The D.O.C. Says His Split with Erykah Badu Happened After Dr. Dre Asked Him to Write for an Album
The D.O.C. Says His Split with Erykah Badu Happened After Dr. Dre Asked Him to Write for an Album
The D.O.C. is opening up about the moment his relationship with Erykah Badu came to an end — and how a call from Dr. Dre played a key role in their split.
During an appearance on the Willie D Live podcast, the Dallas-born rapper and songwriter reflected on his breakup with Badu, explaining that it happened after Dre reached out and asked him to help write for an upcoming project. The former couple, who share a daughter, Puma Curry, now 21, had been together for about four years in the early 2000s.
The D.O.C., known for his classic track “It’s Funky Enough,” said he had returned to Dallas following a “huge blowout” with Dre and was still working through how to “write a happy ending” to his story after his career-altering car accident in 1989. Around the time their daughter was four, Dre called him to collaborate. “Erykah and I had been together for three, four years. She cleaned me up. No more drugs and alcohol. You know, I’m a father now,” he said. “I still had a desire to be somebody. And I hadn’t figured out how to create art again yet. So, when Dre called, that feeling came back — and I wanted to go. She didn’t want me to go. She thought it was a bad decision.” Badu warned him that returning to Los Angeles would land him “in the same hole” as before. “But she said, you know, if you going to go, then just go,” he recalled, admitting that despite his belief that things would be different, “she was right.”
The D.O.C. added that he doesn’t believe Badu felt “betrayed” when he left because he had “given so much” to their family during their time together. He acknowledged, however, that both knew his departure would mark the end of their romantic relationship. “We both knew when I left that we weren’t going to be able to come back to what it was. And we acknowledged that and just moved forward.” Badu — who also shares son Seven Sirius Benjamin, 27, with André 3000, and daughter Mars, 16, with Jay Electronica — continues to maintain a close friendship with The D.O.C., much like she does with her other children’s fathers.
bitchy | Telegraph: Prince Harry was a half-in royal in Toronto, ‘albeit via the backdoor’
Last night, Prince Harry attended the True Patriot Love Foundation’s National Tribute Dinner in Canada. It was the culmination of a whirlwind 48-hour “tour” of Toronto, which saw Harry meeting veterans and active servicemen and women, checking out various military operations and generally being charismatic and cool. Harry was invited to the National Tribute Dinner and he was the de facto keynote speaker as well. True Patriot Love Foundation is a major partner of the Invictus Games, and that’s why they invited Harry and that’s why he came to their events. You can read more about the dinner here at Sussex.com.
Throughout Harry’s Toronto visit, there has been limited press availability (really just a couple of local outlets) and no paparazzi photos and no credentialed international media covering these events. The only reason we have any photos at all is because a photographer attached with True Patriot Love has been trailing Harry at his events, and the photos have been published on Sussex.com. That limited media availability has allowed Harry to keep a lighter footprint in Toronto and focus solely on what he came into town to do. Somewhat hilariously though, Harry has gotten a lot of attention during what was supposed to be his brother’s big week in Brazil. Well, now it’s time for the British media to run the same old play: Harry’s Toronto trip is a signal that he wants to be a working royal again! These people are dumb as a box of hair. From the Telegraph’s big article, written after the Other Brother made a big keen speech at COP30.
A backdoor half-in arrangement: When the Duke of Sussex left the UK to pursue an independent life abroad, he was told in no uncertain terms that he could not adopt the “half in, half out” approach to royal life he had demanded. There was no way that he and Meghan could promote their charitable endeavours on behalf of the institution while at the same time pursuing their own commercial interests, Buckingham Palace made clear. Almost six years on, it looks very much as if the couple are doing something very similar, albeit via the backdoor.
A statement of intent! The Duke’s two-day visit to Toronto has been described by some as something of a marker in the sand, a statement of intent. This was the “grown-up statesman-like Harry” pitching his stall, proving his value and demonstrating where his life was headed, one friend told The Telegraph. And having finally had enough of the tell-all interviews and intimate memoirs, that life looks not unlike the kind he might have been pursuing had he stayed in the UK. Is the visit, therefore, a subtle pitch to his father: “See how useful I could be?” Harry’s support for the military community has never been in doubt. But whether this was a trip based solely on his passion for the Canadian armed forces is a matter for debate. Could it be that it was also intended to act as a subtle nod to the personal support he wants to show Canada, a key Commonwealth country?
Harry & Meghan are pursuing different interests! When Harry and Meghan moved to the US, they made a virtue of being joined at the hip – who can forget the entwined palm trees, salt and pepper analogies? Now though, as Meghan pursues her dream of becoming a billionaire, her husband is reverting to a rather more familiar way of life. All he wants to do, those close to him insist, is to support his pet causes.
Harry will continue to work this way: He may have been banned from pursuing his charitable endeavours on behalf of the Royal family but Harry has seemingly decided that he will plough on regardless. Quasi-royal visits and trips like his visit to the UK in September, and Toronto this week, are likely to become much more common. Meanwhile, in an effort to burnish his philanthropic credentials, he continues to dish out money. When he was in the UK, the Duke announced a personal £1.1m donation to Children in Need to help tackle youth violence in Nottingham. This week, he is understood to have made a six-figure donation to Jamaica after Hurricane Melissa wreaked havoc across the Caribbean. As he looks to the future, Harry is also understood to be mulling over the possibility of launching his own not-for-profit social enterprise.
The left-behinds are looking sparse: Meanwhile, on this side of the pond, the number of working members of the Royal family has been further depleted with Andrew’s defenestration. Would the King ever bring Harry off the subs bench? Not a chance. And King William even less so. The Sussexes, though, look set to plough on undeterred with their own version of that “half in, half out” model.
First of all, this isn’t about Harry “pitching” a half-in solution to his father. These people said the same thing about the Sussexes’ trips to Nigeria and Colombia last year, alongside the palace-issued talking points of “why are the Sussexes doing charity work and traveling on behalf of their charities in the first place, if not to be royal?!?!” At some point, these royal reporters are going to need to sit down and have the conversation that “charity work” does not equal “royal work.” When the short-sighted Windsors rejected the “half-in” suggestion, they believed that they were banning Harry and Meghan from doing anything resembling charity work, which is frankly a stupid assumption but indicative of the rot within the monarchy. What the Sussexes are doing is altogether funnier and more interesting – they’re showing that they don’t need the stagnant royal establishment or the British media to do their own charity work AND commercial work.

Y’all… school drama just hit different. Abby Zwerner, the teacher shot by a 6-year-old student at Richneck Elementary in 2023, just scored a $10 million civil win against ex-assistant principal Ebony Parker. And now, all eyes are on Parker’s upcoming criminal trial.

Zwerner’s Pain Earns $10M Jury Award
In January 2023, Abby Zwerner was shot while teaching at Richneck Elementary School in Newport News, Virginia. In her civil suit, she accused then-assistant principal Ebony Parker of ignoring multiple warnings. She allegedly ignored that the student had a firearm and failed to allow staff to search him before the shooting.
During the trial, Zwerner detailed how the bullet wounds to her chest and hand continue to impact her daily life. The jury clearly responded to her testimony, awarding her a substantial payout. Though it was only a portion of the $40 million she initially sought. Legal experts noted that the civil verdict won’t automatically be admitted in Parker’s upcoming criminal trial. However, it could give prosecutors added leverage as Parker faces eight felony counts of child neglect later this month.
Civil Win Could Influence Parker’s Upcoming Criminal Trial
The criminal trial, set to start on November 17, will focus on whether Parker ignored clear warnings that the child had a gun at school. Experts say prosecutors have a higher bar to clear — proving guilt “beyond a reasonable doubt” — but Zwerner’s civil win may push Parker toward plea negotiations, especially given the significant prison time she could face if convicted. Observers say this unusual sequencing — civil trial before criminal — gives both sides a preview of the arguments and evidence likely to pop up in court.
Strong Reactions As Zwerner’s Civil Verdict Shakes Schools
Reactions outside the courthouse were strong, with Zwerner’s lawyers stressing the importance of school safety. “I think (the verdict) says that what happened at Richneck Elementary School that day was wrong and is not going to be tolerated,” Diane Toscano said. Parker’s team is expected to appeal the verdict. Still, with the civil jury siding with Zwerner, the legal battle is far from over. And the upcoming criminal trial is now one of the most closely watched cases on school safety and accountability in the country. To note, Deja Taylor, the mother of the child in this case, is even serving time behind bars for her son’s actions.

Prince George made a surprise appearance at the Festival of Remembrance on Saturday (08.11.25).
Prince George and Catherine, Princess of Wales as the Festival of Remembrance
The 12-year-old royal attended the service at London’s Royal Albert Hall for the first time this weekend, joining his mother Catherine, Princess of Wales, and King Charles and Queen Camilla in the royal box.
The audience at the venue stood as the family entered to the sound of a trumpeters’ fanfare and took their seats, with George, wearing a black suit with a poppy pin, sitting next to his mother.
Catherine wore an Alessandra Rich black dress with a white collar, paired with an HMS Glasgow Brooch and earrings which previously belonged to the late Queen Elizabeth, as well as a handmade poppy created out of silk, glass and other natural materials by Izzy Ager of Lock and Co.
The festival, which marked the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II and the 25th anniversary of the lifting of a ban preventing gay, lesbian and bisexual military personnel from serving openly, was hosted by Ted Lasso actress Hannah Waddingham.
The royals got to enjoy performances from Sir Rod Stewart with the RAF Squadronaires, the Massed Bands of His Majesty’s Royal Marines, the Household Division and the RAF.
In between the music were tributes to the fallen and reflections from veterans, as well as a focus on military children who have lost parents.
George was last seen in public at the Wimbledon men’s final in July, alongside his mother, father Prince William and 10-year-old sister Princess Charlotte.
In May, he met with World War II veterans at Buckingham palace and has previously attended the VE Day 80 procession with his family.
On Sunday (09.11.25), the king and Prince William – who was in Brazil last week for his Earthshot Prize ceremony – will lay a wreath at the Cenotaph during the annual Remembrance Day Service, with Camilla and Catherine expected to watch the ceremony from a balcony overlooking the monument.
Charles’ sister, Princess Anne, is currently on an official visit to Australia and Singapore, and will lay a wreath at the Anzac Memorial after attending a service in Sydney.
Kylie Jenner has a new furry friend.
The Kardashians star shared a series of videos featuring an adorable white kitten on social media, days after announcing the death of her beloved dog Norman.
In one video posted on her Instagram Stories Nov. 7, Kylie, 28, showed the cat meowing as it walked around her home. She subsequently shared a close-up look at the feline licking its paws while staring into the camera.
While Kylie—who is mom to daughter Stormi Webster, 7, and son Aire Webster, 3, with ex Travis Scott—didn’t share the name of the cute critter or whether it’s officially part of her household, she recently said goodbye to another beloved animal as she marked the loss of her Italian Greyhound.
“I had never loved anything so much,” Kylie shared in a heartfelt Instagram post in October, accompanied by a photo carousel documenting the canine’s life. “I always wanted an Italian Greyhound growing up, but my mommy never let me have one. Then, right after I turned 17, I got you for Christmas, and it was the best gift I could have ever received.”
Mega Millions Jackpot Jumps to $843 Million, 8th Largest in Game History
Mega Millions Jackpot Jumps to $843 Million, 8th Largest in Game History
The Mega Millions grand prize has climbed to an estimated $843 million, making it the eighth-largest jackpot in the game’s history, lottery officials said. The winning numbers will be drawn Friday at 11 p.m. ET.
According to Mega Millions, Friday’s drawing will be the 38th since the jackpot was last hit on June 27 in Virginia. That run marks the longest stretch without a jackpot winner since the game launched in 2002, surpassing the previous record of 37 drawings set on Jan. 22, 2021, when a $1.050 billion prize was won in Michigan.
“While the jackpot remains elusive, the number of winners – and total prizes won – continues to grow,” lottery officials said. They noted that during the current run, there have been nearly 11.7 million winning tickets across all prize levels, with total payouts exceeding $274 million. Officials attributed the higher overall prize amounts to “significant enhancements in the lower-tier prizes” made after the game changed in April. So far, 256 third-tier tickets — worth between $20,000 and $100,000 — have also been sold in this streak. Even though no one matched all six numbers in the most recent drawing on Nov. 4, officials emphasized that players are still winning substantial amounts. “In the Nov. 4 drawing alone, there were 606,046 winning tickets across all prize tiers, for total nationwide winnings of more than $12.2 million,” Mega Millions said.
bitchy | Prince Harry apologized for wearing a Dodgers hat, said he did so ‘under duress’
Last week, one of the biggest royal scandals was, I kid you not, a British prince wearing an LA Dodgers hat whilst seated in the Dodgers owners’ box with his native Angeleno wife. The Duchess of Sussex is a big Dodgers fan, and they scored seats for Game 4 of the World Series, seats which were close to Magic Johnson. Canadians, especially right-wing Canadians, had meltdowns over the King of Canada’s son rooting for the Dodgers versus the Toronto Blue Jays. By the end of Game 7, Harry had been revealed as a secret Blue Jays fan though – he actually looked quite depressed that the Dodgers won the World Series. Still, “hat-gate” was already up and running, to the point where Harry fielded questions about who he really supported in the World Series while he visited Toronto this week.
Please, this is too funny. Harry chuckling over “hat-gate,” his claims of being forced to wear a Dodgers hat “under duress,” and actually apologizing over the Dodgers hat too! He said, “Firstly, I would like to apologize to Canada for wearing it. Secondly, I was under duress. There wasn’t much choice.” He was invited to sit in the owners’ box, you see, and it was “the polite thing to do.” Then he grabs the Blue Jays cap and says, “I’m going to wear this from now on.”
Harry also visited Sunnybrook Veterans Centre, where he spent time with seniors and got involved in some of the creative arts they have at the centre. He is absolutely his mother’s son in those photos – Diana is remembered for being wonderful around children, but she was also wonderful around seniors too. Harry delicately held one woman’s hand and gently kissed her hand as he said goodbye. He listened to those veterans’ stories and chatted about their interests. A complete natural. You can see more of those photos here.
