Khoki Tokyo Spring 2026 Collection

by jummy84 August 29, 2025
written by jummy84

Welcome to the house of Khoki. The Tokyo-based collective of anonymous designers always puts a huge fabric door on the entrance to its showroom installations, but this year crafted an entire fabric house in the center of the room. It was representative of what the brand values: craft, familiarity, whimsy, and—most importantly of all—teamwork. The group doubled its staff from three to six people in the past year, yielding some fresh ideas (the Khoki collective is a democracy, where every suggestion gets equal consideration).

A couple of the most interesting ideas came from a new member: a set of metal cutlery—a knife, fork and spoon—shrink-wrapped into the sides of leather bags, and a tiny sewing kit sealed into leather card cases. A potential nightmare at airport security, but cool to look at. “I think that an item like this can only be created by working as a team, because it wouldn’t come from my own brain,” said Koki Abe, the collective’s figurehead. “I feel like it’s a good way to do things, I want to continue to push forward in this way.”

While last season was more rooted in a solid narrative, this collection took a freer approach, explained Abe. “It’s a season that incorporates updates to previous products and new concepts,” he said. Shibori, a historic Japanese tie-dyeing technique, was central to the collection, creating colorful circular patterns that were printed across tailored trousers, faded T-shirts, and sleek leather jackets, so that they resembled mandalas. Bleu de travail jackets were reimagined into soft button-up sweaters; oversized tailoring, military jackets, and cargo pants were artfully faded or spliced together; while delicate white lace and broderie anglaise patched up the torn knees of blue denim jeans.

The designers had also been exploring how to bring vintage references and casual styles into a high-fashion, luxury context. “Whether that’s dressy fabrics, or fabrics that feel right for the moment, we’re looking for combinations and processing methods that can be worn in slightly more formal settings,” said Abe. “One of our missions is to make clothing fun by using our pattern-making skills and combining new things together.”

Indeed, Khoki’s sense of fun is ever-present. The team’s gallimaufry of references at times risks verging on a class project with too many kiddie cooks, but Abe is always able to guide his crew to a place that feels cohesive and comfortable. Not a house after all, but a home.

Your September 2025 Horoscope Is Here

by jummy84 August 29, 2025
written by jummy84

Aries, the highlight of September is the total lunar eclipse in Pisces on the 7th, and for you, it’s shaking up your healing, solitude, and subconscious zone. Translation: you might be hit with emotions you thought you buried, or old wounds you thought were “handled” suddenly resurface. Don’t panic. This eclipse isn’t here to drag you backwards; it’s here to help you finally stop running from what hurts and actually let it go. Expect vivid dreams, déjà vu moments, and maybe even a tearful rage-room release. The Pisces energy is asking you to stop pretending you’re invincible and give yourself permission to heal, messy and all. And with the Virgo eclipse coming later in the month, the universe is saying: clean up your habits, not in an obsessive way, but in a sustainable, self-loving way.

Selena Gomez Gives Fans a Taste of Her Bridal Style in This Stunning Pearl Mini

by jummy84 August 29, 2025
written by jummy84

Selena Gomez just shared a photo-dump from her bachelorette party in Cabo last week, but we can’t take our eyes off one dress in particular.

In keeping with tradition, Gomez wore many shades of white throughout the duration of the trip, including a scalloped white bikini, which she layered under a crochet cover-up (also white), an off-the-shoulder minidress with crochet floral embellishments, and white sweatpants, which appeared to be gifted to all the girls.

But the pearl-embellished dress, which she paired with a “bride to be” veil, was the star of the show. The halter-neck mini, from the brand Retrofête ($1,498), is completely covered in strands of pearls, including at the collar, which gave the look of a pearl choker necklace. Between the strands of pearls were shimmery white sequins—barely visible unless you’re really zooming—that caught the light just so. This is a dress that’s made for the camera flash. (See all the pics here.)

Pearls have been having a moment for several seasons, cropping up on the runways and red carpets almost as often as in jewelry collections. The boxy cut of Gomez’s mini is more timeless, a bit of a callback to the ‘60s—which reminds me, isn’t Gomez supposed to star as Linda Rondstadt in a biopic? Because with this look, I can definitely see it.

Much was made of Taylor Swift’s absence from Gomez’s bachelorette party when photos of the girls on the yacht were published on August 24, but now we have a better understanding of why Ms. Swift was unable to attend—other than that it would have probably quadrupled the security risk, having two of the most famous people on the planet in one place. Swift was busy celebrating her own engagement to fiancé Travis Kelce, and gosh darn it if she wasn’t just a little distracted.

Though very few details about the wedding have been made public—including the exact date and location—rumor has it that Selena Gomez and fiancé Benny Blanco will be tying the knot in September (which certainly tracks given the timing of the bachelorette party). Could Gomez’s pearl mini be a hint at the style of her wedding dress? Something ’60s-esque, with clean lines and a hint of shimmer? And more importantly, will Swift be there? Watch this space.

Everything I Packed to Live Out of a Suitcase for a Year

by jummy84 August 29, 2025
written by jummy84

The decision to travel for a year came easily. After sorting out the logistics of subletting my NYC apartment, tossing superfluous possessions in storage, and lining up sufficient freelance remote work, my administrative ducks were in a row. But packing for a year of travel? Easy is not the term I’d employ to describe the endeavor. How does one even go about pulling together a capsule wardrobe for such an extensive amount of time away from home? The very notion seemed humorously ambitious.

The one thing I had going for me was that I orchestrated my travel plans in such a way that I’d circumvent winter all together. My first stop was Los Angeles, onward to Hawaii and New Zealand, a few months in southeast Asia, a pitstop over in India and South Africa, then late spring and early summer in Europe. Evading cold weather meant lighter layers, and thus, lighter luggage. But that still did not resolve the issue of what to pack.

At the behest of my husband, I resisted the urge to bring multiple massive suitcases and settled on one trunk and one carry-on. Unlike him, I do not worship at the altar of minimalism, but a simplified approach turned out to be necessary for maneuvering around airports, train stations, and ferries. Neutral colors and classic silhouettes I wouldn’t tire of formed the basis of my travel uniform—with a couple of dopamine-inducing accessories and statement pieces thrown in for sanity’s sake. I permitted myself a few different handbag and footwear options to adjust to various occasions, all neatly corralled with packing cubes and various organizers.

Nearly one full year and eight countries later, what I’ve learned is that a ruthless packing list is the secret to a trip’s success. If you have everything you need (nothing more, nothing less) assembled in a tidy environment, it leaves more time to be present on your journey. Don’t get me wrong: There were days when I wanted to light my suitcase ablaze and kick it into the river, and others when I was pleased with a polished look I managed to cobble together. But rarely is the outfit the best part of an adventure, anyway.

So, if you’re embarking on a similarly long-haul sojourn, the items below—from luggage necessities to wardrobe heroes—all deserve a spot on your packing list.

My Trip MVPs

The Trunk

Chief among the best packing decisions I made was choosing a travel trunk, instead of just a large checked bag (or two). I’ve always admired this romantic relic from 19th-century steamship or train journeys—but nostalgia for the Golden Age of Travel aside, the elongated shape and deep compartments made living out of my suitcase way less of a headache. My trunk of choice is from Paravel and sadly no longer available, but there are several options on the market, from heritage brands to DTC favorites like Away.

Tumi

The Packing Cubes (with Labels!)

While the use of packing cubes is by no means revolutionary, one detail that transformed my experience was utilizing labels for each cube. I had different ones designated for undergarments, dresses, activewear, and so on—which made it easy to grab the specific item I was looking for without wrecking the homeostasis of my suitcase.

The Passport Holder

I have never lost my passport before… but I can imagine it isn’t pleasant. To avoid having to track down my nearest embassy, I enlisted a holder to neatly hold my passport, foreign currency, and boarding passes. I used the “Airport Dad” passport case by Clare V. X Jimmy Kimmel, which promptly sold out upon release, but any well-made holder should do the trick.

Bottega Veneta

Intrecciato leather passport case

Prada

The Jewelry Case

It’s true what they say about accessories: They can revolutionize a tired wardrobe. Going into this trip, I knew I’d be relying on my earrings and necklaces more than usual, and therefore brought along a larger organizer that kept everything detangled and easy to access.

The Go-With-Everything Tote

When you’re traveling in warm climates and need a bag that can translate to an airplane as easily as it can to evening cocktails, a woven tote is a trusty option. I prefer leather iterations, as they’re more durable; size-wise, I gravitated towards something that could fit my MacBook Air, but wasn’t so large that it felt like a commuter bag.

The Cosmetics Organizer

Coming from someone who doesn’t wear a lot of make-up even I’m surprised to include this one, but my cosmetics organizer was among my most valuable items that I packed. Unlike a simple make-up bag that jumbles everything together, having a case with specific spots for my various brushes and products was a little luxury that went a long way.

The Just-In-Case Sweater

I am a knitwear fanatic, so selecting just one sweater to pack for a year was torture. But this black, oversized cable knit from Soft Goat was a godsend. It was slouchy enough to layer over just about anything, and easy to knot around my shoulders or waist on days when the weather was a little iffy.

The Crisp White Button-Up

I will espouse the joys of a crisp white button-up shirt no matter where in the world I am, but when you’re on the road, a classic piece like this really hits its stride. It’s on regular rotation in my airplane uniform, and is a favorite layer for pairing with silk pajama pants and printed skirts.

The Pull-On Breezy Pants

I somehow only packed one pair of jeans for my entire trip—and it was A-okay! Instead, I relied on breezy linen pants, most of which were designed with a relaxed, pull-on waistline (plus, the lighter material is easier to roll up and pack than rigid denim).

The Throw-On-and-Go Dress

When you’re working with a limited rotation of clothing, it’s important to have staples you can throw on and feel instantly good in—like an effortless dress. I had one custom made when I was in Vietnam (a common practice in the country!) and proceeded to wear it the duration of my trip.

My Surprising Pick-Me-Ups

The Personality Sneakers

I am not one to impulse buy, but a week before I left for my trip I panic-purchased these Toteme sneakers. Thankfully, a year later I can safely say I made the right decision. While a classic Nike or Adidas option is always a fine choice, the suede texture on these sneakers gave them a unique touch that, in turn, had me reaching for them more often.

Dries Van Noten

The Full-Size Fragrance

Hear me out: if you are traveling for an extended period of time, bring a full-size fragrance. While mini sizes are smart for shorter getaways, there’s something so indulgent about spritzing on perfume from a larger bottle. Plus, anytime you smell that scent it’ll take you right back to your trip. (Trudon’s Isla will always hold a special place in my heart!)

Trudon

Isla de Oro eau de parfum

The Elegant Dress

I brought along a navy silk kaftan with delicate embroidery that ended up being my go-to any time we had a fancier meal or excursion, which took the stress out of dressing for a formal occasion. You don’t need to pack a plethora of occasion pieces, but one really elegant dress is worth the space in your suitcase.

The Sunglasses

What can make a repeat outfit less banal? A pair of statement sunglasses, that’s what. It’s a small detail, but one that will be in all of your photos taken outdoors during the day, so choose wisely (personally, my preference is for lightly tinted lenses).

The Sleek Flip Flops

The footwear I ended up wearing the most were my simple, fuss-free flip flops. They’re the perfect finish to a slouchy trouser with a pooled hem, and easy to style up or down depending on the occasion.

My Packing Regrets

The Cable Organizer

On more than one occasion, my assorted cords and charging cubes resembled a tangle of noodles at the bottom of my travel bag. Word to the wise: Investing in a tech organizer is investing in your mental health.

The Lightweight Weekender

I bought a leather weekender from Cuyana for the airplane and any quick side trips—but while the bag was beautiful, the weight and size weren’t conducive to my unique circumstances. If you’re traveling for several weeks or months at a time, a smaller and lighter tote or duffel is the safer option for a personal item.

The Suitcase Cover

Unsurprisingly, after a year of luggage carousels, car trunks, and countless wheel mileage, my suitcases are riddled with scratches. If I could go back and do it all over again, I’d get a cover.

Think Sabrina Carpenter’s hair. Face-framing cuts like the butterfly cut are going to be popular all season long. They “have top-heavy layers,” says Jewell Hingorani, professional hairstylist and founder of Jewell Clip luxury hair extensions, which are “layers concentrated at the crown and face frame for volume and bounce.”

The quiet-luxury-esque cut is “polished but not fussy, flattering on so many face shapes, and creates instant volume,” says Hingorani. “I think it’ll trend because people are drawn to looks that feel rich, timeless, and Instagram-ready.”

A French Girl’s Autumn 2025 Capsule Wardrobe

by jummy84 August 29, 2025
written by jummy84

As a devoted sun seeker, I always feel a pang around this time of year as the air begins to cool. But if anything can soften the blow of parting with my favourite summer pieces, it’s the freedom that comes with building autumn outfits and the endless opportunities to experiment with fabric, silhouette and proportion.

Having studied French style for two decades, I’ve come to recognise the staples most often favoured by French women, along with the subtle seasonal updates worth noting. As with most seasons, a French woman’s autumn capsule wardrobe is made up of carefully chosen items. It’s versatile, streamlined and cut to embody the effortless look the French are known for.

Although the core capsule remains steadfast with seasonal classics (a blazer, column silhouettes and anti-trend footwear, for example), there are a few seasonal updates that may appear each autumn, should French women choose to adopt them. This season, I’ve witnessed the popularity of capri pants first-hand, and the longer, ankle-skimming iteration is an autumnal approach to the trouser trend I know we’ll continue to see through to autumn, for example.

Continue reading to see the seven items that you’ll find in a French woman’s capsule wardrobe this autumn—from leather midi skirts and trench coats to supple suede loafers.

French-Girl Autumn Capsule Wardrobe 2025:

1. A Classic Shoulder Bag

A French Woman's Guide to Autumnal Dressing

Style Notes: Masters of nonchalant dressing, French women are best known for their adoration of itty bitty handbags you can easily tuck into the nook of your underarm, namely, in the shape of the baguette bag. For AW25, we’ve seen a surge of shoulder handbags take centre stage.

Shop Shoulder Bags:

Gold Noir Éclair Bag (pre-Order Only)

VERAFIED

Gold Noir Éclair Bag

My latest bag crush comes in the form of Verafied’s Éclair. Deliciously mini, with gold swathed adornments and complete with an elongated handle. It’s the exact style I attribute to French fashion.

Osmo - Smooth Sand

Polène is beloved for its French-inspired designs. The Osmo bag is one of its latest launches.

Nicole Brown

Upon first spotting this Mashu design, I concluded that it felt inherently French.

Le Cambon East West Deep Brown Suede

Manu Atelier

Much to our delight, Manu Atelier’s Le Cambon is available in a plethora of iterations—from elongated and slender to capacious. This includes its generous arsenal of colours, too.

2. Midi Skirts

A French Woman's Guide to Autumnal Dressing

Style Notes: After two years of close observation, I’ve deduced that (more often than not) French women will wear mini or midi skirts. Come autumn, Midi skirts take precedence. Said skirts are available in a plethora of fabrications and shapes from column to flared and commonly in silk, suede and leather fabrications.

Shop Midi Skirts:

Yasmine Skirt - Black - Lamb Leather - Sézane

Sezane’s winter collection is one to watch, particularly for leather.

Black Jamie Leather Midi Skirt

Whistles

3. Leather Outerwear

A French Woman's Guide to Autumnal Dressing

Style Notes: Leather outerwear is to autumn and winter what trench coats are to spring. This season, we’ve been graced with plenty of unique cuts from bomber-style jackets to long-line leather trench coats. Each of them is in the sumptuous and hardwearing leather that will see you through many cold-weather winters.

Shop Leather Outerwear:

Black Gamma Jacket

There’s a reason why Soeur’s boutiques are nestled in the most residential arrondissements in Paris. It’s much loved by locals.

Jameson Leather Jacket

KHAITE

Jameson Leather Jacket

Khaite’s Jameson jacket sits on the periphery of blazer and jacket which is apt when considering transitional dressing.

4. Straight-Leg Jeans

A French Woman's guide to Autumnal Dressing

Style Notes: Straight-leg jeans are synonymous with French fashion. You may be familiar with the love of vintage Levis 501s. It’s the most popular style of jean and hunting down the perfect pair is a common pastime among French women. While I’ll always recommend vintage shopping, there are many styles you can invest it to achieve this look. What’s more, you can explore a plethora of colourways beyond an indigo wash.

Shop Straight-leg Jeans:

Shop Loafers:

6. Cropped Trousers

French Woman's Guide to Autumnal Dressing

Style Notes: 2024 was the year of shrunken hems and we witnessed the resurgence of capri pants dominate the French fashion scene. The typical capri pant hits above knee to knee length; however, it’s been morphing into a lengthier style just in time for cold-weather days. If you hope to continue wearing these styles into winter, opt for slim-fitting cropped trousers, or longer capri pants of which there are plenty this season.

Shop Cropped Trousers:
