Shira Ghertner is carving a niche for herself in the world of contemporary filmmaking, marked by her distinctive voice and dedication to avant-garde storytelling. Based in Tel Aviv, Ghertner’s work challenges traditional cinematic norms and illuminates underrepresented narratives, establishing her as a pioneer in the film industry.

Growing up in a vibrant cultural landscape, Ghertner found herself drawn to the arts from an early age. She pursued her passion through formal education at Minshar for Art in Tel Aviv, immersing herself in film production. This educational journey was not just about acquiring skills but fostering a deep understanding of visual storytelling that resonates with audiences. Her academic experience was complemented by extensive training in theater at Sela – The Performing Arts Studio, where she developed a strong foundation in narrative construction and character dynamics. This duality of education has equipped her to tackle various storytelling mediums, allowing her to blend cinematic and theatrical elements in her films effectively.

Ghertner’s filmography is a testament to her innovative spirit and artistic vision. Her breakout film, Soft Sign, explores intricate themes surrounding identity and social acceptance, capturing the struggles and triumphs of the queer community. The film portrays a nuanced perspective on love, resilience, and the quest for self-acceptance, themes that resonate deeply with many viewers. Its success at international film festivals illustrates her ability to weave personal stories into broader societal contexts, earning her critical acclaim and respect within the filmmaking community.

Additionally, her role as a producer on projects like Broken Mirrors further demonstrates her prowess in the industry. This film, which examines the impact of personal and collective trauma, showcases her commitment to exploring complex emotional landscapes. Ghertner works diligently to ensure that her productions maintain high artistic standards, focusing not only on visual aesthetics but also on meaningful, thought-provoking narratives.

What sets Ghertner apart is her commitment to exploring complex human experiences through her films. She skillfully navigates themes of love, identity, cultural conflict, and interpersonal dynamics, resonating deeply with audiences. Her characters are richly drawn and relatable, inviting viewers to empathize with their journeys.

In an era where many filmmakers resort to formulaic storytelling, Ghertner’s work stands out for its authenticity and emotional depth. She often draws inspiration from her own life experiences and the diverse backgrounds of those around her, weaving these influences into narratives that speak to universal truths. This authenticity not only enhances the relatability of her films but also positions her as a crucial voice in a cinematic landscape that increasingly values representation.

Ghertner is also a staunch advocate for diversity and inclusion within the film industry. Recognizing the barriers that many underrepresented voices face, she actively collaborates with emerging talent from various backgrounds. She believes that film is a powerful medium for social change, and through her projects, she aims to elevate stories that reflect the rich tapestry of human experience.

Her commitment to diversity goes beyond mere representation; it involves fostering an inclusive environment that encourages collaboration among diverse filmmakers, writers, and artists. By creating opportunities for marginalized voices, Ghertner is helping to break down the walls that have historically restricted access to the film industry. This approach not only enriches her own work but also contributes to a broader movement toward equitable representation in cinema.

In the rapidly changing landscape of filmmaking, Ghertner is keenly aware of the role technology plays in shaping narratives and audience engagement. She embraces new media and digital platforms as essential tools for reaching wider audiences and presenting stories in innovative ways. This adaptability has allowed her to explore hybrid forms of storytelling, blending traditional cinematic techniques with modern digital artistry.

The rise of streaming platforms and social media has also transformed how films are distributed and consumed, providing independent filmmakers like Ghertner with opportunities to share their work with global audiences. She is leveraging these platforms not only to showcase her films but also to spark dialogues around the themes she explores. By engaging with her audience directly, Ghertner creates a sense of community that further amplifies her message.

With several new projects in the pipeline, Ghertner is keen on collaborating with writers, directors, and creatives from various cultural backgrounds to enrich her stories. She is particularly interested in exploring themes related to contemporary societal issues, including mental health, social justice, and the intricacies of modern relationships. These subjects are not only timely but crucial in fostering conversations that matter within society today.

As she forges ahead, the film community eagerly anticipates the next chapter in her impressive career.

Through her work, Ghertner not only entertains but also educates and inspires, proving that film has the power to shape perceptions and foster empathy. She embodies the future of filmmaking, a future that is diverse, inclusive, and committed to exploring the rich complexities of the human experience.

Ajay Devgn Says Love Has Lost Its Depth in Today’s Time

by jummy84 November 14, 2025
written by jummy84

Ajay Devgn recently shared his perspective on modern relationships, saying that love has lost its meaning. These comments come after Kajol’s much-discussed remark about an expiry date for marriage. Ajay, during a conversation with his De De Pyaar De 2 co-actor R Madhavan on the BookMyShow YouTube channel, shared his thoughts on the subject of love. He said, “From where I see, it has become more casual than what it was. The word love has been used so unnecessarily that it has lost its meaning. In our generation, you reached a point where you said I love you. Before that, it was whatever it was, ‘like you’ or whatever. But I think, right now, people don’t understand the depth of that word so it has been overused.”

While agreeing with Ajay, Madhavan remembered the time when people treated the word with sincerity, even applying it to small actions. He shared, “Now every message has a heart emoji with it. All messages just end with ‘love’.”

Madhavan further explained that love in modern times has become “very casual,” implying that the emotion is now comparable only to the fondness people generally experience for their pets. He explained, “There was a great amount of satisfaction in getting your love at one point of time. I really hope the younger generation can feel the kind of comfort we felt when we were in the company of someone we loved. Nowadays, you can compare that to the crazy love you feel for your pets, which is unconditional. I wish you could feel it for another human being.”

Ajay added to it, saying, “The problem is that you love your pets because you know that they won’t ask for anything in return.” The interview came after the episode of Kajol’s show, Two Much With Kajol and Twinkle, where she had said, “What says you will get married to the right person at the right time? So, you should have a renewal option. And if there’s an expiry date, then we don’t have to suffer for too long.”

De De Pyaar De 2, which releases today, stars Ajay Devgn, R Madhavan, Rakul Preet Singh, Meezaan Jafri, and Javed Jaffrey in key roles.

Nicki Minaj’s Longtime Lawyer Drops Her As A Client Amid $10M Lawsuit

by jummy84 November 14, 2025

Nicki Minaj’s latest legal battle has taken an unexpected turn as her longtime attorney, Judd Burstein, has officially stepped away from representing her in a $10 million defamation lawsuit.

The move has stirred considerable conversation, not only because of Burstein’s longstanding track record of successful defenses on Minaj’s behalf, but because of the abruptness of his departure.

In a statement explaining his decision, Burstein told Us Weekly, “After I won a dismissal of Tameer Peak’s defamation lawsuit against Nicki in New Jersey, I declined the opportunity to represent her when Peak refiled it in New York.”

Burstein emphasized that his withdrawal should not be interpreted as a judgment on the case itself. He insisted the decision was “unrelated to any concern about the merits of Peak’s claims” and reiterated his belief that the complaint is “entirely frivolous.”

He further maintained that he continues to “have great affection and respect for Nicki,” though his exit has fueled speculation about whether recent public scrutiny and Minaj’s perceived erratic behavior may have influenced the shift.

Peak’s lawsuit—now refiled in New York after being dismissed in New Jersey—centers on remarks Minaj allegedly made during an April 2024 Stationhead broadcast.

According to the complaint, she referred to Peak as “one sandwich short of a picnic” and suggested he “clearly gets a check from the government,” comments he claims subjected him to public humiliation.

Despite Burstein’s past victories for Minaj—including the dismissal of a $20 million suit in 2022 and a 2024 case that led to a gag order—the rapper now finds herself without her key legal defender.

In Burstein’s place, The Northstar Group, owned by Londell McMillan, has stepped in temporarily. According to the firm, Burstein’s departure came without warning.

“That same day, Mr. Burstein abruptly withdrew entirely from his representation of [Minaj and her company], without giving any prior notice,” a representative stated.

The firm added that “[Minaj and her company] intend to appear and defend themselves in this matter, and we are requesting a stay of the proceedings, including all deadlines and further motion practice, so that [Minaj and her company] may have time to find and retain new litigation counsel, have counsel review the case file, confer with their new counsel, and prepare any responsive filings in an orderly manner.”

The Northstar Group has requested a 45-day window for Minaj to secure new representation as she prepares to confront Peak’s renewed allegations in her home state.

SVU’? Why Fin Will Be Missing Episodes Again

by jummy84 November 14, 2025
written by jummy84

What To Know

  • Sergeant Fin Tutuola (Ice-T) returned to the squad after recovering from an attack in the November 13 episode of Law & Order: SVU.
  • Fin struggled with doubts about his abilities following the assault, expressing concerns about whether he is still as sharp as he once was.
  • Captain Benson reassured Fin that he has support and a place on the team always.

[Warning: The below contains MAJOR spoilers for Law & Order: SVU Season 27 Episode 7 “False Idols.”]

Sergeant Odafin “Fin” Tutuola (Ice T) has certainly been missed — briefly catching up with him while he recovered from his premiere attack just wasn’t the same — on Law & Order: SVU, but unfortunately, his return to the squad set him up to be absent for future episodes again.

In the Season 27 premiere, Fin thought he witnessed an assault and tried to help only to be attacked himself and his gun taken. Since then, he’s been recovering from his injuries, with Detective Joe Velasco (Octavio Pisano) briefly checking in with him before he left for a job with the DEA. In Episode 7, Fin surprised everyone by showing up at work. He greeted Detective Terry Bruno (Kevin Kane), welcomed Sergeant Amanda Rollins (Kelli Giddish) back with open arms, and even had fun messing with new guy Detective Jake Griffin (Corey Cott) a bit. Captain Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) was surprised to see him because she never got word he was cleared and checked he was good to return to full duty. He was, he confirmed, and it was in her inbox.

When Benson approached him separately, Fin reminded her that he’s been hurt on the job before. “I’m good. I’m very good,” he insisted. She wanted to make sure he was getting everything he needed from the department (support, time to process). “Eyesight’s good, no headaches, I’m out-working kids in the gym half my age,” Fin said. “I’ve never felt better.” When he checked if she doubted him, she told him, “No, you have been extremely clear about how physically prepared that you are,” but he stressed, “I’m prepared, period.”

But there was a moment when, as Fin and Rollins went to arrest a man for rape and a security guard stepped in, Fin reached for his gun. Rollins played mediator and identified themselves as NYPD. It was quick, but in the context of this episode, worth mentioning.

Then, near the end of the episode, Fin asked Benson if she thought that him getting jumped could have happened “back in the day,” and she argued that it could have happened to any of them. Fin didn’t seem reassured. As he saw it, “Even a couple years ago, I would have bene faster, caught on quicker, definitely wouldn’t have lost my gun.” Benson didn’t see it that way, but, “I just think I need a little bit more time before I come back, just get my head around it,” Fin admitted. “Take all the time you need. There’s always, always going to be a place here for you,” Benson assured him.

Ice T has been on SVU since Season 2, and so it’s hard to imagine the show without him. Nothing’s been said that suggests this will be permanent, but Fin is going to be missed when he’s once again away from the squad. That being said, there’s no character better to explore this with (which the show should do after this many years), given how long he’s been around and that Benson has stressed this season that she’s happy where she is with Chief Kathryn Tynan (Noma Dumezweni) trying to push her into a job at 1PP.

Plus, he did admit he’s been thinking about retiring in the premiere. “It’s crossed my mind. I don’t want to do this forever. Do you?” he asked Benson at Cragen’s wake. But after the attack and after he hid the fact that his gun was taken from his captain, he told her, “I thought this might have been a message for me to get out while I still can, but I’m not throwing anything away, Liv. And I’m not ready to retire until I earn your trust back.”

What do you think of what SVU is doing with Fin this season? Let us know in the comments section below.

Ray J Fires Back In Lawsuit Against Kim Kardashian & Kris Jenner

by jummy84 November 14, 2025
written by jummy84

Y’all, the drama between Ray J and the Kardashians just took another wild turn. After years of headlines, lawsuits, and social media chatter, Ray J is back in the legal spotlight. And this time, he’s coming for both Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner. Things are heating up, and fans are going to want to stick around to see what goes down.

Ray J Says Kardashians Pushed Fake Story For Years

According to TMZ, Ray claims the 2003 NSFW tape with Kim was completely consensual and “wasn’t leaked against [her] will.” He says that he and Kim “consensually shot a sex tape in 2003, and then in 2006 they discussed releasing it,” adding that Kim “insisted Kris be in charge of the release and commercial exploitation of the film.” Ray’s attorney, Howard King, says the Kardashians “spent two decades peddling the false story that the sex tape was leaked against her will.”

Accusations, Settlements, And Millions

The documents also allege that on ‘The Kardashians,’ Kim, Kris, and Ye falsely accused Ray of sexual assault, releasing revenge porn, and extortion. Ray claims he initially took legal action, and eventually, Kim, Kris, and their production company settled with him for $6 million. Now, Ray says he’s entitled to $1 million in damages under that agreement, since it barred them all from speaking on the tape, and the Kardashians allegedly violated that order. The singer is reportedly seeking $1 million in damages.

And y’all, this definitely isn’t the first time Ray J came for their necks. Back in May 2025, he started making public allegations against Kim and Kris, even suggesting they could be targets for RICO charges. By late September, he was doubling down, teasing a “crazy” case, talking about “feds…coming,” and even comparing it to Diddy’s situation — proving he’s been on this type of time for months.

Then, in October, Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian sued Ray for defamation, per The Shade Room.

“After realizing he is losing the [defamation] case and losing his way, this disjointed rambling distraction is not intimidating anyone. Ray J will lose this frivolous case, too,” the Kardashians’ lawyer, Alex Spiro, reportedly told the press in response to Ray’s latest legal action.

Of Course, The TL Weighed In…

Unsurprisingly, The Shade Room comment section was on fire after the post dropped. Some fans were quick to say Brandy needs to step in and take his phone away, while others thought Ray J’s actions seemed fair given the drama. Of course, there were also plenty of voices insisting he’s “just bored,” proving the TL never holds back.

One Instagram user @naybarker, said, “I promise you, this man just be bored 😂😂😂”

Instagram user, @a1unruly, added, “lol he 100% guilty, they told no lies 😂😂😂”

And Instagram user @meetthebutlers commented, “Ray J made Kim famous. She deserves his share“

Meanwhile, Instagram user @truly.rare wrote, “That’s fair lmao“

While Instagram user @taydevaughn said, “Brandy PLEASE come get your little brother. We tired“

Finally, Instagram user @blutiful_nightmare added, “your honor, I hit it first”

The Leak Of Dharmendra’s ICU Footage And The Cost Of Public Life

The Leak Of Dharmendra’s ICU Footage And The Cost Of Public Life

by jummy84 November 14, 2025
written by jummy84

When news broke that actor Dharmendra had been hospitalised at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital, the focus was on his health and recovery. What was not expected was how quickly a deeply private moment would become public entertainment. An ICU video showing the 89-year-old actor in a vulnerable state, surrounded by family, was secretly recorded and leaked. The hospital staff member responsible was arrested, yet the damage had already been done.

Read more: Dharmendra Isn’t Dead, But Journalism Might Be: The Curious Case Of Media Hoaxes

This incident brings into sharp relief the tension between celebrity and privacy. For public figures like Dharmendra, who have lived decades in the public eye, there remains no clear boundary between the persona and the person. Filmmakers and journalists have long recognised the mistake of reducing an actor to a product of their image. Still, when the cameras move into the ICU, the spectacle overrides the person.

Dharmendra’s family issued requests for privacy following his discharge, saying he’ll recover at home and asking the media and the public to stop speculation. But the leak of the video revealed the extent to which access has shifted — from the documentarians and fans outside the gates to those inside the hospital ward with a camera in their pocket. The footage swiftly became content for sharing and commenting.

Dharmendra case: What it means for public figures to have a private life

In discussing what it means to have a private life for a public figure, we must recognise that not all moments should be filtered into public consumption. The difference between a public announcement of recovery and a private stream of consciousness from a hospital bed is vast. One honours the individual’s dignity, the other reduces it. When staff films without consent, and the video spreads, the violation is complete. It’s not just about paparazzi in the driveway; it is about cameras in the room when healing is supposed to happen in rest.

For the industry, the implications are broad. Celebrities often negotiate visibility; their careers rely on performance, yes, but also on boundaries. The Deol family’s reaction showed fatigue, not for the illness itself but for the permanence of waiting lenses. For fans, the psychological contract is that you can watch, admire, applaud — but not infiltrate. When that contract is breached you feel a share of shame, even if the story is not about you.

In a time of social media where “Breaking” can mean “breach,” the demand for content often trumps burden of ethics. A single clip from Dharmendra’s bed became viewed by thousands before the family had processed it themselves. The viewer becomes voyeurs, the platform becomes runway for the personal.

What is to be done? First, institutions like hospitals and media outlets need robust policy. Recording patients without consent is an ethical and legal violation. Second, audiences must pause and question their appetite. A video might go viral, but that does not make it right. Ships of empathy can still sail. When the Deol family asked for privacy, they were asserting that public life does not mean perpetual exposure.

Third, the celebrities themselves benefit from drawing lines. Defining what is shared and what remains off-camera becomes part of the modern star’s strategy. Dharmendra’s team drew that line when the leak happened, calling for respect and rest. The clarity of their statement, “Please give us privacy”, should disrupt the cycle of “content at any cost.”

Ultimately, what this episode shows us is that fame may invite cameras, but it cannot invite all cameras. A hospital bed should not serve as a backdrop for trending clips. A family’s grief or fear should not be edited into a viral moment. Celebrities, though public figures, deserve privacy in moments of vulnerability. When we blur the line, we trade empathy for engagement, dignity for display.

For Dharmendra, a towering figure in Indian cinema, the intrusion was in the violation of trust. He did not sign up for a hospital live-stream. He signed up for movies but photography does not equal love.

Public interest does not equal public right. We must refuse to see every private moment as public property. And perhaps, after this episode, the industry and audience will remember: even legends need their quiet backstage.

Ariana Grande Accosted By Influencer At ‘Wicked: For Good’ Singapore Premiere

by jummy84 November 14, 2025
written by jummy84

The Wicked: For Good press cycle has not been kind to Ariana Grande. The star was unable to make the movie premiere in São Paulo last week due to flight issues, and subsequently faced a wave of death threats from fans. Yesterday, she was walking the red carpet at the film’s Singapore premiere when she was accosted by the influencer who also stage-crashed Katy Perry in June.

Footage shows Pyjama Man, who has 10,000 followers on Instagram, jumping over a barricade and charging at the singer-actress, putting his arm around her and jumping up and down. Her costar Cynthia Erivo is famously very protective over her, and she intervened along with security to get the man off of Grande. The viral menace then posted the video to Instagram, writing, “@arianagrande @wickedmovie Dear Ariana Grande Thank You for letting me Jump on the Yellow Carpet with You.” He also made an Instagram Story saying he was free after being arrested.

Aside from the obvious fact that you shouldn’t put your hands on people, Grande is a particularly vulnerable victim considering the terrorist bombing at her Manchester concert in 2017 that left 22 dead.

Assaulting celebrities is unfortunately a trend as of late. Last month, Dua Lipa also endured an unwanted physical advance at her Los Angeles show that security prevented from going any further; Billie Eilish was grabbed and shoved at her Miami gig; an audience member rushed 2hollis onstage at his New York performance. Earlier this month in DC, Halsey was groped by a fan and security had to step in. Sad stuff.

A Biblically Dull Horror Movie About Jesus

by jummy84 November 14, 2025
written by jummy84

A hopelessly inert religious horror film based on the apocryphal “Infancy Gospel of Thomas” (as opposed to the four canonical gospels of The New Testament, which are obviously all composed of nothing but hard facts), Lotfy Nathan’s “The Carpenter’s Son” begins with a premise so crystalline that even a skeptical heathen like me can appreciate its truth: It would have been absolutely terrifying if the son of God suddenly rocked up on this mortal coil. Beautiful, too, at times, but also terrifying. For everyone.

For his Mother (FKA Twigs, her power as an artist wasted in a movie that only wants her for her pout), whose steadfast faith in her infant provenance only makes her more afraid of the baby-burning pagans on the highway outside of town. For his Father (Nicolas Cage), a haunted and high-strung craftsman who can’t shake the suspicion that his son might have been sent from below rather than above. For the Boy himself (Noah Jupe, his character unnamed for copyright reasons), whose ability to heal lepers, bring the dead back to life, and — more nefariously — kill people just by looking at them adds an extra dimension to the anxieties of puberty. And for everyone else in the sad Galilean village where Jesus the Boy and his family have most recently taken refuge from the devil in 15 A.D., uneducated idol-worshippers who can’t understand why their local marketplace has become ground zero in the fight over humanity’s future.

Michael Bauman

The only people for whom this situation isn’t terrifying are us, the audience, who feel nothing but the purgatorial torpor of sitting through a movie that’s too afraid of its own concept to do anything truly provocative with it.

Raised in the Coptic Orthodox Christian church, Nathan (“12 O’Clock Boys,” “Harka”) came to the project with an inchoate fascination with the marginalia of that theology, and found that Jesus’ formative years would be ripe material for the ultimate crisis of faith. As the Infancy Gospel of Thomas would have it, the Boy was never more relatable than he was as a horny adolescent who’s starting to feel like his father is the most oppressive force on earth; as a sullen and moppy teenager who’s coming into his full power, and naturally finds himself more compelled by the evil forces that encourage him to use it than he is by his parents who tell him to hide it away.

Will the Boy find the resolve to sacrifice himself for our sins? Or will he be seduced by the Stranger (a scarred and scowling Isla Johnston as the personification of all darkness, her tremulous conviction making it easy to understand why Baz Luhrmann cast her in the lead role of his Joan of Arc epic), who whispers into his ear, “You will die for miserable people, and you will not be thanked”? Spoiler alert: Christianity has since become a very popular religion.

But if this story of how generic-brand Jesus came to see himself on the cross is understandably more about the journey than the destination, “The Carpenter’s Son” finds itself at an immediate loss as to how it could meaningfully texture that path. The essence of Nathan’s approach is to approximate how difficult it must have been for ancient peoples to maintain their faith in a world of darkness — a world desperate for even the faintest traces of divine light. It’s an approach that leads the filmmaker to steep this story in an impenetrable air of miserablism; joyless, without shape, and no more textured than the sound of a dull ringing in your ears.

Paranoid before it turns petulant, Cage’s performance eventually gives way to the high rising terminal that has always been his fallback plan in the absence of a real character to play (“My faith has been SHAAAATTTEREEDD because of you!” is the closest he gets to a memorable line delivery here), but his somnambulant opening voiceover sets the tone for the brooding sluggishness of the film to come. “He bears a power he cannot understand,” the Carpenter says of his son as they trudge through the desert in search of a new place to hide. “A power I cannot contain. Calamity follows us.” That calamity is, of course, “Se-TAHN,” who creeps around these characters in the shadows, Simon Beaufils’ rugged but drearily underlit 35mm cinematography offering “the Stranger” plenty of places to hide.

For the most part, however, the Stranger waltzes around in plain sight, adopting the form of an androgynous teen — their scarred face betraying the wounds of Heaven’s rejection — who baits the Boy into indulging his darkest impulses. So what if he sneaks a peek at the beautiful, non-verbal neighbor girl as she showers outside of her house? Who cares if he takes an unholy measure of revenge against the mean-spirited Torah teacher who’s spiteful towards his strange wisdom? These people will crucify him the first chance they get. Might as well spike their food with scorpion venom.

Nathan devotes the brunt of his attention to the torment of a world that has every reason to doubt the mercy of a divine creator. Though he displays a half-developed knack for visiting certain frights upon his victims (the scene in which Lillith is pulled out of her bed with a silent scream is particularly effective), his ambivalence toward embracing the language of a horror film holds “The Carpenter’s Son” back from channeling the holy terror needed to combat its listless approach to characterization. Too heightened to take at face value and too rote to add a lastingly visceral element to this most famous of myths, the scares grow tedious faster than a bad church sermon. (There are only so many times you can watch someone gag on a computer-generated serpent.)

There’s a hint of Luciferean menace to some of the movie’s hellacious imagery (e.g., a hole in the ground revealed to be composed of 1,000 writhing bodies), but nothing Nathan cooks up is even half as unnerving as the reality of the Boy’s zealots. It makes sense: If you heal a leper with your touch, he’s probably gonna show up at your house in the middle of the night hoping for another miracle. But how the desperation of “the unclean” lands on the Boy is hard to parse, as Nathan’s script mistakes droning ambiance for psychological insight, and Jupe’s performance — all roiling teen angst topped with a mop of perfectly angelic curls — is powerless to turn whatever into fine.

Split between probing the Boy’s inner turmoil and testing the Carpenter’s resolve, the movie never finds a compelling way to play one against the other. While there’s a consciously universal quality to all of the father-son bickering that pushes these characters towards the extremes of their beliefs, neither arc is fleshed out enough to carve anything worth keeping from their spiritual battle of wills (a battle that pales in comparison to the tortured stalemate of Johnston’s performance, which rages with agonized hate). At its best, “The Carpenter’s Son” feels like a stolid cross between “Last Days in the Desert” and “Brightburn” — flat, empty, and threatened by the unformed potential of a god’s raw power.

More often, however, the film is as lost and miserable as any of the people in it. Nathan inevitably stumbles upon an answer that tries to make sense of their anguish, but he doesn’t seem to have any real faith in its meaning. He’s as incapable of articulating the Boy’s power as the Carpenter is at containing it, and so “The Carpenter’s Son” never escapes the sacred context of its subject, nor the sense of calamity that seems to follow him wherever he goes.

Navy V-Neck Jumpers are Taking over London—Shop the Chicest Styles Here

Now that the coldest season has taken hold, I’ve been keeping a close eye on the knitwear trends emerging across London. As I’ve been scouting out the city dwellers’ wardrobes, one thing keeps catching my eye: the chicest Londoners are all gravitating towards the same navy jumper, and it’s not the one you might expect.

Rather than reaching for the classic crew-neck—forever reliable but a touch predictable—the style set has collectively shifted toward a navy V-neck silhouette. With its clean, plunging line, the V-neck flashes just a hint of décolletage, giving this knit a refined, elevated feel without losing any of its effortlessness.

Rendered in rich, timeless navy (a shade already dominating the season), this jumper naturally pairs with everything from slouchy jeans to sharp tailoring. It’s versatile, polished and naturally cool—no wonder it’s become the knit Londoners can’t stop wearing.

And while the city’s fashion crowd got there first, retailers are quickly catching on. From Reformation’s much-loved Jadey jumper to Uniqlo’s sleek merino version, there are already plenty of covetable options hitting the shelves.

Read on to discover the chicest navy V-neck jumpers worth adding to your winter wardrobe.
