The 5 Essential Pieces for Fall, According to an NYC Editor

The 5 Essential Pieces for Fall, According to an NYC Editor

I personally love outfit formulas. Getting dressed feels so much easier when I have a few reliable combinations to fall back on.

Ideally, I’d take it one step further and digitize my wardrobe into a spreadsheet or my Notes app—organized by season. I know that sounds absurd to the majority of people, but I’ve seen TikToks about this, and it always makes me feel less alone. The idea of logging everything means that on those days when you don’t know what to wear, you have outfits to choose from all in one place. It also feels like it saves me from pulling out a bunch of things from my closet or having to try a bunch of options on.

In the spirit of that, there’s one formula I always return to every fall: a sweater (often a turtleneck), a skirt, tights, knee-high boots, and a coat. I can’t think of a single time I’ve put it on and not felt good. It’s easy, timeless, and dependable.

Admittedly, my J.Crew Rollneck has been getting the most wear the past couple weeks. Beyond that, I tend to rewear my cashmere sweaters on repeat.

It’s funny to see how my preferred skirt length changes with time. I was all about minis for years, then went full-length for the majority of last spring, and now I’m gravitating toward knee-lengths. There’s room for them all, but the latter feels particularly perfect this season.

When it gets chilly, I wear 20- or 40-denier tights until the New York weather inevitably forces me to start wearing thermal ones. I’ve always felt most myself in a dress or skirt with tights, maybe from growing up dancing or my mom dressing me in them. Last year, I experimented with red and baby-blue tights; this season, I’m into the wild card micro-trend of argyle.

Timothée Chalamet Rocks a Mini Purse in New York

by jummy84 October 12, 2025
written by jummy84

It’s been a great week for Timothée Chalamet fans: There have been several sightings of the actor in New York as he begins promoting his new film, Marty Supreme. (He and girlfriend Kylie Jenner even squeezed in a baseball date night, too.) This weekend, Chalamet—who is currently rocking a buzz cut—was spotted on the streets of Manhattan, and his outfit was worthy of a double take. Namely, his eye-catching micro bag.

Chalamet proved he is team mini purse, wearing an orange Hermès Kelly bag. The luxurious style—a celebrity favorite, also worn by stars like Lady Gaga and Kate Moss—can go for upwards of $10,000. Despite its hefty price tag, Chalamet styled the piece in a nonchalant way, pairing it with a leather jacket, sweatpants, and a cool pair of tan sneakers. He wore it as though it was an everyday cloth tote (a New Yorker signature).

October 12 To October 18

by jummy84 October 12, 2025
written by jummy84

Cosmic crew, welcome to a week that feels like the rom-com scene after the messy breakup montage. Venus, the planet of love, beauty, and “let’s just vibe in harmony,” is officially back home in Libra on October 13th, and the energy is immaculate. After weeks of Virgo nitpicking (“does this person spark joy and meet my 17-point checklist?”), Venus in Libra is like, “girl, relax. Flirt, paint, wear the glitter eyeliner, text them back.” This is us hard-launching joy again in Q4. We’re still intentional, but now the assignment is to let life be a little lighter, a little sexier, a little more about connection.

And Venus doesn’t come alone. Five hours after she steps into Libra, Pluto, the planet of transformation, obsession, and revolution, wakes up from its five-month retrograde nap in Aquarius. And not just any nap: Pluto basically took an ancestral vision quest and came back like, “okay, I’ve got the blueprint for liberation.” The kicker? Venus immediately trines Pluto. Babe, that’s cosmic exhibitionism. This Air trine is basically the equivalent of them cosmically making out in public, combining forces to remind us how to love harder, freer, and more honestly — both in our own reflections and in the ways we see each other. It’s giving: make love, start revolutions, repeat.

Your Weekly Horoscope: October 12 to October 18, 2025

by jummy84 October 12, 2025
written by jummy84

Your weekly horoscope is here. Venus shifts into her home sign, Libra, elevating the lover of love to bliss mode. Enjoy charm, beauty, and harmony, but don’t be taken in by a mirage that seems too good to be true. Your ideal lover, scenario, or even value-packed opportunity may be a projection of your desires rather than a reflection of gritty reality. As Venus faces off with the spectral Neptune in Aries, that gleaming Joan of Arc or Knight in shining armor may not be all they initially seem. Wait through the end of the week for a more realistic appraisal. That said, innovation and transformation are keys to turning fantasy into something useful. A ‘grand air trine’, yes, it’s as good as it sounds—suggests sociability, writing, communication, and relationships of all kinds get an upgrade when you approach with an open heart and an open mind. Assume people want to connect, invite others to share their stories, passions, and labours of love.

Read on to discover what’s in store for your sign during the week of October 12 through October 18, 2025.

Aries (March 21–April 19)

As Venus, the planet of love and beauty, swans into your sphere of one-to-one partnerships, it’s time to enjoy your favourite person or people. Venus is the pleasure principle, so go on dates and outings. Place yourself in the path of beauty, throw yourself across its tracks, into its arms. If you’re attracted, why not approach with an open mind and heart? That could be fortuitous collabs, time with bestie, or building bonds with bae. Neptune, the planet of dissolution and mysticism, is fresh pressed in your sign for 14 years, so remember there’s something about you that heightens how others see you. Or rather, can’t quite see the reality of who you really are. It could make you more sensitive, impressionable, and permeable too. With that in mind, be sure others are getting the full reality check since your glamorous appeal is addictive. That said, it could work in your favour, especially in the creative industries.

Taurus (April 20–May 20)

Image may contain Astronomy Outer Space Light and Planet

Your ruling planet, Venus, the archetype associated with love, beauty, and charm, activates your sphere of work and wellness from Monday through November 6. How can you bring more beauty and pleasure into your daily life so it’s less grind and more joy? Breaks with bestie, shared commutes, or defrags after work with the girls? This is a social influence that’s best enjoyed with good company and gorgeous surroundings. Rituals and routines that involve balance, harmony, beauty, and that essential social interaction benefit you right now, so set them up to see you through. Negotiation, diplomacy, and finding the right compromise for all concerned are the ways through any tight spots. Although there are fewer tight spots and more flow, take a leap through an innovative or unexpected approach, transform something outdated to reap the reward.

Gemini (May 21–June 21)

Image may contain Light and Lighting

The air signs (that’s you) reap rewards this week as Venus floats into sister air signs, Libra. Activating your sector of self-expression and dating, creative writing, perhaps a love story, poetry, or charm and wit to amuse friends and win hearts is time well spent. If you’re exploring illustration or the arts, that’s a worthy way to weave your creative magic, so channel the muse, or the Goddess of love herself. While your audience may be elusive, don’t chase them down or try to define them; trust your creative process, and it will work out better than you expected. You’re the innovator of the zodiac at the moment (and for the next 7 years), so do your thing. If you’ve seen it before, you’re looking backward, not forward. Dream up your wildest imaginings and put them into form. Challenge yourself to transform a genre, a great love, your look (or outlook), or how you spend your free time.

Cancer (June 22–July 22)

Image may contain Astronomy Outer Space and Light

The love bug just rolled into your domestic sphere, so dive into sensuality, activate pleasure mode, and get in touch with what sparks joy. Share the love with activities and rituals that bond you with your nearest and dearest. Or, utilise the decorative aspect of Venus, currently in Libra, to bring beauty and harmony into the design of your space. This is an airy, breezy, and light-filled style, so even if you prefer extra cozy mode for some areas of your life or home, work on a space you can keep decluttered. Curl up on the couch with a romantic novel that pushes the boundary on sickly sweet; no one’s here to judge! You may as well dive into your fantasy while a bliss-oriented week is calling for it, go with the flow. Just be warned that fantasy and reality are certainly distinct, but there’s no harm in daydreaming, as long as you know where one ends and the other begins.

Leo (July 23–August 22)

Image may contain Astronomy Outer Space Nature Night Outdoors and Light

The moon in your sign Tuesday through Thursday is the perfect time to enjoy entertainment, work on a creative project of your own, and wear your heart on your sleeve. It may be midweek, but date night waits for no one. This is the perfect time for a quick rendezvous with your heart throb or someone new. Especially as Venus is at strength and ready for a loved-up debut in your sphere of local environment and connections. Hosted by the sign of Libra, love and beauty resonate with your sign. Vamp up your look, go as colourful and camp as your theatrical heart desires, or smooth and stylish, as long as you make an impact, you’ll win hearts and minds! Pluto, the planet of deep, soul-searching transformation, breaks its long retrograde in your opposite sign, activating your sphere of one-to-ones. Going forward, what could be renovated in your relationships? Letting go, extinguishing past flames, or a deep burn for someone new?

Virgo (August 23–September 22)

Image may contain Astronomy Outer Space Planet Globe Light Can and Tin

The moon in your sign Thursday p.m. through the weekend suggests an emphasis on organisation, self-care, and sharing your innermost feelings with someone close. Feel into the flux of your inner life while the lunar spotlights on you, Virgo. What do you crave for security, nurture, and emotional sustenance? Time in nature? Rest? Feeling on top of a project? Or does a particular person and experience come to mind? Since your financial sphere is spotlit this month, you could take that finely honed eye for detail, tweak investments, call in a new client or income source, or scout out a collaborator. Venus, the planet of all things pleasure, activates in this sphere from Monday, so consider a personal spend on something that brings you joy through beauty, sensuality, fairness, and aesthetics.

Libra (September 23–October 23)

As Venus, your ‘ruling’ planet, heads into your sign Monday through November 6, your sense of style, beauty, balance (fairness), and love is at fever pitch. It may seem like flowers are raining down from the heavens, you may see your perfect lover in someone, or the opposite, no one can match up to the dizzying, impossible heights of your idealised person. That’s because the planet of dissolution and fantasy creates a haze in your opposite sign of Aries. Working its magic in your sphere of one-to-one partnerships makes it hard to see the mirage of fantasy from cold, hard, imperfect reality. No human can measure up to God/dess, dreamboat status, so look for cracks rather than disregard them. That said, savour the view, the feeling, the love that surrounds you because it’s your own feeling that you’re creating, take ownership of it. You are disarming, charming, and dangerous to know right now, a veritable walking love potion. Use your gifts wisely for what you truly want in your life, and how you want to feel and experience it/them.

Scorpio (October 24–November 21)

Image may contain Light Lighting Astronomy Outer Space and Planet

Pleasure is found in quiet refrain as Venus strolls into your sphere of private space, rest, and dreams. Since Venus is all things beauty, why not set up your room to create a more harmonious feeling that brings you joy? While this sphere is about personal space, reflection, and escapism, Venus is in the sign of Libra, which loves being in tandem most times. Meditation or creativity with a partner could hit the spot, or choose your muse from someone you view as exquisite in their own charming way. You could also tune into the perfect partner within. What do they feel or look like? How might you manifest this vision in the real world? Do you even need to? Work may have an elusive element right now, or you could hold a fantasy projection for someone, or a grass-is-greener view that isn’t quite accurate. Get a second opinion before making a major decision. The spiritual or liminal realms hold a vibrancy worth tapping into if you’re a creative soul, so channel the muse through an art form.

Sagittarius (November 22–December 21)

Image may contain Astronomy Outer Space Planet and Person

Fresh winds of change are blowing through your social sphere right now, so pick up on invitations no matter how out of your lane they may appear. It’s all about the new, unexpected, and socially progressive right now. Get on the social super highway and enjoy exciting connections; see what unfolds. Sure, a friend could ask you to meet up, then not show, leaving you with a new crowd. But wait, they’re fun, they’re right up your alley, see where it leads. We’re never too young or old to turn the cover on a new book and enjoy a different view of the world, type of person, or find new love for that matter. For you, right now, it’s through friends, peers, larger social groups, and gatherings. The pleasure principle in your social sphere guarantees beautiful people, charming interactions, and convivial interludes. Dinner parties, boutique promos, and arty gatherings are a yes as long as your social battery is charged by them.

Sirciam Horoscope Necklace

Capricorn (December 22–January 19)

Image may contain Light Astronomy and Outer Space

As Venus, the planet representing love and beauty, rolls into your professional sphere, your public-facing persona notches all the way up to irresistible. Professional relationships of all kinds benefit, so water them with charm, connection, and attention. Venus is the pleasure principle, and Capricorns tend to love status, work, and providing useful solutions, so to say this month is a period to enjoy your work is an understatement. Lean into what you truly love about the career you’ve chosen and the people you want to share it with. Venus tends to bring luck and ease, glide in a direction you’ve had your eye on, contact that mentor, client, organisation, or collaborator. Updating your brand is on brand since Venus is all about beauty, design, and even interior design; perhaps your website, office, or whatever people from afar observe when they see you at work as opposed to at home or at play.

Aquarius (January 20–February 18)

Image may contain Light Astronomy Outer Space and Planet

This is a break-out, transformative week for air signs, especially as the planet Pluto, in your sign for the next 20 years, switches out of retrograde, ready to forge ahead on Monday. There’s a major shift in society, and you’re the leader of the pack. Your humanitarian, group-oriented flavour is du jour, so be the change you know you need. Even if it’s in your own way, in your own life, with decisions and actions that feel right, sometimes that’s enough to inspire others to evolve, transform, or make a change. Venus heads into your sphere of expanded horizons and big picture travel, ideas, and study. How might you activate the pleasure principle over the next month? Travel or study with a friend or partner? Meeting someone special while exploring a topic you love? You’ve got to be in it to win it! Mingle.

Pisces (February 19–March 20)

Image may contain Astronomy Outer Space and Planet

Dive into your private love, sensuality, and desire as the pleasure principle floats into your sphere of erotica. Whether you explore solo, with someone else, or via a steamy series (The Hunting Wives, Sirens, Tidelands, Bridgerton, to name a few), dive into the land of Eros, love, and beauty. If you’re a creative Pisces, take inspiration and paint your fantasy, set up a photoshoot, style a fashion look, or pen a saucy short story. You have luck through others right now, so note who is on your radar with an offer to team up, share resources, or talent. Two is better than one when you’re building something bigger than one person alone can handle. If you’re ambitious, call in talent to cover what you can’t, so you can focus on what you’re best at. This season is less sentimental than your personal tastes and perhaps feels more spacious and less merge-to-oneness, giving you an objective view of hidden agendas.

From the Archives: Victoria Beckham on Finding Her Life’s Passion

by jummy84 October 12, 2025
written by jummy84

Like many women designers, Victoria approaches her work in a way that’s uniquely personal and subjective. “I’ve always had to make the best of what I’ve got,” she tells me. “I’ve never been a six-foot-tall, skinny model [she is five feet four], so therefore I want to create an illusion. People always think I’m taller than I am—not just because of the shoes I wear but because of the way I dress. It’s all relatively streamlined.”

When Victoria conceived her brand, “I wanted clothes—whether a pair of jeans or an evening dress—that I would wear myself. That’s the final test. Would I wear it? If I would, I put it out there, and if I wouldn’t, I don’t.” Her “sucky-sucky” dress is a case in point. “It gives [my customers] a little waist. It’s great on the boobs, it’s great on the bottom,” says Victoria, whose polished collections rap—if at times bordering on an infomercial—is worlds apart from those of designers who present inspiration boards and blind you with arcane references. “We spend a lot of time perfecting our fit,” she continues. “We spend hours obsessing over a shoulder. My aim is to create the perfect dress!”

Above all, Victoria’s approach is strictly pragmatic. “When a season goes well,” she says, “the first thing I think is, Oh, great, I can do another season. I’m very realistic. I’m creative—but women need to want to buy the dresses.”

During fittings (on the day I visit, for fashion, shoes, and handbags), Victoria is all-seeing. “I take opinions on board and digest it all. Think about it and then make the final decision,” she tells me. “I’ve got to believe in it. Otherwise, how can I expect other people to believe in it?” She can also be droll. During the shoe meeting, Victoria is judging the exact placement of straps on unfitted ankle boots that Christian Louboutin has made for her runway show. “I think it’s chicer with just the two. I think it looks a bit Puss in Boots with three,” she says, “a bit Mary Poppins. And if they’re going to do the cuff, it should be around the top—or they’re going to look like they’ve got cankles!”

5 Underrated Color Combinations for Fall That Work Better Than You Could Imagine

by jummy84 October 12, 2025
written by jummy84

In the past few years, street style trends have largely dropped experimenting with different color combinations in favor of the “quiet luxury” aesthetic. Simple, timeless, and neutral tones of course have their place and are an effective way of dressing. But when did everyone get so afraid of color? Looks in saturated tones can be just as elegant, we promise.

We’re all for a look with a single pop of color, but the truth is that some of the coolest and most unexpected outfit ideas today are doing the opposite: They play with overlooked or surprising color combinations to create a look that’s beautiful and decidedly anything but monochromatic.

There are no fashion “rules” here. Pink and red were born to be worn together. The myth that navy blue and black shouldn’t be mixed has been proven wrong time and time again, and the same goes for brown and black. Actually, all the colors that you think wouldn’t go well together unexpectedly do. And so, here are five color formulas worth trying this fall and winter.

13 Chic Triangle Scarves That’ll Enhance Any Winter Outfit

by jummy84 October 12, 2025
written by jummy84

Fashion often has a penchant for geometry, and in no way is this clearer than the rise of chic triangle scarves. In a sartorial move that would surely earn Pythagoras’s stamp of approval, sophisticated angular cuts of fabric have become the latest accessory to capture the street style set, with no concrete pavement in New York, cobblestone high street in London or bustling grand boulevard in Paris competing without the appearance of one.

It’s not often that the disciplines of style and mathematics converge, save for the rare moments where half-moon-shaped bags or dressing philosophies like the three-word method gain collective popularity.

However, where triangle scarves hold an advantage is in their simplicity. Sliced in a way that evokes a sewing pattern—the very foundations of craftsmanship—these comforting swathes act as a triptych that enhances even the most minimal outfit. Plane figures, indeed.

What is a Triangle Scarf?

Academic chat aside, triangle scarves are an understated and elegant accessory trend that refers to, as the name suggests, a specific scarf style that’s cut into a triangular pattern. The shape is often rendered in knitted fabrics, serving as a versatile and sophisticated addition to humble winter wardrobes.

Amid freezing cold temperatures, piecing together an intriguing outfit often falls to the wayside in favour of prioritising warmth and thermal comfort. Triangle scarves not only behave as a snug layer against harsh, crisp winds and light showers, but also as a more considered way of rugging up against the elements.

Recently, while attending the spring/summer season of Paris Fashion Week, Kendall Jenner proved this point entirely.

Stepping out during a brisk morning in the French capital, the model and mogul accented her monochromatic grey pencil skirt and trench coat outfit from The Row with a bordeaux-coloured triangle scarf from Almina Concept. Speaking to the brand’s founder, Angela Ghang, she told me the moment was proof of how triangle scarves can “add depth and a playful contrast to outfits”.

“We loved how Kendall styled our dark brown scarf with a full grey look,” she continued. “The richness of the brown pops beautifully against the grey”. Located in Los Angeles, the elevated essentials brand is produced exclusively in South Korea and creates curated and high-quality wardrobe fundamentals for the modern woman.

An image of Norse influencer @nnennaechem wearing a triangle scarf.

But, it’s not just Almina Concept who are embracing this vintage staple. Louise Trotter’s debut for Bottega Veneta featured a series of intrecciato woven leather triangle scarves styled around models’ necks. Scotland-born, Amsterdam-based content creator Hollie Mercedes has also brought this more mature style to a younger generation with the triangle scarves created under her knitwear label Clòimh. (A word that translates to “wool” in Gaelic.)

“Incorporating different shapes, textures, and layers instantly adds depth and dimension to an outfit,” Ghang says. “With minimalist dressing in particular, a triangle scarf is the perfect finishing touch; it’s simple yet striking. Whether draped over the shoulders or tied at the waist or neck, it brings a subtle sophistication that elevates even the most pared-back look.”

This is something that refined dressers across fashion capitals are proving in spades, and I predict that this winter, triangle scarves will really reign supreme. So, take notes from the most discerning dressers around and, without further ado, uncover the best triangle scarves to shop in 2025 ahead.

Large Merino Wool Triangle Scarf

Style Notes: After asking around the Who What Wear UK office for lesser-known brands that excel in the scarf department, TBCco was a name that kept cropping up. After looking through its website, I was naturally enamoured with this elegant soudough-tinted piece, and I know you will be too.

How to Style a Triangle Scarf

There are really no rules for wearing triangle scarves—style them like Michael Ryder’s debut collection for Celine under prim collared shirts or take a leaf from Alexa Chung’s book and wrap them around your waist for an obvious textural play. However, speaking to the experts, it’s not how you wear them that matters, but where you wear them.

“Wearing it tied around the head feels very intentional,” says Ghang. “It signals thoughtfulness in layering and styling, giving the impression of a complete, considered look. On the other hand, wearing around your waist tells a different story. “We love wrapping it around the waist for an effortless draping detail—it’s a modern, unexpected way to add movement to your outfit,” she continues.

A third option arises when you consider tying it around your shoulder, like you would a cardigan or a jumper. Of course, if you already have the latter layering around, it’s worth testing the versatility of the trend this way before purchasing your own. But a fair warning—once you do, you will be completely hooked. This is something I learned first-hand after a recent trip to Oslo and stocking up on a few triangle scarves from local brands like Dale of Norway and Envelope 1976. After never really seeing the elegance and refinement inherent to the style, I am now totally besotted with wearing triangle scarves on any and all occasions.

What to Look Out for When Shopping a Triangle Scarf

According to Ghang, there are three things you should keep an eye out for when purchasing a triangle scarf. “Material, colour and length are key,” she explains. “The scarf can be worn around the head, shoulders, or waist, making it a truly multifunctional accessory,” she adds, so you really want the piece you choose to serve every single setting.

So while petite silk scarves and bandanas are great for summer when you want to wear little material, they don’t really transition to winter wear that well, given their smaller surface area. On the other hand, you don’t want a style so large that it makes you look like you’re walking around with a duvet cover around you. (Though there is a certain merit to that, too.)
