Does Kevin Jonas Sing? Why He Waited This Long to Perform a Solo – Hollywood Life

Kevin Jonas (real name: Paul Kevin Jonas II) has always been the Jonas Brothers’ humble and fan-favorite guitarist, girl dad and eldest brother of the band, which also consists of Joe Jonas and Nick Jonas. Since the beginning of their career, Kevin has provided backup vocals for his brothers, but he never sang a solo live on stage — until now. During an August 23, 2025, Jonas20: Greetings From Your Hometown Tour show at Boston’s Fenway Park, Kevin proved that he can definitely sing. So, why has he held back for so long?

Hollywood Life has gathered all the info we know about Kevin’s vocal abilities and his recent solo below.

Can Kevin Jonas Sing?

Yes! For years, fans have been saying that Kevin could sing even though they hadn’t actually heard him belt out a few notes by himself on a stage.

The “Lovebug” artist proved his skills when he modestly walked downstage to take the microphone. Years prior, Kevin showed off his voice in the song “Scandinavia” for his and his brothers’ Disney Channel series, JONAS.

Why Doesn’t Kevin Jonas Sing Solo More Often?

During the brothers’ August 23, 2025, Boston concert, Kevin confirmed the reason why he hadn’t sung live before — because it made him “nervous.” After Nick stepped away to let Kevin take the microphone, the older brother said, “I’m super nervous, so bear with me,” then he showed off his vocal range while singing “Changing.”

Did Kevin Jonas Ever Sing Solo Before 2025?

Kevin hadn’t sung live at a concert before the August 2025 Boston show during the Jonas20: Greetings From Your Hometown Tour. As loyal fans already know, he sings backup vocals while Nick and Joe usually take the lead.

Could Kevin Jonas Release a Solo Album?

Kevin has not confirmed a solo album separate from the Jonas Brothers, but fans are calling for one. It wouldn’t a stretch for the “Sucker” guitarist to create and release his own since both Nick and Joe have explored different music styles in the past — with Joe collaborating with DNCE and Nick flying solo after the Jonas Brothers went on hiatus.

Are these the AI music industry jobs of the future? – National

by jummy84 August 24, 2025
written by jummy84

When the internet first came along, many businesses thought it was a fad, and websites could be built and maintained on a part-time basis by some geeky kid already on staff. However, as the years passed, it became evident that the internet was here to stay and that to compete in the new world, companies needed a dedicated webmaster. Or two. Or three. Or more.

A similar phenomenon later occurred with social media. Facebook? What’s that? Twitter? Never heard of it. But as social media platforms gained traction, businesses realized that they needed a social media manager, complete with supporting staff.

Today’s paradigm-shifting technology is artificial intelligence, something that’s iterating and becoming more powerful practically on an hourly basis. Companies are now investing heavily in AI, and not just in people who can write a good prompt. AI departments are sprouting up everywhere. This tech is in the process of changing everything.

Last week’s column focused on the things I miss about the old (i.e., pre-2000) music industry. Now let’s give some equal time to the future.

After a rough decade of trying to adapt to the realities of the digital world in the 21st century, the music industry is evolving at an accelerating rate, embracing new AI technologies and practices. This includes the creation (or potential creation) of jobs that didn’t exist even five years ago. Let’s speculate wildly, shall we?

Record producers and songwriters will morph into ‘music designers’

When synths went mainstream in the late ’70s and early ’80s, synth players were decried as not being “real musicians,” people whose talent was getting machines to do something. Who needed any formal musical training to create songs? The British Musicians’ Union even called for the U.K. government to ban synthesizers because they were taking jobs away from working musicians who spent years on their craft.

That’s nothing compared with what’s happening with AI.

How AI assisted The Beatles and the impact it has on the music industry

Oh, you write your own songs, do you? And when you go into a studio to record them, you pay for a producer and engineer, correct? Record labels are looking for ways to get rid of as many unreliable humans as possible. With platforms like Suno capable of generating super-realistic songs, companies are looking for ninjas at that sort of thing.

Story continues below advertisement

Hallwood Media, an indie record company founded by former Geffen Records president Neil Jacobson, announced a deal with Imoliver, a human who “uses the AI-powered platform to develop his lush sonic landscapes.” Yes, his main tool is Suno. A full album will be available in October.

“Imoliver represents the future of our medium,” Hallwood says. “He’s a music designer who stands at the intersection of craftwork and taste. As we share his journey, the world will see the dexterity behind his work and what makes it so special. What he does is exactly why I love music and why we push boundaries at Hallwood.”

Check out what he can do. Is this art or just more sophisticated AI slop?

Does this negate the skills and talent of musicians who have spent decades writing, recording and touring? Your call. But one thing is certain: Sound designers are going to be very much in demand in many areas, including movie/TV scoring, jingle production and creating production libraries. And maybe, just maybe, something even more ambitious.

Virtual star creator

Virtual bands are nothing new. We can go back to at least 1969 when The Archies, a fake cartoon band whose sound came from a bunch of anonymous studio players, had a number one hit with Sugar Sugar. Since then, we’ve seen Prozzak, Gorillaz, Hatsune Miku and about a dozen others, including some AI creations. Most recently, we had the Velvet Sundown, a milquetoast AI band that was hot for about a month.

But the Velvet Sundown is hardly unique. There have been experiments with AI-generated acts like FN Meka (a failure), Yona, the creations of the Auxuman Collective, Polar, K/DA, Anna Indiana and this thing, a product of some pretty clever sound designers who are, in essence, creating brand-new virtual pop stars. This is Germany’s Ben Gaya.

His Instagram profile reads: “Hi there! I’m Ben, an AI Singer with a passion for creating and performing music that touches the soul. Designed with state-of-the-art technology and a deep love for all things musical, I blend the best of human creativity and machine precision to bring you songs that are both heartfelt and innovative.”

Record labels can generate stuff like this without having to deal with musicians and their erratic attempts at creativity. Just eliminate them! AI pop stars are always available, never get drunk, don’t overdose, and don’t get involved in dodgy relationships. Perfect!

I’ve seen some newer AI music programs that are so good and so quick — I’m talking about creating an artist, name, persona and song, complete with generative lyrics, in less than 60 seconds — that this transition will inevitably spread.

Here’s what I’m talking about. Notice how long the process takes.

This is also disturbing Emily Portman released a new album–except that she didn’t. It was all an AI fake.

AI voice agent

I do a lot of voiceover work for radio, TV, commercials and educational material, but I see the writing on the wall. Why hire me for these projects when clients can order producers to use AI-generated voices? It’s possible that it’s already happening: There are rumours in the industry that some producers are currently illegally cloning the voices of well-known people and using them for certain projects, stealing the sound of a person’s unique voice and turning it into profit.

Story continues below advertisement

What we need are more AI voice agents, people who license the voice of voiceover talent for jobs where a live human isn’t readily available. For example, if someone wanted me to narrate a long, boring corporate video and I don’t have time in my schedule for a session, an AI voice agent would broker a deal where my personal sound is cloned. Granted, there would have to be a lot of restrictions, guarantees and penalties put in place, but it could turn out to be a source of passive income. Or I could be squeezed out of the business entirely by bigger, better-known voiceover talent. I guess we’ll see, huh?

Hologram experts

This job already exists, as evidenced by the number of avatar/hologram productions already out there. Today, holograms are substituting for dead performers (Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison, Ronnie James Dio, Whitney Houston), with more on the way. As more superstars die, their estates and the holders of rights to their songs are going to want these artists to live on and keep producing. And with actuarial tables telling us that we’re soon going to lose many, many artists that we’ve grown up with, the demand for hologram ninjas is going to go up and up.

And consider this historical precedent. In the mid-’60s, the Beatles decided that they were going to become a full-time studio band. No more live performances. This greatly annoyed both their record company (which relied on tours to promote records) and media outlets (who would no longer benefit from a Beatles appearance). The compromise was for the band to shoot short films of them performing or doing fun, surreal things. These were the earliest days of the music video.

Story continues below advertisement

Today, ABBA (whose members are all still alive) has reaped hundreds of millions of dollars from their ABBA Voyage show in London. They get all the revenues and benefits of touring without leaving the house. How long will it be before another still-living artist goes down this route? Who needs the hassle of touring at age 75 when you can just spend a few days in a motion-capture suit to create a production featuring all your greatest hits? All they’ll have to do is cash the cheques.

These are just four examples of what we can expect to see in the future. Probably tomorrow, even. Get ready.

Malcolm McDowell doesn’t watch his daughter-in-law Lily Collins in Emily in Paris.

Malcolm McDowell doesn’t watch Lily Collins in Emily in Paris

The 82-year-old actor’s son Charlie McDowell is married to Lily but he confessed that he has no interest in watching her in the Netflix series.

Malcolm told People: “To be honest with you, it’s not my kind of thing, and Lily knows that.

“But I’m the biggest fan of my daughter-in-law. I think she’s absolutely one of the great actresses.”

The A Clockwork Orange star hailed the “beautiful aura” that Lily, who is the daughter of musician Phil Collins, possesses which makes her standout on the screen.

He said: “She has such a beautiful quality.

“As far as I’m concerned, when she’s on the screen, there’s nobody else on it, because she’s not only a good actress, but she has a beautiful quality. I suppose, it’s a sort of charisma.”

Even though he doesn’t watch Emily in Paris, Malcolm believes that the French capital owes “a great debt” to Lily, 36, for the tourism she has brought in thanks to the series.

He said: “I’m sure (it) has gone up so much from people in the United States watching and going, ‘Yeah, let’s go to Paris.'”

It isn’t the first time that Malcolm has waxed lyrical about his daughter-in-law as he suggested last year that Lily has similar qualities to Breakfast at Tiffany’s icon Audrey Hepburn.

He said: “Lily is absolutely a star. I’m in awe of her work. I think she’s one of the best young actresses around.

“I love watching her — she’s got that Audrey Hepburn kind of thing going, which is indefinable in a way, but it’s there.”

McDowell added: “There’s a sort of light that shines behind the eyes somehow. She’s really fantastic. And she’s just like that, by the way — when you meet her, she’s what you meet and what you see is what you get. She’s delightful.”

Malcolm also explained that he doesn’t see his son and daughter-in-law as regularly as he would like because he lives in the US while they are based in Europe.

He said: “They’re both wonderful people. I don’t see enough of them. They live in Europe a lot of the time, so I don’t really see them that much, but when I see them, it’s always great to just hang.”

bitchy | Duchess Meghan promises that WLM’s Season 2 will be ‘all that and a bag of chips’

by jummy84 August 24, 2025
written by jummy84

Yesterday, the Duchess of Sussex posted this ^ on her IG Stories. A video where she’s frying potato chips. She reminded everyone that With Love, Meghan’s Season 2 comes out on August 26, and “Dare I say, ‘It’s all that….and a bag of chips.’” Incredibly dorky. This is the same woman who jokingly said that Trooping the Colour was “colorful,” much to the chagrin of a certain prisspot. Anyway, I guess younger people have never heard “all that and a bag of chips,” so People Magazine did an explainer for the expression. We literally said it all the time in the ‘90s. I think I’ve said it recently too. Meanwhile, the Daily Mail proved yet again that there’s literally nothing that Meghan can do, say, wear or post which they won’t cry about. Here’s part of the Mail’s story devoted to “all that and a bag of chips.”

The Duchess of Sussex has faced backlash after sharing an update regarding the second series of her Netflix show. Taking to Instagram yesterday, Montecito-based Meghan Markle, 44, shared an image of some crisps frying in a pan with the caption, ‘New season of With Love, Meghan August 26 on @netflix.

The mother-of-two added, ‘Dare I say, ‘It’s all that… and a bag of chips’.’ The ’90s quote, which means something is cool, is associated with Will Smith, who delivered the line in an episode of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

However, following the post, some users took to X to comment on the appearance of the crisps, despite them still cooking.

One questioned, ‘Those are chips? Would never have guessed.’ A second said, ‘This isn’t new, exciting or inventive. I tried making chips with my kids 30 years ago.’

A third user added, ‘Beige. Not even healthy enough to be beige actually. Not appetising.’

Another wrote, ‘Ok I get it they’re still being cooked and not yet browned, but potato chips? I think we ALL can make potato chips. Is this & pasta the extent of her cooking skills? Thus far I’ve seen nothing she’s made that I’d want to try.’

[From The Daily Mail]

LMAO. “THIS ISN’T NEW!” “WE CAN ALL DO THIS!” People just seethe over every little f–king thing when it comes to Meghan. Why is she wearing clothes, WE CAN ALL WEAR CLOTHES! Why is she breathing, that’s nothing new! I can’t believe she’s copying Kate by wearing something Kate will wear in six months! Kate eats potato chips too!!

Incidentally, the same people complaining about Meghan’s potato chips are also trying to say it’s weird or unhygienic for Meghan to cook with her rings on and with her hair down. She’s not working in a commercial bakery, people. She’s a home cook, and all of these videos and photos on her Instagram are from her kitchen at home.

Homemade chips have the best flavor and taste! 🍠
Looking forward to #WithLoveMeghan on August 26th!

US Moves To Deport Him After Release

by jummy84 August 24, 2025
written by jummy84

After months of being caught in a legal nightmare, Kilmar Abrego Garcia is finally free. The 33-year-old walked out of federal custody on Friday, following a shocking chain of events that started with a wrongful deportation and ended in international outrage. But is this nightmare really over for him?

RELATED: Whew! The White House Comes Under Fire For Using Viral “Jet2 Holiday” Jingle In ICE Deportation Clip (VIDEO)

Kilmar Abrego Garcia Speaks Out Amid Release

U.S. Magistrate Judge Barbara Holmes ordered his release from a Nashville-area jail, where he had been held since June after returning from one of El Salvador’s harshest prisons. Abrego’s legal team says the government wrongly labeled him a gang member—locking him up overseas. Additionally, his team claims the government stripped him of his rights for challenging immigration policies in court. “Unlawfully arrested, deported, and imprisoned,” his attorney, Sean Hecker, said, calling it a “vindictive attack” fueled by a broken system.

Now, Kilmar has just 48 hours to make it to his brother’s home in Maryland, where he’ll live under court-ordered conditions while checking in with ICE officials in Baltimore. In a statement released on Friday, Abrego shared:

“Today has been a very special day because I have seen my family for the first time in more than 160 days. I’d like to thank all the people who have supported me because after this long time I have witnessed that so many people have been by my side with such positivity. Today I am grateful to God because He has heard me and today I am out. We are steps closer to justice, but justice has not been fully served.”

Is ICE Trying To Deport Him AGAIN?

Kilmar’s not taking this lying down. He’s pleaded not guilty and is fighting back hard. He’s asking the judge to toss the whole case out—saying it’s nothing but retaliation for him standing up against that wrongful deportation to El Salvador. In a new filing over the weekend, his team doubled down, pointing to the recent threat of deporting him to Uganda as more proof that the prosecution is playing dirty and being vindictive.

“Despite having requested and received assurances from the government of Costa Rica that Mr. Abrego would be accepted there, within minutes of his release from pretrial custody, an ICE representative informed Mr. Abrego’s counsel that the government intended to deport Mr. Abrego to Uganda and ordered him to report to ICE’s Baltimore Field Office Monday morning,” the brief reports.

Who Is Kilmar Abrego Garcia?

For context, the backstory on Kilmar Abrego Garcia is just as wild as the headlines. Back in March, he was snatched from his Maryland home and deported to El Salvador—even though a 2019 court order explicitly blocked his removal. Furthermore, ICE agents allegedly claimed his immigration status had “changed.” However, before anyone could make sense of it, Kilmar was gone—accused of being tied to the MS-13 gang, which is now labeled a foreign terrorist organization.

The kicker? He reportedly had an active immigration case pending when they booted him. The move sparked nationwide outrage, with many calling it a blatant violation of his rights. Now that he’s free, the spotlight is back on how this all happened in the first place.

Lorne Michaels would’ve asked Sinead O’Connor to appear on Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary special

24 August 2025

Lorne Michaels would’ve invited Sinead O’Connor to perform on Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary special had she still been alive.

Lorne Michaels would’ve had Sinead O’Connor perform for the 50th anniversary of Saturday Night Live

The Nothing Compares 2 U singer, who passed away aged 56 in 2023, infamously ripped up a photograph of Pope John Paul II during her performance on the show in 1992 but the SNL creator would’ve asked her back for the anniversary celebration earlier this year – which featured Miley Cyrus and Brittany Howard performing a rendition of O’Connor’s chart-topping cover of Prince’s song.

Lorne told Puck: “If (O’Connor) was still alive, I would have asked her to sing that song. But it was represented by Miley singing it with so much power.”

Sinead never appeared on Saturday Night Live again following the controversial stunt and Michaels had previously described her actions as “inappropriate”.

The 80-year-old star told Spin magazine in 1993: “I thought it was sort of the wrong place for it, I thought her behaviour was inappropriate.

“Because it was difficult to do two comedy sketches after it, and also it was dishonest because she didn’t tell us she was going to do it.

“We were sort of shocked, the way you would be shocked at a houseguest p****** on a flower arrangement in the dining room.”

However, he appeared to have had a change of heart on the incident when interviewed in the documentary Ladies and Gentleman… 50 Years of SNL Music earlier this year.

He said: “There was a part of me that just admired the bravery of what she’d done, and also the absolute sincerity of it.”

It was rumoured that O’Connor was banned from Saturday Night Live after ripping up the photo of the late Pope but Michaels revealed that this wasn’t the case.

He said in the documentary: “I’ll read it sometimes in the [New York] Post, ‘So and so’s banned for life’.

“We’ve never banned anyone. We’re way too crass and opportunistic. If something’s hot, we’re going to go for it and have it on.”

Michaels had previously suggested that the 50th anniversary would be a good time to step away from Saturday Night Live but has since vowed to stay put on the comedy show.

He told The Hollywood Reporter: “People have decided somehow that [SNL is] important. And so as long as it’s important and I can be useful, I’ll stay.”

As she put it on Instagram, “Wild how some folks still lie like it’s 1985 before texts and email were a thing.”

E! News has reached out to reps for Michaels and Harper, as well as Netflix and NBC, for comment and while they haven’t responded, other past contestants have been happy to speak on their experiences with Michaels.

For season six victor Michelle Aguilar, the Keeping It Real podcaster “wasn’t just my trainer,” she wrote in an Aug. 19 Instagram post. “She was my motivator, my guide and sometimes the tough love I didn’t know I needed. Jillian has this way of pushing you past what you think is possible and somehow making you believe in yourself at the same time.”

To Aguilar, “She is, without a doubt, the very best!”

And Aguilar isn’t the only past winner to feel she gained far more than she lost. Five years after the series wrapped its 18th and final season we’re doing a check in with all the former champs.

Cracker Barrel Defends Logo Swap + Blames Outrage On ‘Vocal Minority’ & Vows to Offer ‘Fresh Energy’

Cracker Barrel is standing firm amid growing backlash over its new logo and brand revamp, dismissing criticism as coming from a “vocal minority.”

The Tennessee-based chain unveiled a simplified, text-only logo this week, removing the longtime image of an old man seated by a barrel.

The update, part of Cracker Barrel’s “All the More” campaign, also includes a refreshed menu and remodeled restaurants. Chief marketing officer Sarah Moore said the changes are about “bringing fresh energy, thoughtful craftsmanship and heartfelt hospitality to our guests.”

Steak ‘n Shake chimed in, stating, “This is what happens when you have a board that does not respect their historical customers or their brand.”

In response, a Cracker Barrel spokesperson told Fox News Digital, “There may be a vocal minority who feel differently. However, the strong performance of these locations affirms that we are moving in the right direction.”

“The things you love about us will stay,” Moore reassured. “These changes are for [our guests].”

Will you still be eating at Cracker Barrel?
