Priyanka responded by sharing the poster herself, writing, “She’s more than what meets the eye… say hello to Mandakini.” In the poster, she is seen wearing a bright yellow saree, holding a gun pointed at her enemies, embodying a fearless and powerful persona that echoes her previous commanding roles in Bollywood and Hollywood.

Meanwhile, the first look of the film’s antagonist, Kumbha, played by Prithviraj Sukumaran, was also revealed. Prithviraj shared a menacing image of himself sitting on an automated wheelchair, describing his character as “the most complex mind I have ever played.” He wrote on X, “Presenting KUMBHA… Ready for you @urstrulymahesh It’s game on @priyankachopra. Thank you @ssrajamouli sir for crafting a world that constantly tests my limits…”

About Globe Trotter

Globe Trotter, also known as SSMB29, is SS Rajamouli’s next big project following the blockbuster RRR, which starred Ram Charan and Jr NTR. The film’s final title has yet to be announced. Mahesh Babu is expected to portray a “tough explorer” in this high-budget, grand-scale adventure, with an estimated budget of $116 million. Production began earlier this year in Hyderabad, with extensive shoots in Odisha and across various African locations, marking one of India’s most ambitious cinematic endeavours.

Adele is slated to make her acting debut in the upcoming Tom Ford adaptation of Anne Rice’s 1982 novel Cry to Heaven. According to Deadline, Adele, 37, will join the star-studded cast of the movie that will also be written and produced by Ford through his Fade to Black production shingle.

Among those reportedly lined up to feature in the film set in 18th century Italy are: Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor Johnson, Ciarán Hinds, George MacKay, Mark Strong, Colin Firth, Paul Bettany, Owen Cooper, Daniel Quinn-Toye, Hunter Schafer, Josephine Thiesen, Thandiwe Newton, Theodore Pellerin, Daryl McCormack, Cassian Bilton, Hauk Hannemann and Lux Pascal.

The film is reportedly in pre-production in London and Rome now, with principal photography set to begin in mid-January for a planned late fall 2026 release. At press time a spokesperson for Adele had not returned Billboard‘s request for confirmation on her debut film role.

The singer known for going off the radar between albums, has been quiet since completing her massive Weekends with Adele residency series in Munich, Germany in August 2024. Her most recent album was her fourth LP, 2021’s 30, which featured the songs “Easy On Me,” “Oh My God,” “Can I Get It” and “I Drink Wine.”

The Rice novel tells the tale of a Venetian nobleman and a castrati singer from Calabria who are both trying to make their names in the opera world. Director and fashion designer Ford has directed two other films to date, beginning with his debut, 2009’s period romance A Single Man about a gay British professor (Colin Firth) living in Los Angeles in the early 1960s.

He followed that with the acclaimed 2016 neo-noir thriller Nocturnal Animals starring Amy Adams, Jake Gyllenhaal, Michael Shannon, Taylor-Johnson, Isla Fisher, Armie Hammer, Laura Linney and others in a story about an art gallery owner (Adams) who receives a manuscript for a novel written by her estranged ex-husband (Gyllenhaal) which appears to mirror their failed relationship. The latter won the 2016 Grand Jury prize at the Venice Film Festival and landed an Oscar nomination for Shannon for best supporting actor.

Film Adaptation Of Booker Prize-Winning Novel ‘Flesh’ Is In The Works

by jummy84 November 12, 2025
written by jummy84

EXCLUSIVE: David Szalay’s Booker Prize-winning novel ‘Flesh’ is set to be made into a movie by Conclave producer House Productions.

“When something moves from one form to another it is transformed in profound ways, so I’m sure it will be different, but it will be fascinating to see,” the author told Deadline about the film project. “It does have quite a cinematic quality,” he added.

‘Flesh’ is Szalay’s sixth novel and he anticipates having a hand in the movie as it comes together. “I’ve never written a screenplay, so I wouldn’t want to do it on my own, I wouldn’t feel I had the expertise to do that or the experience. But I feel I have something that I could contribute to it and I will probably be in some way involved in the writing.”

‘Flesh’ follows a man named István from adolescence to old age. Beginning in Hungary, the story traces his life’s journey, from his time in the army through to rubbing shoulders with London’s super-rich. “I don’t think I’ve read a novel that uses the white space on the page so well,” said Booker Prize judge and ‘The Commitments’ author Roddy Doyle following its Booker win.

House operates across film and TV, and given the expansive nature of Szalay’s 368-page novel, there were discussions about whether it should be a feature film or a series. “There were arguments on both sides,” the author said. “On the film side, [the argument was] it could be made as a single, impactful work that can be taken in at one sitting… it would be a way of extracting the greatest power from it, and I can see that.”

We hear that İlker Çatak, the German writer-director of Oscar-nominated film The Teachers’ Lounge is talks to direct although not yet confirmed. There was tough competition for the rights to ‘Flesh’, which is published by Simon & Schuster imprint Scribner. Tessa Ross and Juliette Howell’s BBC Studios-backed indie House look to have won that battle. Its other recent film projects include Andrea Arnold’s Bird and Jonathan Glazer’s The Zone of Interest.

While Çatak is not yet confirmed, Szalay would clearly approve if he came on board. “The Teachers’ Lounge is a great film,” he said. “I’ve also seen some of his earlier films and he’s a brilliant fit for the story.”

The Booker Prize is the world’s most significant award for a single work of fiction. There is a long tradition of the winners of the Prize’s, as well as titles from the longlist and shortlist, being adapted film and TV. Notable examples include Michael Ondaatje’s ‘The English Patient’, Sally Rooney’s ‘Normal People’ and ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ by Margaret Attwood.

Tom Ford Resort 2026 Collection

by jummy84 November 12, 2025
written by jummy84

“I like to imagine my moves within the rooms that Tom Ford built as a dance,” said Haider Ackermann. This pleasant metaphor for fashion creative direction was delivered pre-recorded, in a note that accompanied these recently-readied photos of a resort collection glimpsed in the company’s Milan showroom way back in June. So far, Ackermann has been dedicating his Big Designer Energy to the runway shimmying of his mainline shows in Paris.

Yet even without any live movement, interaction, or context to frame it, this resort package generated some tempo. Its most urgent element was the insistent percussion of commercial imperative: this collection and its menswear partner have been timed to go on sale very shortly after this review drops. Ackermann’s note spoke of the “unremitting verticality” of his notion of Tom Ford’s “beautiful creatures” and there was for sure a consistently elegant elongation to the silhouettes of his Fordian classics remixed with signature electric color accents and the occasional strong shoulder.

Gestural flourishes included the bronze croc embossed silk fabric used in some tailoring pieces, the tuxedo-lapel off-the-shoulder neckline on a (what looked like) black velvet gown, the Bengal stripe and plain piped day pajama suits, and a bib-front suede shirt-skirt. There were richly tanned black leather looks featuring ergonomically sleek paneling and pockets. There were a lot of shirting lapels turned upwards and shirting buttons opened downwards—an archetypal Ackermann routine—on tailoring in wool and colored polka dot silks. “There is an ambiguity which is noble and beautiful,” wrote Ackermann of this appealing resort proposal.

Bhad Bhabie Addresses Claims About Changing Her Skin Tone

On Monday, Bhad Bhabie shared a post from a social media user who compared a photo from her “cash me outside” days, when she appeared on the Dr. Phil show, to her most recent pictures on social media. The user wrote, “Y’all didn’t tell me she ‘turned light skinned’! OMG, when did this happen?!” Bhad Bhabie quickly shut down those claims, saying she actually looked darker in her older photos. She wrote, “I would say the right pic looks darker, but ok. Used the color picker to swatch both skin tones. The younger me was darker, so???? And I was 13 lol.”

She later clarified, “Lol, I meant left obviously. That was when I lived in Florida. I was by the beach and in the pool, always outside every day. I was definitely darker then than I am in the photo they used. You can clearly see it.”

Social Media Reacts

Folks gathered under The Shade Room Teens post to analyze the photos Bhad Bhabie shared. Some agreed she looks lighter. Others said it’s not just about skin tone, pointing to her enhanced features. They claimed she looks more Hispanic than Black. A few commenters simply said to leave the girl alone.

Instagram user @lisadelva9518 wrote, “She look more Hispanic to me, but she looks beautiful and there’s nothing wrong with upgrading your look ❤️”

Not long after, still applying pressure, she fired off another tweet that got the net talking again: “My run needs to be studied. Be mad.”

Amaal Mallik labels trip to New Zealand as his ‘struggle’ after film flop; gets teased by Gaurav Khanna, Pranit More

by jummy84 November 12, 2025
written by jummy84

A lighthearted yet pointed moment recently took place inside the Bigg Boss house when singer-composer Amaal Mallik found himself being teased by fellow contestants over his definition of “struggle.” During a conversation about his journey in the film industry, Amaal opened up about his setbacks and challenges, but his account quickly turned into a source of amusement for the others, who playfully questioned what “struggle” really means for someone from a well-known musical family.

In Bigg Boss, Amaal Mallik shares his industry challenges, leading to humorous banter from contestants Gaurav Khanna and Pranit More about the nature of ‘struggle’ for someone from a famous musical family.

Amaal Mallik talks about his struggle

During a candid moment, Amaal said, “Meri bahut ladaai hai industry mein (I’ve had a lot of conflicts in the film industry). I wanted to be a cricketer, but that didn’t happen. My first film flopped, and when I tried assisting other composers, no one hired me. They used to mock me, saying, ‘Now you’ve become a music director.’ I felt so low that I called my aunt in New Zealand and told her I was coming there.”

His remarks drew amused reactions from housemates Gaurav Khanna and Pranit More. Gaurav laughed, “During tension, where is he going? New Zealand!” while Pranit quipped, “Rich people’s life. We used to go to Shirdi.” Gaurav added jokingly, “If I had to go somewhere, my mausi lives in Kanpur.” Pranit continued the teasing, saying, “Our struggle was such that we could only manage one trip to the US. These are first-world problems.” Gaurav concluded, “These types of problems, I can handle.”

Amaal Mallik, son of music composer Daboo Malik and nephew of musician Anu Malik, made his debut as a composer in 2014 with Jai Ho, contributing three songs to the Salman Khan starrer. Though the film and its music didn’t make a big impact, Amaal went on to create tracks for films like Roy, Ek Paheli Leela, All Is Well, Hero, and Airlift, gradually cementing his place in the industry.

Latest about Bigg Boss 19

In a major twist during this week’s Weekend Ka Vaar, a double eviction saw Abhishek Bajaj and Neelam Giri unexpectedly leave the house. With the five nominees being Farrhana Bhatt, Neelam Giri, Ashnoor Kaur, Gaurav Khanna and Abhishek, the surprising outcome was that housemate Pranit More, given a special saving power, chose to protect Ashnoor, leaving Abhishek and Neelam to be evicted. Viewers and fans were shocked: Abhishek, considered one of the strong contenders, received considerable backlash on social media. Ex-contestant Awez Darbar called the elimination unfair.

Mavis Staples Finds the Beauty and Sadness in Life » PopMatters

by jummy84 November 12, 2025
written by jummy84

Mavis Staples has a remarkable voice. While some singers let the rough edges of their vocals show as they age, adding an impression of authenticity to their singing, Staples wraps her seven-plus decades of musical experience in honeyed tones. There is a sweetness that comes across even as she sings about war and injustice, as well as joy and happiness.

The adjectives from the title of her latest opus Sad and Beautiful World could easily fit as a description of her singing. She knows the current state of the nation has declined in terms of race relations and other social causes. It may make her depressed, but not for long. Staples also sees the glory and good that exists. You can hear it in her voice.

Producer Brad Cook (Bon Iver, Waxahatchee) smartly recorded Staples’ voice first with minimum accompaniment before adding an all-star roster of background singers and players to flesh out the songs. The list includes notable artists such as Buddy Guy, Bonnie Raitt, Jeff Tweedy, Derek Trucks, Katie Crutchfield, Sam Beam, Patterson Hood, and MJ Lenderman. The album also features a first-rate collection of songs by luminaries such as Leonard Cohen, Curtis Mayfield, Tom Waits, and David Rawlings & Gillian Welch, as well as one track specially written for Staples by Hozier and Allison Russell. That song, “Human Mind”, is the standout song in an album full of masterworks.

The confessional track is simultaneously personal and confessional despite not being written by Staples. She sings about her father and family, her past career and present concerns, and “finding the good in us, sometimes”. There’s a comforting, hymn-like quality to the song, abetted by Matt Douglass’ (The Mountain Goats) soulful saxophone playing. Staples simultaneously expresses hope and doubt, and a belief in love without being smarmy or corny. Due to her age, the singer’s awareness of mortality lies latent in the lyrics, both as a fact and a mystery.

These themes carry over into several of the other nine tracks. Staples sings “Satisfied Mind”, a number hit by Porter Wagner in 1955 that’s been covered by everyone from Bob Dylan and the Band, Mahalia Jackson, Willie Nelson, Ella Fitzgerald, and countless others, into a soft and primarily quiet acoustic ballad with Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) on harmony vocals.

Staple’s take on Kevin Morby’s apocalyptic “Beautiful Strangers” into a surrealistic dream-like prayer. Mark Linkous (Sparklehorse) penned the title track. Staples conveys the passing of time by slowing things down and annunciating each word. She croons, “Sometimes days go speeding past / Sometimes this one seems like the last” with conviction.” Love and death go together like beauty and sadness, indeed.

One can find compelling associations with Mavis Staples’ life on all the songs, from Tom Waits and Kathleen Brennan’s “Chicago”, to Dave Rawlings and Gillian Welch’s “Hard Times”, to Leonard Cohen’s “Anthem”, but one needn’t be familiar with her storied biography to appreciate the richness of her vocals. The Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award winner continues to inspire with her performances. If anything, she’s only getting better with age—although she’s always been one of our best artists.

Billy Bob Thornton, Sam Elliott on Taylor Sheridan’s Exit, Landman's Future

Billy Bob Thornton, Sam Elliott on Taylor Sheridan’s Exit, Landman’s Future

by jummy84 November 12, 2025
written by jummy84

Landman stars are opening up about Taylor Sheridan‘s future departure.

Last month, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Sheridan, the co-creator and writer, would be leaving the show’s home at Paramount for NBCUniversal, with a film deal set to begin next year. However, his TV deal with Paramount doesn’t start until the end of 2028, and then, he will go to NBCUniversal.

While premiering the second season of the hit Paramount+ series Landman, Billy Bob Thornton, who plays oil crisis manager Tommy Norris, shared his thoughts on Sheridan’s move. “I think the shows that are at Paramount, stay at Paramount, so I don’t think those are affected,” Thornton told THR on the red carpet. “His deal is for the future. And who knows what that holds. Taylor is a brilliant guy, and I’m sure wherever he goes, whatever he does is gonna be successful, at least I know it’ll be real.”

Landman newcomer for this season, Sam Elliot, who plays T.L. and is Tommy’s (Thornton) father, offered a similar take to Thornton. “It’s not gonna impact the future of this series because everything that Taylor had at Paramount is gonna stay at Paramount. It’s not like he’s taking it there,” Elliot told THR. “The Universal thing, as I understand, it’s a whole new deal, so it’s just great for Taylor’s world. I think it’s fantastic.”

When Landman season one premiered in November of last year, it drew 5.2 million viewers, the top Paramount+ series debut in two years since Sheridan’s additional series, Yellowstone prequel 1923, drew 7.4 million cross-platform viewers in December 2022. Thornton went on to describe how he “absolutely” felt pressure to have the second season live up to its predecessor.

“Anytime you have a success and it’s going to continue, there’s always pressure to make sure that it continues. If you’re making movies, you do a sequel, theres always pressure,” he told THR. “So, we felt it, but once you start, you just have to forget that and go out there and do your job.”

Thornton’s TV daughter, Michelle Randolph, who plays Ainsley Norris, thinks Landman won’t be stopping anytime soon. “There’s so many stories to tell. There’s so many really distinct characters, I feel like we could go on and on and on because what I always have to remind myself — the first season was 10 days in the show so I’m like, we could film the show for so long because it’s not like it’s one season, taking place over a year or anything,” she told THR. “There’s so much room for growth in every single character; they’re all deeply flawed in their own ways, which is what makes them really enticing to watch because it’s very human.”

Randolph also described what it was like to welcome Demi Moore back to the ensemble, this time with a larger role. “I love working with Demi. And also, Pilaf was on set, her cute little dog,” she said. “Horoscope-wise, it was the luckiest day of the year, everyone kept telling me, and I was on set with Demi, Sam Elliott, Andy Garcia, Billy Bob, Ali Larter — I just had to pinch myself.”

Landman season two debuts on Paramount+ Nov. 16.

(L-R) Kayla Wallace, Sam Elliott, Demi Moore, Billy Bob Thornton, Ali Larter, Michelle Randolph, Andy García and Paulina Chávez at Paramount+’s ‘Landman’ season two premiere at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center on Nov. 11, 2025 in New York.
