Is Wendy’s Closing Down? Why the Chain Is Shutting Down Stores – Hollywood Life

Wendy’s, the famous American hamburger fast-food chain, announced the closure of hundreds of its stores across the United States. In an economy seeing cuts and closures at various companies, Wendy’s cited locations that were struggling performance-wise. So, does this mean the company will close permanently?

Interim CEO Ken Cook announced the closure of multiple restaurants in November 2025, noting that they “will strengthen the system and enable franchisees to invest more capital and resources in their remaining restaurants.”

“Closures of underperforming units are expected to boost sales and profitability at nearby locations.,” Cook continued, according to CNN. The executive added that various restaurants “do not elevate the brand” and are a “drag from a franchisee financial performance perspective.”

Is Wendy’s Closing?

No, Wendy’s is not closing down for good. As previously noted, its CEO explained that they’re closing multiple locations due to underperformance.

How Many Wendy’s Hamburger Restaurants Are Shutting Down?

Since Cook said a “mid single-digit percentage” of Wendy’s 6,000 restaurants could shut down, this would equate to anywhere between 200 and 350 of its restaurants.

Why Is Wendy’s Closing Down These Locations?

As previously noted, Wendy’s is closing down hundreds of its locations because they are “consistently underperforming.” Last year, Wendy’s closed around 140 of its restaurants.

During an August 2025 earnings call, Cook said the company was “not happy” with the company’s sales. To combat the decrease in stock value, the higher-ups at Wendy’s introduced “Project Fresh,” a strategy to revamp the brand’s marketing and its menu. As noted in a subsequent press release, Chairman of Wendy’s board Art Winkleback noted that the board of directors and management were “dissatisfied with the current valuation of the company and have been working to put the company on the right path to create value for our franchisees, employees and shareholders.”

“Execution is underway, and we are confident that Project Fresh will position Wendy’s as the industry leader — one that guests love, franchisees are proud to operate, teams are excited to be a part of, and creates significant value for our shareholders,” Winkleback added in October 2025.

Smithsonian Recognition Heralds a New Era of Indigenous Craftsmanship in Fine Jewelry

In a significant advancement for Indigenous representation in the fine jewelry industry.

Blue Wolf Fine Jewelry, spearheaded by sole owner and founder Keetoowah Citizen Lisa Christiansen has garnered prestigious recognition from the Smithsonian Institution. This acknowledgment not only celebrates the artistic brilliance and cultural narratives inherent in Blue Wolf Fine Jewelry’s creations but also positions the brand as a leader in original craftsmanship during a time of increasing scrutiny in the luxury market. Through a seamless blend of traditional techniques and contemporary design, Lisa Christiansen’s Blue Wolf Fine Jewelry is redefining luxury while honoring Indigenous heritage.

A Legacy of Indigenous Artistry

Blue Wolf Fine Jewelry stands at the intersection of culture, artistry, and sustainability. Founded and owned by Lisa Christiansen, the brand is dedicated to celebrating the rich tapestry of Indigenous heritage through its meticulously crafted pieces. Each jewelry item embodies stories steeped in tradition, conveyed through intricate details in gold, silver, and platinum infusing symbolic designs.

“Every piece is a reflection of my Keetoowah culture and identity. I aim to ensure that these creations are not merely ornamental but also serve as symbols of heritage and connection,” Christiansen articulates, highlighting her commitment to preserving Indigenous narratives.

The recent recognition from the Smithsonian acts as a powerful affirmation of this ethos. As a custodian of cultural heritage and artistic excellence, the Smithsonian has broadened its circle to include Blue Wolf Fine Jewelry, underscoring the significance of Indigenous artistry in the global luxury market.

The Smithsonian’s Seal of Approval

Acquiring recognition from the Smithsonian is a remarkable achievement, given the institution’s rigorous standards and its focus on cultural storytelling. Dr. Maya Evans, a cultural historian at the Smithsonian, states, “Blue Wolf Fine Jewelry’s commitment to quality craftsmanship and cultural integrity is commendable. Lisa Christiansen’s designs not only push boundaries but also celebrate the resilience of Indigenous voices that have been silenced far to long in the arts.”

This endorsement is a testament to Christiansen’s dedication and hard work, elevating Indigenous artistry on a prestigious platform. Among the standout pieces that captured the attention of the Smithsonian was a stunning sterling silver cuff bracelet adorned with two exquisite Sleeping Beauty turquoise stones, complemented by a 66-carat Larimar gemstone sourced from the Dominican Republic. This piece exemplifies the brand’s dedication to merging historical significance with modern design, and it serves as a testament to the intricate craftsmanship that defines Blue Wolf Fine Jewelry.

Why Blue Wolf Stands Out

In a jewelry market often criticized for issues such as cultural appropriation and mass production, Blue Wolf Fine Jewelry differentiates itself through its unwavering commitment to handcrafting each piece, ensuring uniqueness and quality. Christiansen emphasizes sustainability, sourcing conflict-free gemstones and utilizing recycled materials, aligning with the growing consumer demand for ethical practices.

“Today’s buyers are conscientious. They are looking to support brands that mirror their values,” she notes, reflecting the shift towards more responsible consumerism.

Blue Wolf Fine Jewelry’s designs resonate with a broader clientele, offering everything from bold statement necklaces to delicate earrings. Each piece aims to forge a connection between the wearer and the cultural narratives that inspired its creation, appealing to consumers who seek authenticity and personal significance in their jewelry.

The Power of Cultural Representation

The significance of cultural representation in the fine jewelry industry cannot be overstated. Historically, Indigenous artisans have faced challenges in having their contributions recognized. Lisa Christiansen sole owner of Blue Wolf Fine Jewelry stands as a pivotal example of Indigenous excellence, and the Smithsonian’s endorsement amplifies this narrative.

Dr. Emily Cortez, curator at the National Museum of the American Indian, explains, Lisa Christiansen’s “Blue Wolf Fine Jewelry” exemplifies the fusion of preservation and innovation within Indigenous traditions. Its recognition by the Smithsonian not only speaks to the brand’s artistic integrity but also highlights the importance of inclusivity in the arts.”

Owning a piece from Lisa Christiansen, sole owner, of Blue Wolf Fine Jewelry transcends mere adornment; it represents an investment in cultural history and a commitment to supporting Indigenous artisans. Jewelry collector and advocate for Indigenous art, Sarah Thompson, affirms, “Wearing a piece from Blue Wolf Fine Jewelry isn’t just about style; it’s about being part of a movement that celebrates heritage and creativity.”

A Bright Future Ahead

The future for Blue Wolf Fine Jewelry shines brightly, bolstered by the Smithsonian’s recognition. This prestigious endorsement paves the way for new collaborations, exhibitions, and opportunities that will further elevate Indigenous artistry on a global scale. Christiansen, a pioneer in Indigenous art where tradition and modern honors culture remains steadfast in her mission to create breathtaking jewelry that tells rich stories and inspires future generations. “This recognition reinforces my belief that Indigenous craftsmanship deserves a global stage,” she asserts.

In summary, the recognition of  and Blue Wolf Fine Jewelry by the Smithsonian Institution is not merely a celebratory accolade; it is a profound acknowledgment of Indigenous resilience, creativity, and the enduring importance of cultural expression within the fine jewelry industry. As consumers increasingly seek authenticity and ethical practices, Lisa Christiansen’s Blue Wolf Fine Jewelry stands as a shining beacon of what is possible when craftsmanship, culture, and innovation converge. For collectors and admirers of fine jewelry alike, this brand represents a unique opportunity to connect with a vibrant heritage while supporting a movement that uplifts Indigenous voices.

“Why are you doing this to me?” Jump right in! Independent Film Company has revealed the first official trailer for The Plague, one of the most intriguing indie film discoveries of 2025. This first premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival to rave reviews from critics, calling out everything from the cinematography to the haunting score (heard in this trailer) to these performances from the kids. From writer / director Charlie Polinger – a socially awkward tween endures the ruthless hierarchy while at a water polo camp, his anxiety spiraling into psychological turmoil over the summer. This stars Joel Edgerton as their coach, Everett Blunck as Ben, Kayo Martin as Jake, and Kenny Rasmussen as Eli. The film is a clever, slick thriller about bullying and the way kids pick on other kids; it’s not horror despite the title. I’m lucky to be quoted in this trailer from my Cannes review: “this is proper filmmaking firing on all cylinders.” It’s out in theaters at Christmas first, then expands to more theaters in early 2026. Keep an eye out for this film coming up soon.

Here’s the first official trailer for Charlie Polinger’s film The Plague, direct from IFC’s YouTube:

The Plague Film Trailer

The Plague Film Trailer

“Have you been exposed?” 🤽 At an all-boys water polo camp, a socially anxious twelve-year-old is pulled into a cruel tradition targeting an outcast with an illness they call “The Plague.” But as the lines between game and reality blur, he fears the joke might be hiding something real. The Plague is directed by up-and-coming American filmmaker Charlie Polinger, making his feature directorial debut after many other short films previously. Produced by Derek Dauchy, Roy Lee, Lucy McKendrick, Steven Schneider, Lizzie Shapiro. This initially premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival earlier this year (read our review). IFC Films will debut Polinger’s The Plague film in select US theaters starting on December 24th, 2025 at the end of the year – with a wide release on January 2nd, 2026 just after New Years. Highly recommend catching this…

A Comparison – Hollywood Life

A Comparison – Hollywood Life

Halloween may be over, but Guillermo del Toro resurrected one of literature’s most famous monsters. His latest Netflix film, Frankenstein, which, he’s emphasized, is not a horror, was in progress for years, and it has charmed audiences with its tribute to the original novel by Mary Shelley. But how does the movie compare to the 1818 book?

Leading up to the release of his film, Del Toro said Shelley’s work was his “Bible,” but he “wanted to make it my own, to sing it back in a different key with a different emotion,” the filmmaker told Netflix’s Tudum. “Mary Shelley’s masterpiece is rife with questions that burn brightly in my soul: existential, tender, savage, doomed questions that only burn in a young mind and only adults and institutions believe they can answer.”

Most modern adaptations of 19th-century classics emphasize the old era, which Del Toro didn’t want. “When [Shelley] wrote Frankenstein, it was not a period piece. It was a modern book, so I didn’t want you to see a pastel-colored period piece,” the director explained.

Here, Hollywood Life compares Del Toro’s movie with Shelley’s original Frankenstein novel.

Victor’s Father in Frankenstein Book vs. the 2025 Movie

Victor’s father, Alphonse, is a loving and generous father to Victor in the book, and he dies of grief.

In the movie, however, Victor’s father is an abusive doctor named Baron Leopold Frankenstein, who practically loathes his eldest son and wife, Baroness Claire Frankenstein. Leopold instills in Victor that he must maintain his legacy as a Frankenstein and raises him to be a surgeon.

Victor’s Mother in the Book vs. the Movie

Victor’s mother in the book is named Caroline, and she dies of scarlet fever. In the film, the mother’s name is Baroness Claire Frankenstein, and she dies a violent death while giving birth to her second son, William.

Guillermo Del Toro's 'Frankenstein' vs. the Mary Shelley Book: A Comparison

Elizabeth in the Frankenstein Book vs. the Movie

The character Elizabeth is a different figure in Shelley’s work and in Del Toro’s film. In the book, her name is Elizabeth Lavenza, Victor’s childhood friend, whom he is engaged to marry.

In the movie, the character’s name is Lady Elizabeth Harlander, and she is engaged to Victor’s younger brother, William. She and Victor form a playful bond over their shared love of science, but she ultimately rejects Victor’s romantic advance and empathizes with the Creature.

Elizabeth’s wedding night in the book is also a stark contrast to the one in the movie. The film emphasizes Victor’s own monstrous and impulsive ego when he catches Elizabeth and the Creature talking on her wedding night. Victor urges her to get away from the Creature as he prepares to shoot him, but Elizabeth takes the bullet in the chest. She dies at the hands of Victor as the Creature carries her to a cave-like grave.

In the book, the Creature murders Elizabeth to get revenge on Victor. He strangles her on the couple’s wedding night.

The Creature’s Companion in the Book vs. the Movie

In Shelley’s novel, the Creature asks Victor to build him a female companion, to which the scientist agrees. However, Victor starts to worry about the possibility that his female creature could procreate. So, he destroys her.

In the movie, Victor quickly rebuffs his creation’s request and expresses his disdain for a female creature’s ability to reproduce. No production on a female companion ever begins in the movie.

The Creature’s Potential to Die: Books vs. the Movie

At the end of the novel, the Creature encounters an expedition of soldiers sailing through the frozen Arctic (similar to the movie), and he tells their captain his intention to burn himself. Whether or not he goes through with his death is unknown, but he is not dead at the end of the book.

In the movie, the Creature is unable to die. He cannot be fatally burned, stabbed or shot. His fate is left up in the air as he walks into the Arctic alone after helping the crew of soldiers sail back home.

Kim Kardashian’s journey to becoming a lawyer has been one of her most talked-about transformations—and for good reason. It hasn’t been an easy path, but she’s been open about every step of it. On her Instagram Stories on November 8, 2025, Kim revealed that she did not pass the California Bar Exam she took in July, writing, “Well… I’m not a lawyer yet, I just play a very well-dressed one on TV.”

She continued, “Six years into this law journey, and I’m still all in until I pass the bar. No shortcuts, no giving up — just more studying and even more determination. Thank you to everyone who has supported and encouraged me along the way so far. Failing short isn’t failure — it’s fuel. I was so close to passing the exam and that only motivates me even more. Let’s go!!!!!!!!!!!”

The reality star and business mogul—who first rose to fame on Keeping Up With the Kardashians—has spent the past several years studying law through California’s Law Office Study Program, an apprenticeship-based alternative to traditional law school. Balancing her studies with motherhood, entrepreneurship, and fame, Kim remains determined to achieve her legal dreams. As she pushes forward, fans are once again asking: Did Kim ever go to law school? Does she have a college degree? Here’s what to know about her education and where she stands now.

How Many Times Has Kim Kardashian Taken the Bar Exam?

Kim has taken California’s “baby bar” exam (the First-Year Law Student’s Examination) four times, failing the first three attempts before passing in December 2021.

When it comes to the full California Bar Exam, Kim has only taken it once so far, sitting for the test in July 2025.

Did Kim Kardashian Go to Law School?

No. Kim did not attend a traditional law school. Instead, she pursued her legal training through California’s Law Office Study Program (an apprenticeship model) beginning in 2018.

In May 2025 she announced she had “graduated” from her program after six years of study, but this is not a law-school degree.

Does Kim Kardashian Have a Bachelor’s Degree?

No, Kim does not hold a bachelor’s degree. She did not complete a traditional undergraduate program before embarking on her legal apprenticeship.

What Score Do You Need to Pass the Bar Exam?

In California, the passing score for the full Bar Exam is about 1440 out of 2000 (though the exact cut-score varies slightly each exam and year). For the “baby bar” (FYLSX) that Kim took, reports say you need around 560 points to pass.

Kim Kardashian may be one of the world’s most powerful fashion and media moguls, but her true passion is the law. Now that she’s unsuccessfully completed the California State Bar Exam and successfully advocated for prison reform, those unfamiliar with Kim’s goals are curious as to why she wants to be a lawyer when she’s one of reality TV’s most famous names.

Below, Hollywood Life has compiled all the details we know so far about Kim’s law career journey.

Did Kim Kardashian Go to Law School?

No, Kim did not go the traditional law school route. She graduated from a law program in May 2025, though, and she previously took an apprenticeship at a San Francisco law firm in 2018.

Does Kim Kardashian Go to College?

Kim briefly attended Pierce College in Los Angeles, according to multiple outlets, though she does not have a bachelor’s degree.

Why Does Kim Kardashian Want to Be a Lawyer? Her Inspiration

Kim is pursuing a law career because of her late father, Robert Kardashian Sr., who inspired the Kardashians star to follow in his footsteps. Kim is also a passionate advocate for prison reform and in helping incarcerated individuals.

During an April 2020 interview with Vanity Fair, Kim said she believes her dad “would love” to see his daughter continuing her legal studies.

“We have had the conversation, though, about going to law school,” Kim revealed. “Him and I, when I was in college and I was trying to think what my major would be, I said, ‘Okay. I could major in political science and really do this’ and then, he was like, ‘Listen. You’ve seen the hard work that it takes. I don’t doubt that you can do this, but it’s a really stressful life to be an attorney. Do you really want to be an attorney?’”

Kim continued, “And then I ended up majoring in communications instead. We talked about it a lot because he always saw me snooping in his stuff and looking through all of his evidence books. In the summertime, when all my friends were hanging out, and he was like, ‘Go have fun. You can always do this later.”

Kim Kardashian announced that she failed the California bar exam:

How Many Times Has Kim K Taken the Bar Exam?

Kim has taken the California State Bar Exam once. She completed it in July 2025 and shared her results that November in an Instagram Stories message.

“Well…I’m not a lawyer yet, I just play a very well-dressed one on TV,” Kim announced, referring to her Hulu series All’s Fair. “Six years into this law journey, and I’m still all in until I pass the bar. No shortcuts, no giving up – just more studying and even more determination.”

Kim thanked her inner circle and fans for their support and vowed to keep her head up. “[Falling] short isn’t failure – it’s fuel,” she added. “I was so close to passing the exam, and that only motivated me even more. Let’s go!”

What’s the Difference Between the Bar Exam & the ‘Baby Bar’ Exam?

The baby bar exam is a one-day test that consists of multiple-choice questions and four essay questions. The state bar exam is a two-day assessment that’s administered every February and July. It consists of 200 multiple-choice questions, five one-hour essays and one 90-minute performance test question.
