Nkwo Lagos Spring 2026 Collection

by jummy84 November 4, 2025
written by jummy84

After a much needed two-year break, Nkwo Onwuka returned to the Lagos schedule. Whether it’s producing large collections multiple times a year or traveling hundreds of miles around Nigeria searching for raw materials, the fashion cycle is demanding. Onwuka’s presence on the calendar confirms that slow fashion does have a place in the industry.

Her new collection is a nostalgic one, drawing inspiration from her time at school in Nigeria. “For me, it was really about rekindling that feeling of wanting to be home, wanting to be around the things I grew up with,” she said. As she described it, this collection was “like an African Hogwarts.” At times it felt studious and refined, but as it progressed, looks became more wizardly and eccentric, with models wearing red and cream striped tops and bottoms, with brown berets.

Onwuka believes there are too many conversations around sustainability, and not enough being done on a systemic level to elicit change. Her signature Dakala print, a cloth made using a technique invented by Onwuka to recycle textile waste, featured heavily. Each item was made using upcycled material—Onwuka even recycled old bedding from a hotel in Abuja, which she used to create the white pieces in the lineup. Women from her social innovation project Nkwo Transform Initiative wove some pieces in the collection by hand.

8 Best Liquid Highlighters We Tested 2025, Makeup Artist-Approved

by jummy84 November 4, 2025
written by jummy84

Our tester says: “I was really impressed with this drugstore formula. It’s super pigmented—literally one tap of product on each cheek is enough—and stays put for hours. I like that it’s under $10. It’s lasted me over four months and performs just as well as as other higher-priced highlighters in my collection,” says Kilkeary.

Best for Deep Skin Tones: Iconic London Illuminator

Iconic London Illuminator Liquid Highlight

A cult-favorite among both celebrities and makeup artists, this best-selling liquid highlighter is incredibly versatile—apply it on bare skin for a gentle sheen, or mix it into your foundation, moisturizer, or primer anytime you want a customizable, glossy finish.

Our tester says: “This Iconic London highlighter is perfect if you’re looking for a dewy, glowy look. I tend to prefer a matte finish with my makeup, so I set it with a highlighter and it still gave me a natural glow without taking the pigment away. It lasted all day and blended well with my other liquid-based products. It’s perfect for a natural, light makeup look,” says Glamour senior social media manager Jazmin Gathers.

Best for Mature Skin: Tarte Glow Tape Highlighter

Makeup artists tell us liquid highlighters are especially flattering on mature skin, since they can blur the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. This pigmented formula does exactly that with shea butter to create a silky, even-textured, fresh finish.

Our tester says: “Tarte highlighter’s applicator is supercool. The pen-like makeup has a sponge on top, and when you click the top to the left the highlighter appears on the sponge. When I put about three dots on my cheeks, it’s more than enough product, and it can actually double as a blusher—the Rose Glow shade is perfect for my fair complexion, and I found I didn’t need to also use blush. It’s the perfect step in my two-minute makeup routine, when I just need to run out the door super fast. And since it’s in a convenient portable applicator, I can also throw it in my bag to use later in the day when I need to refresh my look. The texture is just creamy enough to moisturize my skin and yet stay on my cheeks. I used it on my cheeks, chin, on top of my brow bones, and the tip of my nose to give a sun kissed-gleam that wasn’t sparkly, just a perfect shine,” says Glamour copy manager Charlotte Twine.

Best Highlighter and Bronzer: Live Tinted Hueglow Liquid Highlighter Drops

For a lit-from-within glow that comes before foundation, try these multi-use highlighter drops that blend seamlessly into moisturizer. They have a blend of squalane, sunflower seed oil, and hyaluronic acid to smooth dry, flaky patches and improve skin texture overall. And if you want a little extra shimmer, they layer beautifully on top of makeup too (without causing it to pill or separate).

The Secret Ingredient Your Skincare Routine is Missing

The Secret Ingredient Your Skincare Routine is Missing

by jummy84 November 4, 2025
written by jummy84

If you’ve ever struggled with acne, you know it can feel like an undertaking trying to find the right ingredients for your skin—especially if it’s also extremely sensitive. To be perfectly honest, it took me years (and connecting with the right aesthetician) to figure out what ingredients worked for my sensitive, breakout-prone skin, but once I found the right routine, my whole life changed.

For a long time, I struggled after tretinoin seriously damaged my skin barrier. My skin became extra dehydrated, red, and prone to acne after that, and I found it frustrating trying to find ingredients that didn’t make it worse. The ingredient that really turned things around for me, though, was beta-glucan. While you may have seen this ingredient pop up in a formula or two in your routine, I still feel that it doesn’t get the spotlight that it deserves. It’s truly fantastic for dehydrated, damaged, acne-prone, and barrier-damaged skin because it’s known for its skin-healing properties.

My aesthetician Sonia Vargas is a huge fan of it and told me it was worth adding to my lineup because it accelerates wound healing and tissue repair. It sounded like exactly what I needed at the time. My skin has taken a huge turn for the positive since I started using it regularly four months ago. For everything you need to know about why this powerhouse ingredient should be on your shelf, straight from the experts, keep on reading.

What is Beta-Glucan?

Vargas explained that beta-glucan is a polysaccharide (made up of sugar molecules) derived from sources like oats, yeast, and fungi. “[They] benefit all skin types,” she says. “It’s good for all skin because it provides deep hydration, strengthens the skin’s moisture barrier, and has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and wound-healing properties. This combination makes it excellent for soothing irritation and protecting the skin from environmental damage.”

Keep in mind, beta-glucan may not be the best ingredient for you if you deal with fungal acne, but if your breakouts are not fungal, it can be an amazing assistant when you’re in the process of clearing up your skin. Although it’s helpful for breakouts, it’s also generally great for skin that’s dry or dehydrated because provides moisture without being overly heavy on the skin.

Why Should You Add Beta-Glucan to Your Routine?

Plastic surgeon and founder of Asian Pacific Plastic Surgery Shim Ching, MD confirms that beta-glucan is a superhero when it comes to traumatized skin. “Most of the research around beta-glucans have been around how they help heal damaged skin,” he says. “We’re theorizing that they can help other skin problems by reducing inflammation, hydrating the skin, repairing the skin barrier and boosting the skin’s immune system.” Ching is referring to the fact that beta-glucan is known to stimulate the Langerhans cells—the immune cells within the skin’s epidermis layer. This initiates its immune and reparative functions.

Not only that, beta-glucan is really helpful for treating traumatized skin (like tretinoin damage), abrasions, damage, burns, oxidative stress, premature aging, acne, inflammation, and even calming rosacea. Basically, it does it all and everyone could benefit from adding it to their routine. Ching also suggests taking beta-glucan as a dietary supplement to get the full list of benefits. Beta-glucans can be found in oats, barley, wheat, rye, and certain mushrooms like shitake, maitake, and reishi.

If you struggle with breakouts, though, Vargas says it’s especially key. “Beta-glucan is an essential ingredient for acne-prone skin because it targets multiple issues that contribute to breakouts, including inflammation, a compromised skin barrier, and impaired healing,” she explains. “Traditional acne treatments can be harsh—beta-glucan is gentle and non-irritating, making it a safe choice for inflamed and impaired skin.”

Vargas knew beta-glucan would be perfect for my skin because I struggled with all of the above. It was tough to find ingredients that would clear my breakouts without causing more irritation and barrier damage. What truly helped was stopping all retinoids, exfoliating less, and giving my skin the time it needed to reset and heal. Adding DMK’s signature Beta Gel formula on top of that was the key to my success. Vargas recommended it to me and I haven’t looked back since.

The Best Products With Beta-Glucan

Beta Gel

Vargas recommended I try DMK’s signature beta gel formula because it’s designed to address reactive, chronically irritated, or traumatized skin. After I started using this, my skin totally changed. It wasn’t as red, reactive, or sensitive, and I was breaking out a lot less. I couldn’t believe the difference after just a few short months. It really goes to show that a skin reset is necessary sometimes—a.k.a., stopping all strong actives for a period of time (exfoliants and retinoids). DMK is an incredible brand (truly one of my all time favorites on the market), but it’s only available through an aesthetician. If you’re in the L.A. area, Vargas is amazing to chat with or you can go for celebrity facialist Candace Marino who is also a favorite and DMK therapist in the area. DMK also has a handy tool on their website to help you locate a practitioner near you.

This newer offering from Allies of Skin is a spendier option, but it’s totally worth the extra money. Barbara Tfank Spring 2026 Ready-to-Wear Collection

by jummy84 November 4, 2025
written by jummy84

“Life is getting more casual. Let’s face it,” proclaimed Barbara Tfank during a recent video call to discuss her spring 2026 collection. It’s a new reality for the bridalwear designer, who is sought after for one-of-a-kind evening looks. Unlike her past collections, which had a more old-school formal feel, this season her models wore simple Manolo Blahnik flip-flop heels that more accurately reflect the way young women are dressing these days. She also embraced more cotton fabrications in an effort to make her offerings as suitable for daytime as they are for nighttime; including a matching cotton cropped top and skirt set. The designer explained she could imagine young women wearing it to work with a cardigan draped on top, and straight to a party afterwards. To further emphasize the skirt’s part-ready feel, she lined it with a crinoline to help maintain its shape and structure.

Tfank is a designer who cares about sustainability. She utilized deadstock fabrics and materials from previous collections she found in her atelier to create fun and flirty mini-dresses ready-made for now.

Mark Hunter/Bravo

Natalie Maguire has been SUR’s lead bartender for two years and is ready to level up to bar manager, but Lisa may not be on the same page after her recent outburst. Closest in the group to Venus, the two started at SUR on the same day and have been inseparable ever since. Outside of SUR, Natalie is pursuing her pop music career with full force but still makes time for men, making her love life a major source of friction within the group.

Don’t Knock Skinny Pants: Elsa Hosk Made Them Look Modern

by jummy84 November 4, 2025

Now that baggy pants reign supreme, skinnies can get cast to the wayside. They might not be the most popular style out there, but that doesn’t mean you should banish them from your closet altogether. Au contraire! As Elsa Hosk just proved, extra-slim pants can look thoroughly modern.

While Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton prefer to style skinnies with riding boots, Hosk decided to take a fancier approach. In a new mirror selfie, she wore ACNE Studios Checked Wool-Blend Slim Pants ($700) with a Helsa jacket, pointy-toe pumps, and a bucket bag. Without fail, plaid comes roaring back into style every fall, so it’s never a bad idea to invest in the classic pattern. As for what to wear on top, consider copying Hosk and choosing a classic barn jacket. Scroll down to see her new outfit and shop similar pieces.
