolk, Daniel Zolghadri, and Josh Pais. This promo sheds a bit more light on the intent and ideas within this film. I’m glad it’s showing in theaters now – and I hope more people catch up with it soon. Enjoy.

If I Had Legs I’d Kick You is written and directed by American actress / writer / filmmaker Mary Bronstein, her second feature film after making Yeast (2008) previously and one other short film. Produced by Ronald Bronstein, Eli Bush, Richie Doyle, Conor Hannon, Sara Murphy, Josh Safdie, Ryan Zacarias. Alex Vesia is a dedicated husband to his wife, Kayla, who has been his biggest supporter throughout their relationship. She has regularly been seen cheering the Dodgers pitcher on, especially in October 2025 as the team headed for the World Series. However, the couple seemingly ran into troubling times that month when Alex went on leave from baseball for a “personal family matter.”

“It is with a heavy heart that we share that Alex Vesia is away from the team as he and his wife, Kayla, navigate a deeply personal family matter,” Alex’s statement read. “The entire Dodgers organization is sending our thoughts to the Vesia family, and we will provide an update at a later date.”

At the time of publication, it’s still unclear what Alex’s “personal family matter” is.

Who Is Alex Vesia?

Alex is a Major League Baseball pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He joined the team in 2021 after playing for the Miami Marlins for a season. He made his MLB debut with the Marlins in 2020.

Before making it into the big league, Alex played baseball in high school. The California native earned All-East County honors in his senior year. He went undrafted in the 2014 MLB Draft and played for California State University, East Bay.

In 2024, Alex helped the Dodgers win the World Series against the New York Yankees.

As previously noted, Alex’s wife is Kayla. The couple went public with their relationship in 2019 and have been inseparable since. In early 2024, they tied the knot and announced that Kayla was pregnant and expecting their first child the following year.

“Even if it doesn’t work out, at least I tried…” Film Movement has debuted the trailer for a Canadian indie film titled Boxcutter, about an aspiring rapper goes on a quest across the gentrifying streets of Toronto to find his music in time for the event that could change his life. It premiered at the 2024 SXSW Film Festival earlier this year and drops in limited theaters starting today (on October 24th) heading to VOD next month. After aspiring rapper Rome’s apartment is burgled, and his only copy of his music stolen on his laptop, he devises a plan with the help of his friend Jenaya to track down his four producers & reassemble his album in time for an event with megastar music producer Richie Hill. Starring Ashton James as Rome, with Zoe Lewis, Viphusan Vani, Clairmont The Second, Matthew Worku, & Rich Kidd. Per the description, the film offers a gritty, heartfelt coming-of-age story set against the backdrop of Toronto’s vibrant music and art scene. Boxcutter dives into the hustle & grind of independent artistry, exploring the lengths one will go to to protect their passion and dreams. Looks like another great indie discovery this year – worth a watch.

Aspiring rapper Rome (Ashton James) has the talent and vision to break out in Toronto’s hip-hop scene, but his crippling insecurity is holding him back. When he learns that megastar producer Richie Hill will be making an appearance at a local club, Rome seizes the chance to meet him and get his album into Richie’s hands. However, disaster strikes when Rome’s apartment is burglarized and the only copy of his album is stolen. Racing across the city with his friend Jenaya, Rome scrambles to track down his collaborators and his records before the show begins and he misses his one shot. Another Disney reboot is on the way! Following the success of reboots like Raven’s Home and Wizards of Waverly Place, fans can now look forward to the return of Malcolm in the Middle.

According to Deadline in December 2024, Disney Branded Television President Ayo Davis praised the iconic 2000s sitcom, saying, “Malcolm in the Middle is a landmark sitcom that captured the essence of family life with humor, heart and relatability.” She added, “Its hilarious and heartfelt portrayal of a lovably chaotic family resonated with audiences of all ages, and we’re so excited to welcome the original cast back to bring that magic to life again. With Linwood Boomer and the creative team at the helm, these new episodes will have all the laughs, pranks, and mayhem fans loved — along with a few surprises that remind us why this show is so timeless.”

With the series making its comeback, fans are eager to know what to expect, which cast members will return, and when the show will premiere. To answer these questions, Hollywood Life has gathered some details about the ‘Malcolm in the Middle’ reboot.

When Will Malcolm in the Middle Be Released?

According to Forbes, the series is set to be released in 2025, though an exact date has not been confirmed.

Who Will Star in Malcolm in the Middle?

According to Deadline, original cast members Frankie Muniz, Bryan Cranston, and Jane Kaczmarek will reprise their roles as Malcolm and his parents, Hal and Lois, for the four-episode reboot series.

In March 2025, Variety revealed that Malcolm’s siblings, Francis and Reese, played by Christopher Masterson and Justin Berfield, respectively, will be returning for the reboot. However, Erik Per Sullivan, who originally played Dewey, will not be reprising his role. Instead, actor Caleb Ellsworth-Clark will take over the character.

Additionally, Anthony Timpano has been cast as Malcolm’s youngest brother, Jamie, who was seen as a baby and toddler on the original series. Vaughan Murrae will portray Malcolm’s newest sibling, Kelly, whose existence was revealed in the series finale when Lois is seen holding a positive pregnancy test. Keeley Karsten will play Malcolm’s daughter, Leah.

What Will the Malcolm in the Middle Reboot Be About?

According to Variety, the official logline reveals: “Malcolm (Muniz) and his daughter are drawn into the family’s chaos when Hal (Cranston) and Lois (Kaczmarek) demand his presence for their 40th wedding anniversary party.” The reboot promises to show Malcolm as a grown adult with a daughter of his own, bringing a fresh yet nostalgic twist to the beloved series.

With production details still under wraps, fans can anticipate the return of the humor and chaos that made ‘Malcolm in the Middle’ a classic.

This first premiered at the 2025 SXSW Film Festival earlier this year in the Narrative Competition section, though it didn’t win any awards. Two best friends rally the spunky neighbors of their tenement building to help them hide a dead body and get through the night. The first feature directed by actor Ben Jacobson, who also co-stars. It was shot on location right in the big city. Over one wild, sweltering summer day & night in their East Village tenement, streetwise hustler Bunny and his best friend Dino scheme with a crew of eccentric neighbors to cover up a dead body. Chaos reigns as the clock ticks and the heat rises… Starring Mo Stark, Ben Jacobson, Liza Colby, and Tony Drazan. This looks like a knock off version of Aronofsky’s Caught Stealing also this year.

The chess world is mourning the loss of American grandmaster Daniel Naroditsky, who tragically died at the age of 29. The Charlotte Chess Center, where Daniel served as head coach and grandmaster-in-residence, announced his death in a statement on social media on October 20, 2025.

“It is with great sadness that we share the unexpected passing of Daniel Naroditsky,” the statement read, on behalf of his family. “Daniel was a talented chess player, commentator, and educator, and a cherished member of the chess community. He was also a loving son, brother, and loyal friend to many.”

Daniel’s mother, Elena Naroditsky, speaking to the Daily Mail, said that her son had been tormented by repeated accusations and online harassment before his death. She expressed heartbreak over how deeply the unfounded allegations had affected him.

This is Palestine’s submission to the Oscars this year and it will open in January. This first premiered at the 2025 Toronto Film Festival last month, and it next plays at AFI Fest and the Denver Film Festival. The film is set during the years 1936 – 1939 following a man going between Jerusalem and his rural home amid escalating unrest with the British Empire rulers at the time. This is just before the Holocaust and the British Mandate in 1947 & 1948 that would lead to the creation of the State of Israel after 1945. Back in 1936, as Palestinian villages revolt against British colonial rule, Yusuf navigates between Jerusalem and his home during unrest and a pivotal moment for the British Empire just before the start of World War II. The historical drama stars Hiam Abbass, Saleh Bakri, Robert Aramayo, Billy Howle, Liam Cunningham, Yasmine Al-Massri, Dafer L’Abidine, Yumna Marwan, Karim Daoud Anaya, & Jeremy Irons as Commissioner Wauchope.
